  • 4th bench run, this time longer and I took video. This engine was a bonus in a goodie box of pylon models and bits I bought on the hobby classifieds. Thanks Jeremy!
Prop is a 6.1" x 8.25" trimmed down from the 8.4" diameter flight prop, to allow the engine to stage onto the pipe easily while running static - simulating flight load as closely as possible. The tuning is too peaky to bench run on the flight prop, tends to run lean and overheat. As two-strokes tend to, it runs nice and cool when you let it spin freely though.
Fuel is 5% nitromethane, 24% syn/cas oil, Merlin hot plug (still not hot enough until I bring up the compression a bit - see it struggle when plug heat is pulled).
Peak here is 26,570, the slightly richer ragged but fully staged running was around 25.0 - 25.5k. Falls off sharply below 25k.
The engine is slightly underpropped here but running cool and happily. Now to mount it in something for spring.

Незабутній звук, що радує кожного авіамоделіста! Двигун внутрішнього згорання - це сила!

FYI I finally get my act together and the engine starts at 1:52.. no need to get bored.

You can certainly hear it come on the pipe and yes it is mind boggling to think what those internals are doing.
That glow clip was floating about.....I have a switch on mine so I can leave the clip on and cut off the volts from a safe distance.

Oh yeah I wasn't on my best safety game here for sure. No harm no foul but.. still. Luckily despite the insane racket the static thrust isn't crazy.

At dinner last night I wondered why a spot on my left hand was sore. I spotted the answer is at 2:53, good job leaning my hand on the pipe dumbass.

I dont know anything about rc model engines, but why is the muffler and carburetor the same?

Caburator is underneath muffler, he is choking the engine with the finger on muffler

Rear rotary valve intake puts the carb on the backplate as noted by fr8290 earlier.

My app read 26,566 rpm best steady peak = )
Who was that noob trying to start that engine?

Some twit who can't tell the difference between suck and blow. Audio should be bang on with the tach on a static run. My tach embellished the story by rounding up!

Much too cold plug as it accelerates so much with glow on.. very uneven running too.

Which I had already noted in the description in the bits where it says it needs a hotter plug or more compression, and that it was rich and ragged until later when I finally peaked it.
