Retro Computing has always been around. But on the scale it is now. I wish I would have not gotten rid of some my goodies. But, that was before the internet. Sigh.
Yes, you are right in that people have always drawn inspiration from the technology of the past. As you say, the scale of the hobby is now significant! It's still not too late to get some of your old computers back... patience + eBay can be your friends.

Oh, I did that. I got a nice Apple Ii+ via craigslist. So I didn't an arm or a leg for it. I did have to clean it and fix it. @@DeepTechWithAmir
That’s awesome! The Apple II is a great choice. I have a + and a GS; need to get the plus cleaned up.
