Wow, I spent hours on this, great! A tad fast, so lots of start and stop and I am at a medium level I would say, but overall so very very thankful! Yay!
This was really well done! Thanks! Things can get complicated pretty quickly and you worked at a steady pace that an intermediate Revit user should have no problem following. I'm going to go through the whole series and keep this family in my back pocket for residential use:)
Beautiful.... Thank you .... interesting thing here is placing as many as reference planes at random positions and once putting dimensions with parameters made these planes lined up and arranged after giving thicknesses..... Thanks again ....
I add my vote to the compliments. Very informative, educational, and detailed. You were also very well spoken, I look forward to studying the series, and others I hope to find on your channel. Revit is hard and needs more videos like yours. Thank You VERY much for taking the time to share!!!!
Excellent Video. I had however to switch from the imperial to our metric system. Anyhow the Void sweep did not work with me I don't why. The other question I am wondering can we use it on any size of kitchen walls. without increasing the size of the cabinets themselves?? I used to draw them using the models in place. It is not as good as this one because you have to start everything from scratch everytime. Can we add material after we import the family in the project??
Void Sweep: Make sure that before you sketch path, you have selected the reference plane. And when you sketch the profile, the profile should always be within that element in which you want to create the void sweep. And even some orange/yellowish lines of void appears then use the cut command to create the void. Walls: The size of walls does not matter. As I have created these cabinets in generic model wall based family, it will automatically adjust according to the wall thickness in the project file. But even if the wall bothers you, you can create this family in the simple generic model template file. Materials: And yes the materials does not matter in the family file. Just create the material parameters and then you can easily add or change the materials in the project file.
Let's Revit but if I want to save them and use them on another project is it possible keeping in mind that measurements of the kitchen varies from one project to the other I selected the plane and guess what? The sweep was at the bottom
Hello Mam, How to create a single cabinet. If we insert a cabinet into the project will we get each panel sizes in schedule (for cutting preparation). Please advise me
You have to make the cut list on your own, Revit can only calculate the total amount of material required but not its sizes. And if you create and load the family of a single cabinet in the project, its one side will overlap with the next cabinet so I will recommend to create the cabinets as a model in-place file or if there is some sort of a fixed design like an island kitchen, you can create its family in the template file.
ma'am if we hv to design for Island Kitchen .. with all 3 sides cabinets.. can i add wall for this template.. how to add walls .. i tried several times but its not working....... i tried with regular new project but im unable to find that create parameter tab in that file can u pls help with me
If it is an island kitchen then you do not need a wall as the island kitchen has free standing cabinets and you can create that family in the simple generic model family template. So why do you need to draw the wall?
@@LetsRevit ma'am actually I have L shaped counter as regular cabinets & on 3rd wall comes crockery unit .. in middle I hv island kitchen as well.. Actually an open kitchen with dining & Living area.. so planning for modular kitchen... So I have issue with 3d making ma'am
@@mutthamizharasi3314 Ok then make this family of kitchen without the wall as host. Make it in the simple generic model family template and then in the project file you can place this family wherever you want, either with wall or without wall.
You can only get total square footage of the material required but for the individual cut and dimensions of the sheets, then you have to draw the dimensional drawings for that.
Your content is to congested. Assign parameters by reference plane. Not too many references and assign parameters later. We find it hard to understand what is what

what if I want to do an l-shaped kitchen cabinet?
very good
thank much ! This is how teaching should look like
Hi Mam ,my cabinet seems to appearing on the wrong side .i have to put a minus sign in order to get them on right face of the wall
If you are drawing in the wall based family file then be careful that you model the objects on the "Placement Side" elevation.

Yes it is possible. You can load and change the dimensions of the kitchen cabinets according to the project.
@@LetsRevit I select the reference plane as the granite counter top, but I still can't draw my sweep. It's becoming very annoying
That's strange. Does it give an error or the sweep is created but the void is not shown?

How can I get cut list from revit
I will upload the tutorial in the near future. Stay tuned!!!
which is unit of length
Feet and Inches
So maybe I am answering my own question, but the dims attached to the extrusion are not locked, but the extrusion points are locked?🤪
I love you.
