Have you ever been to the Laytown races? You don't seem to know much about any of it. They're on tomorrow at 4.30pm, come down and see if you still think the same. Accidents happen at all events, this is no more dangerous.
Horses gallop every morning on the beach in Laytown. The races is a flat race with no jumps and the track is inspected after every race and the sand is flattened out again. I agree that people think racing is barbaric, but ban horse racing, not just this event. The majority of the people at the races are on higher ground which is blocked off from the beach. Anyone who comes onto the beach watch from behind barriers at the finish line which is as safe as any other race meeting.
what about red rum then where do you think that used to be trained? it was trained on the beach at southport it went on to win the grand national three times as you should no
There are lots of people who think animal racing is barbaric and cruel, but racing on sand where humans and animals have a greater chance of injury and death? Come on!
Just totally brilliant video. Laytown races has changed a lot since I last went in 1969. Well done Slantzmcd.
