This is going to sound crazy but I think I had a dream about this place even though I'd never heard of it or been there in my life. I'm not a religious person or someone who believes in spirits and astral projection and "out there" stuff, but I had this incredibly vivid dream a few years back of this beautiful place I'd never seen before, where I was extremely high up on a deeply sloped beach overlooking this gorgeous, deep blue water that had an incredible view that seemed to stretch on for miles. I felt really high up with a sharp slope downward toward the shore, and I noticed several sections as I walked where there was a lot of shrubbery in the sand, so it wasn't just pure sand on the beach. I even cut across the beach at one point about halfway up using a wooden sort of walkway like what's pictured in the video. I was with someone who was out of view and there was this sense of freedom, like we were on a really long vacation, or we had escaped the tedium of our "normal" lives. I asked the person I was with where we were, and he said, almost word for word, "Near one of the great lakes." I woke up thinking that the place looked too surreal and dream-like to be a real place, and surely I must have made it up. I live all the way on the other side of the country and have never been anywhere near the great lakes. And it looked like a fantasy landscape, so it had to have just been a dream. Well, I was curious, so I spent a good amount of time searching online, until I found this place, and it matches almost exactly. Go figure. A landscape with these sorts of features isn't on an alien planet. It really exists.
I had a dream about a different place that was accessed to by a car-boat, like an island city. It's rare that I get these types of dreams. This dream happened after I took the first shot of the Novovax vaccine.
Hi, Fatty McTraveller !! Thanks for this, I love this area and visited it a lot in the 80s & 90s, had a lot of fun 🤩 !! Great shots of the dunes 01:11 , 01:50 , 02:36 , 03:16 !! Thanks again, brought back good memories . Greetings from Scotland 🏴. Cheers, Don 🙋♂️
Do you drive right up to the look out? Or do you have to hike a few miles to get there? I want to take my family there as it will only be slightly out of our way on a summer trip.
If you are talking about the giant sand dune into the lake it is called "Sleeping Bear Dunes Overlook" and is found at the far end of the Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive Loop...the wooden pier is a short walk from the parking lot. If you want to hike I am sure there are a few hiking trails that get here...but I am sorry I do not know the names.
Is that huge dune climb at the beginning close to a road? I'd like to go there, but my family might not want to hike a long way. Especially with 2 kiddos😊
It is only about a 5 minute walk from the parking lot to the top of the dunes. The parking lot is at the top of the enormous dunes. I recommend getting there for sunset as well!
Always nice to see a video open with a pretty girl in a bikini! Would love to go check this place out. When you really think of it that is one huge pile of sand!
HUGE pile of sand, any video only does it a little bit of justice. The bigger dunes are a kind of miracle, when you see them from far away it doesn’t seem possible
Love it! Last year was my wife and i first time there. Stayed at the Platte River Campground last year and this year.
Thanks for sharing!
Sawlon don't forget to come on by Joes Friendly Tavern and pay us cooks a visit 😉.
I’ve been there last summer, and because of me, being disabled, I got in for free!

Beautiful. I live in Kenosha Wisconsin and love beautiful Lake Michigan !!!
I miss those days! So much fun!

You can park pretty close ..maybe a 2 minute walk from the parking lot gets you to this viewpoit.
Looks like you had a great vacation. Congrats on finding out what a really beautiful state Michigan is.
Hoping to go this summer!
Incredible area ...I believe that this park is home to the highest freshwater dunes in the world .
That is insanely beautiful. I love sand believe me.
Sudbury Ontario to this place was the one of the best road trips. Traverse city was very nice too. Michigan is a beautiful state .
Best place to ever go vacation
I would sled down that in winter
Have fun getting back up.
Jesus Christ bro
You will be so badly injured. Worth it tho
Lol and just fly into the icy water going like 20 feet deep lol
Love the video. I want so badly to make it up there soon!!
Thank you! it is a far away trek to Northern Michigan.....but worth it!
They need to install one of those tubing lifts there. Let people slide down in a tube and get pulled back up. It would be a huge tourist attraction
I live here and don’t want anymore tourists then we already have
@@ParkerDavis-sl2qj lives in tourist area, complains about tourists.
@@johngalt671 Lol!
Why? They charge you 3 grand if you can't make it back up and need to be rescued. It's a good racket.
@@stephenanderson3381 I’d up the price for a better profit margin 😂
That sunset was beautiful....
Nice Job
What trail takes you to this overlook with the big steep hill and that wood pier?

@@choudenman ok thanks
Imagine putting a slipping slide down that
I was there last week
Was it busy?? wondering because of COVID??
It was busy

yeah very close to the road along the drive probably less than 100 yards
I climbed the bear dunes!when I was climbing down I uh rolled down 😅
You guys ever ski this?
Glen barber is the best I’m going there
park the boat and wait for night. you have the place to yourself and it's a complete blessing.
Solid advice but if you tell too many people you won’t have it to yourself to much longer 🥴
This is where Rebecca spend the week-end this week-end she will move to Florida
Does anyone know how "Devils Hole" looks like? I can't find any images or videos on the place.
Sorry I have no idea.
I walked down that yesterday
Kason 0125 where exactly is that place?
Nico Michigan is where I went
Kason 0125 i was last year at sleeping bear dunes but i could not find this exact place where ppl descend.
Nico huh nice
Nico yah I don’t know if it’s called that or not
yay!
I'm scared 😯
Guy eating pizza at 4:38...lol...lol...lol
Nice video
Oh my gosh.. even the young "fit" people were dying. I can barely walk an Oregon Coast Dune. 😂😂😂
If you were standing there 1500 years ago you would be under waterp
No. If you were standing there 15,000 years ago in the Ice Age, the pleistocene epoc, You would be under 2 Mile high glaciers
😁🤘🤗

Would be better without the extremely annoying music.

Michigan. The most beautiful state in the union. Sad it got left behind
