Thank you James for discussing this subject. Kemi and the cons are totally despicable using this as a way to hamper Labour, and lying about the "equiry" motion. The motion read as stopping the bill, not establishing a new enquiry.
James is part of the media that practise diversion over the years by refusing to report on these gangs ,and when he did he diverted the conversation to where they came from in Pakistan. He is clever but sly
I was traumatised by what happened to me over 60 years ago. Musk bringing abuse out into the open and shaming the UK government into acting will protect others. Fortunately we now have trauma informed therapists who can help survivors.
Working class kids have always been mistreated by public services . Make no mistake, this dreadful class system still exists even in 2025. Poor kids are neglected and disrespected by systems of education, police and justice, and the NHS. Why? Parents tend yo take care of their kids, and poor parents are not as demanding of all services, so those services serve best the more demanding parents. Also, when services are limited, EG 14 years of austerity,, choices are made regarding who gets attention and service. The poorest get the roughest deal, and this needs to change. Labour, please set up a parliamentary group to check that police and the justice system investigate abuse of these kids. Years of turning a blind eye, caused the grooming of these poor vulnerable kids to escalate and become normalised among groups.
James, what is traumatizing is that you won't stop attacking the man that gave survivors a voice back. Many have had to sign gag orders, Elon is a breath of fresh air for many victims. Many things can retraumatize survivors and trigger survivors, please stop demonizing the man that has put his neck and his money on the line to protect free speech. Also criticising a man with aspergers for his behaviour, tantrums was the language you used in a previous episode, suggests you are not well educated enough on the subject of the autistic spectrum to be ready to form an opinion on someone with that condition.
@tamasproductions Right. And? The grooming gang scandal is still a problem and Labour have now blocked any inquiries into it. I wonder what they are hiding. Some high people in Labour and the Tories and government positions are quite obviously involved in some way. But yeah let's look at Elon and his mean tweeting. Absolutely Comedy gold. 😂
I totally agree with James’ point that it was an absolute “cop out” by the police of their own incompetence to say that they were worried about community relations is the reason why they didn’t follow up the reports of abuse by the victims.
Bizarre, I believe the opposite is true…. the big complaint amongst the victims was that nobody was listening and not enough media coverage considering how widespread this situation was and still is 🤷♂️

It’s the usual bias one sided argument from O’brien , Nazir Afzal was indeed the former chief crown prosecutor of an organisation that let these poor girls down for years then has the audacity to sing his own praises For all his words about victims contacting him I for one have only heard victims wanting answers to the questions that need answering , why were they continually ignored by police / councillors and the cps ? Were people being put under pressure? Was there throw back from investigation like the Macpherson report? To suggest that the inquiry by professor Alexis Jay answered all the questions is an unfunny joke , it’s agreed that the fact non of the recommendations haven’t been implemented is a scandal all of its own , but to suggest that a report that mentions grooming gangs once is all that is required is a fallacy This has all the hallmarks of asking Paula Vennells if there should have been a post office inquiry
Nazir Afzal was appointed Chief Crown Prosecutor in 2011 and 1 of his 1st decisions was to overturn the decision not to prosecute the Rochdale grooming gangs. He led the prosecution that resulted in the 1st convictions of grooming gang members.
'It's a global issue, not a British issue' How about you deal with the British end of the problem and let the rest of the world figure out their own trafficking problems. (Actually, its a Pakistani issue, not British)
It is a pakistani issue and a British. Why are these British girls in care homes and not their own houses with their parents. Why are parents ostracised for being strict..,
How many calls has this man fielded from those victims that have not had redress in the courts? How many calls has this man had from the murdered girls by these gangs that have not been brought to justice? How many of the parents that called police ans were told to shut up, or face arrest, or were arrested have been retraumatised?
Mandatory reporting is absolutely necessary however the Labour Party need to redefine their definition of ‘Islamophobia’ and scrap their policy on if approved terms when describing Pakistani Muslim grooming gangs. @poyzer most don't as it would halt carrying out the required law changes and the required followups, i.e. further enquiries, that the enquiry calls fir. Ah, you didn't read the enquiry.
Everybody needs to stop speaking on behalf of the victims on both the left and the right and start letting them drive the conversation so they can tell us what they want to see happen.
@charlievarley Consultations rarely fully address a problem because they tend to be centred around the cost of implementation more than what measures adequately solve it. I've been involved in consultations for other issues that weren't nearly as important as this..and the govt did almost nothing with our suggestions, let alone include them in their proposals. I'm sure Starmer's plan makes improvements, but it's for the victims to say whether they're happy with it or not and they should be fully encouraged to do so.
@@arranodoherty4372Where is your evidence for this? The vast majority of victim statements are in favour of taking action, not commencing another 5-7 year inquiry. I have only seen a single call by a victim for a new inquiry.
LBC is exercising political sophistry here. What is retraumatizing victims is the realization that the police, courts and government did nothing to stop this for so long.
This is bringing up a poverty issue an issue of a lack of support of girls from broken and troubled families a lack of social workers, council services, government funding and care early on
9:50 Waiting for that remark . We’re a predominantly white country so of course the number would be higher. However for some victims not enough has been done
The investigations into the five towns affected was enough to trigger the national Jay enquiry. That enquiry reported back and gave 20 recommendations. Reported instances since that inquiry started, and has concluded, are irrelevent as, firstly, the inquiry had already started, secondly, the recommendations needed to be put in law, and finally, it would be expected if prosecutors had learned where and how, as the facts show, previous cases had failed. The implementation of the recommendations may uncover even more instances, this would mean that those new laws could be seen to be working, Therefore, at this stage, no new inquiries are needed. The problem with all of this is most people have no idea how these processes work and many are then stirred up by commentators who are happy to encourage social unrest and friction to support their own, often harmful, agendas.
@@mikebutler2420 I've read that there could be more than 40 towns affected by this, this is not Islamophobia, I can understand the feeling for a bigger review. Sometimes social unrest is needed, this was being brushed under the carpet it seems.

The trauma was caused by the peadophile gangs and the failings of the establishment that did not do enough to stop their actions despite knowing of the prolific problem in British cities. Such a biased and one sided interview, shame on you James, this was an opportunity for a tough interview with a person representing the system that failed these girls, instead it was a thinly disguised propoganda piece to further push your own political agenda. Your viewers need to open their eyes and take a more nuanced and critical look at what has happened and the agenda being pushed by the establishment and their media allies.
Given that 0 Reform MP's turned up to the debate on tackling violence against women and girls, I think we can safely say that Reform were grifting again. Using the very real and emotional situations of genuine victims to further their own narrative against the government, which contains some members who have contributed THE MOST to tackling violence against women and children.
It is a very difficult subject and above my pay grade. In any case, what would an enquiry do? We should have already realised mistakes were made in the past in stopping grooming gangs, and as long as Starmer pursues these paedophiles going forward, then we have reset to what should be the norm. Spend less time chasing scapegoats and more time protecting the innocent.
There’s loads of victims that want a proper independent public enquiry with the powers that holds. The so called enquiries they’ve had were conducted by the councils involved. Without the powers to force people to testify. Do you not think that will seem shady to many people? Investigate yourself in effect is what they allowed them to do. People know officials acted atrociously, and want them brought to account.
@@Londonchippieis that what an enquiry does? So years and years later we may have actions? Not all victims want an enquiry. About following up on the previous ones and following through with actions

Anyone who doesn't think we need an inquiry (not another inquiry, but a first time inquiry) on grooming gangs simply cannot have read the 2022 inquiry to understand its limitations. That This guy, of all people, don't understand that speaks for itself.
Looking forward to O'brien debating people in a public setting ....who don't agree with him. This would be a public setting similar to Oxford Union , before his mad supporters suggest he does it all the time in his super controlled radio show
The British people were also traumatized that this could happen and need justice, too. The world needs to know about this act of Islamic terror that should act as a warning to other countries.
I knew Musk was misappropriating the truth, and anyone who disagrees with him is painted as a Gang apologist, but I'm really thankful to hear this side of the events.
What has caused the delay on delivering on the old report? Who is responsible for not following through on the recommendations? Delay is denial of justice.
The old report was about chile abuse not solely the grooming gangs. Don’t you think these victims up and down the country deserve a national enquiry solely on their case alone? This shouldn’t be treated as a left/right issue so no need to climb on the labour bandwagon that it isn’t needed.
I do appreciate that domestic violence largely towards women but nothing is ever said about men that are put through domestic violence, I have personally seen several relationships where the men are suffering domestic violence and it seems to be on the rise, this also does not help when the police are called they automatically side with the women involved. For instance my brother was attacked by his ex with a knife when he was holding there child, we called the police and they did nothing, no statements taken, no action taken, they took her side as soon as they walked through the door.
So there it is folks. Asian grooming gangs aren't real. The police and judicial system are doing a great job. And Sir Kier Starmer is playing a blinder as PM. Happy days.....
They passed the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill through it’s initial reading yesterday. Including recommendations that were in the enquiry that the last Government commissioned and failed to act on.
But there have been victims speaking out saying theyre happy this is now come out again via Musk and others. Because they felt they were quietly being forgotten ? Potatoe potato
What narrative is that? Information is information, journalists seek out the facts, you don't have to like what people have to say, but it doesn't make it wrong. A lack of understanding on your part is an opportunity to learn, not something to fear or be ashamed of.
Reading these comments you would think that all of this has only just come to light and was never dealt with. Its 10 years old. So how about getting behind implementing the 22 recommendations laid out in the 7 year long enquiry commissioned by the last government who then ignored it? Implement those recommendations and then have a review. Rather than do nothing, vote against them and kick the can along the road even further.
Well done for this balanced and accurate account during this time. Needed to hear some facts to clear through the gaslighted musk fog which is gaining traction across the web. ❤

This was not in the news until Musk highlighted. All this media from all parties achieves little but more division. Lets see those complcit in allowing these crimes to happen. Even legal or psychiatric follow-up, with the best of intentions, carries the risk of retraumatising victims. If a society is meant to protect the vulnerable, the least it can do is to sanction those with malice or ill-intent.

That's is because being bad at your job is not illegal at the moment, though some police officers were reprimanded. The Child Wellbeing and Schools act that Labour are trying to legislate just this week would change this. The Tories and Reform tried to block it.

can someone at the Ministry of Truth please point out what he said that is a lie?
For all his words about victims contacting him I for one have only heard victims wanting answers to the questions that need answering , why were they continually ignored by police / councillors and the cps ? Were people being put under pressure? Was there throw back from investigation like the Macpherson report?
To suggest that the inquiry by professor Alexis Jay answered all the questions is an unfunny joke , it’s agreed that the fact non of the recommendations haven’t been implemented is a scandal all of its own , but to suggest that a report that mentions grooming gangs once is all that is required is a fallacy

How many towns were looked into in the original investigation?
15 minutes of googling and you will be an expert?
How many victims were spoken too aswell...labour love inquiries normally
