Thank you for your video! My daytime running light on the driver’s side went out partially and after your video, I called a Honda dealership and they said they’d replace not one, but both headlights because of the warranty. Their reasoning for doing the other was “if one went out, the other is probably going to be soon after.” I’m excited! An auto body shop was going to charge me almost $500 to replace one side’s headlight assembly, but Honda is replacing two for free. Thank God I saw your video!
@@GasKills ah thank you! I’ll keep that in mind. I think the part the $500 price was including labor. It was actually 4 something. I think close to 500. Still much better to get it free haha
I check my lights routinely by using vehicles that line up just right. Today, 4/9/23, I saw one that was out but thought maybe the curvature of the vehicle was not quit right. I just called the Honda dealership about this issue. They ran my VIN and said my model wasn't covered. I drive a 2016 Accord LX. Any help would be appreciated.
I just bought a 2017 Accord EX-L yesterday and I have a recall warranty on my daytime running lights. The passenger side is halfway going out. It has super dull lighting halfway through the strip. The Honda dealership I bought this car from yesterday scheduled an appt to have it replaced for free thankfully. Thanks for this video!
If the daytime running lights were integrated into the headlamp assembly and sealed within it (and thereby becoming a non-serviceable part), yeah, I can see how Honda would be butt-hurt over this issue. I can understand the consumer wanting a reasonable amount of coverage over this part of the car. 10 years to me is a VERY long period of time as far as I'm concerned. I would think things like this should come with, say, a 5-year warranty. That is a reasonable time period to me. Anything that survives that period of time will just about last the life of the car, which is about 15-20 years now. I don't know how the lawsuit has affected the warranty claim time, but Honda is being very generous with this IMHO.
Rickbearcat how are they being generous? Mine went out when my car had 6,500miles it's a '16 Accord Touring and the first time they replaced it under warranty(driver side) and when the passenger side went out 6 months later they tried to tel me they didn't cover that "anymore" and that I had to pay 1500 for replacement(in CA) I literally said the F word in front a bunch of people and I told them I wasn't leaving until they agreed to fix my light under warranty and they had no choice because I was not yelling it out but I made sure everybody heard what they were trying to tell me while people are in there shopping for the same cars with the same lights. People might say if you can't afford the parts don't buy the car but 1500 for a headlight is wildly overpriced for even the top trim Honda Accord. A 35000 car shouldn't need the whole headlight replace every 50k miles that seems to be the average lifespan of the DRLs
I totally agree this that 10yrs should be the standard. We are paying top dollar for quality and not aesthetics. That's the whole purpose of buying Honda or Toyota.
