I honestly don't have a problem in general with her views, in spite of disagreeing with many of them. Even when i disagreed i could at least see that she's actually put some thought into them, which is more than i can say for most of the pundits on both sides. My problem with her is that the eye rolling and dismissiveness towards the guest here was not a one-off event. She's been like that towards her co-hosts, guests and pretty much anyone that disagreed with her since day one of the Hill. I mean Christ, she managed to make her co-host Robbie, the most milquetoast and passive people to completely lose his sh*t a few times. I don't doubt that other people might have been fired for being critical of Israel, but i don't believe it's there case here. It might have contributed to it, but i don't know how anyone could have acted in this manner and not be fired for it. If this was Robbie and the guest was a Palestinian woman, he would have absolutely deserved to have been fired too. The problem in this case is that she crossed over the line from typical insensitivity into outright cruelty. For those who want to believe this was because of anti-Israeli views, consider this: if this interview was in November or December of 2001, and instead of this woman, it was someone who had a sibling, spouse, parent or child that was killed on 9/11, how you view her behavior look then?
She defends herself by saying the woman made it political, not her. That is a level of either obliviousness or dishonesty that, while i could give a pass to the average person, she doesn't get. She should have known better. To her it's political, but if you're living through it, it's your day to day existence. While she doesn't have a problem recognizing that when it's Palestinians, she's either unwilling or unable to afford that same consideration to the Israeli. Giving lip service to "yes, Hamas shouldn't have done this, but…" doesn't shield everything that comes after the "but."
I thinkthis story is illustrative of inability to many in the media to grasp that the world isn't black and white, and that two opposing views CAN be true at the same time. This isn't an either/or scenario. Israel HAS gone way beyond the pale in these current hostilities, and Hamas ARE murderous thugs who are responsibe for initiating this entire thing. A grievance with the Israeli government is not a justification for an attack on civilians at a concert.
Disappointed in Glen...Gray's behavior at the end of that interview was abhorrent.

The Daily Show took it about as far as it's allowed to go apparently, ...which you might think isn't very far, but simply "liking" an episode of it criticizing Israel was all it took for the Labour party to deselect one of its MP's over in the U.K.

I’m not saying she should’ve been fired BUT when I was 17 my dad went missing for 76 hours. When the cops finally told us that he’d killed himself it was heartbreaking but also a relief. The waiting and not knowing, not sleeping, was absolutely excruciating. I genuinely cannot fathom how this girl is even still functional after more than 8 months of that feeling. It would’ve killed me. She’s just a human being whose sister is being held by people who’ve undeniably dedicated their lives to hurting people like her. At least with my dad the only person hurting him was him. Just imagine being in this girl’s shoes and how the mind races in constant fear of how someone may be hurting her, how scared she is, if she’s sick or wounded, etc. This woman wasn’t a politician. She’s not a soldier. She’s just a human being distraught over her sister being kidnapped by people who view her as sub-human. You don’t need to transfer your hatred of Israel onto all Israelis. This woman is already going through a hell very few can even begin to understand. Why go out of your way to make it worse? Again, she shouldn’t have been fired BUT she also didn’t need to invite the sister of a hostage on to score political points. I just found that entire thing so unbelievably gross. I can’t understand that just like I can’t understand taking down the hostage posters. Would anyone ever take down a poster for a missing cat? No. So why do it for some completely innocent person living their absolute worst nightmare? I don’t get it. If you’re able to separate Palestinians from Hamas but not Israelis from the Israeli government then clearly you’re being driven by emotion and bias, not empathy. Just be normal. If someone is innocent and going through hell you don’t need to be a dick to them.
These handlers are much more powerful than we realize. This is a very dangerous situation.

In the west police and murder investigators will do the same looking for human remains to run DNA tests. After the war in Gaza there will UN investigators digging up graves to judge possible war crimes. It's an awful and disgusting job but someone has to do it if you care about learning what happened to the dead and/or solving crimes.

She was a rude, disdainful co-host who controlled the show. And she literally rolled her eyes at the sister of a hostage (who is still in captivity), when the sister asked her to believe women when they say they’ve been hurt, raped, etc. That eye roll was probably traumatic for the many female viewers of the show who have experienced rape or abuse. Briahna is not a victim here, she is one who rolls her eyes at victims. Unacceptable.

Even though I think they ultimately get some sort of major benefit from spreading propaganda, their effectiveness as Propaganda spreaders falls if people dont watch them. I generally agree with Briahna’s politics. I thought it very courageous of her to go on the panel with the Triggernometry host. Talk about walking into a lion’s den. So - was she fired for her position on Israel? Almost certainly.
BUT - I found her to be insufferable on The Hill. Her over-long, circuitous way of speech was unnecessary and annoying. I'm not pro-Israel. But a journalist can't resort to propaganda mode. You have to respect your viewers, your guests, and your co-host. Have to listen to opposing views, even if you disagree, and at least present the pretense of respect for the freedom of speech of others.
