I just love how The Klaus can write songs that go on FOREVER and yet never get dull or lose their energy, and seem to fly by in seconds. A lot of ambient sends me to sleep, but Klaus keeps me in a state of relaxed perpetual alertness, like an extremely chilled musical ninja.
I'm from Monterrey Mexico and I agree with you. Totally. "relaxed perpetual alertness", I don't have that English, but I understand. Let's enjoy the artist, his music and memory!
Ah MOONLAKE! I purchased this in 2005, and it triggered a huge Klaus resurgance for me! I had drifted from K.S. for some reason, so I had a lot of catching up to do! One of my favorite 2 train Commuter musical vehicles, ( Kontinuum, the other ) Sadly, a "Super, full, blood moon, a lunar eclipse is about to start, on the east coast of the US, ( Sept 27, 2015 )... and have cloud cover !!! Oh well, Klaus is right here, and I hear the MOONLAKE, even though I can't see it!!
Though I adore both Klaus Schulze and Tangerine Dream, it seems, listening to more of their recent material here on UA-cam, that Schulze both was more varied in his output and successful (at least to me) and pure in his approach. Thank you so much, Richard! =)
From the 1990s onwards and especially the 2000s TD were sometimes quite poor I think. Too many live albums and rehashing of old music. Plus the saxophone, percussion and guitar got tiresome in my opinion. Klaus tried to different things. Moonlake and Kontinuum were a great success I think.
@@RichardW001 Yes in the 2000's I stopped following what they did. To me they had lost everything that I liked about them and replaced it with something completely alien to me. Like many TD fans I have my favourite times. Cyclone was the first album that grabbed me and then Thief, Exit, White Eagle, and after that it started going downhill with (for my sensibilities at the time!) Hyperborea and Poland. So I started going back and exploring their earlier stuff and I found Stratosfear, Tangram, FM, Encore and Ricochet and loved all of them. This was vinyl from the local lending library or cassette tape...yeah that was.. long ago. Thank so much Richard W. Because of you I found Mark Shreeve again and Klaus too!
In the tiny group of TD + Schulze fans I know, there seems to be a general agreement, that TD lost their innovative touch/relevance, when Chris Franke and Johannes Schmölling left the group in circa 1987. Personally I regard 'Rubycon', 'Stratosfear' and 'Tangram' as their best works (I also have a soft spot for 'Green Desert' though). A harsh verdict on TD's output since 1990 would be that 'they subscribed to Boring Presets Inc. and repeated themselves endlessly with unimaginative 'spheric' remixes of their old works'. Schulze has somehow managed to output interesting and 'fresh sounding' albums throughout the majority of his career. I could do without some of his 'opera trance'-like works as well as the 'Contemporary Works' collection. 1984-1994 wasn't a great period for him (but En=Trance, Babel and Miditerranean Pads are still excellent albums). But the late 90s marked a quite impressive comeback for him. Although I do like his concert releases with Lisa Gerrard, I think 'Moonlake' is his only interesting solo album from the 2000s. I adore Schulze's truly groundbreaking works from the 70s and early 80s as well as his late 90s period. Ultimate Edition (50 CD set from 2000 covering unreleased stuff from 1970-1999) is one of the best 'records' I've ever bought. EDIT: Moments after I wrote this comment, I realise that Klaus passed away yesterday...
Biggest problem with Schulze is that he has recorded so little LOL! He has to be the most prolific of the New Age Electronic artists even including Steve Roach and Tangerine Dream. Amazing output for any artist, and all of high quality. Hats off to Klaus for his creativity and longevity. There will be more and for many years to come.
Curt Rayvis Hey - PETE NAMLOOK! He is the second guy beside KS from „Dark side of the Moog“! But I‘m sure - after a year inbetween now you already checked this genius, right?
Klaus is so far from his mates. Most same level ones to him are manuel gottching &Edgar forese..no one like him..he is like an universe.. Moon lake got amazing live track Mephisto!!!
L année prochaine, je fêterai mes 50 ans... D écoute de mon cher Klaus, qui doit maintenant envoûter le paradis de ses nappes ensorcelantes !!!!.... Je ne vous dit pas mon âge !!!.. Lol🎶🎹🎶🎶🎶🎶
This is way ahead of its times. I feel I had heard this music on movies and film soundtracks. I bet Klaus Schulze has been an inspiration to my fav current electro composers Stefan Bodzin and Boris Brejcha.
I love this Klaus Schulze!!! Whenever I have a thought that is about to appear in my mind, it is as if by magic that another musical rhythm is added in (in that layering style you do so well), which helps me block words from entering my mind while I meditate. I absolutely love this "Layering Effect" in the music itself!!! Klaus, You help me to connect to Source/Prime Creator as Prime Creator's Source itself!!! Blessings of Light to You!!! Kelly PS: Logic is the assassin of Intuition.
The essence of electronic music. Klaus Schulze's personality shines through. A thoughtful and kind person, a brilliant composer and musician. RIP (And many thanks RW for the upload.)
A long time classic rock fan, I was thoroughly bored with the same music. Last year at the age of 56, I was looking for something relaxing when I came across “Moonlake”. I was hooked and then I found “Kontinuum”. This is good stuff! Which one should I listen to next?
im 75 and love john peels, pop, recently classical ,b4 love michael Nyman, and composer for Tarkovsky his film solaris, music call Ocean wow listen to it in the dark, composer is father of russian electronic .here u get something like it too.love this esp the Oboe w colorful ethnic synthethezer.thx for all comments.Music keeps us young esp all this War n Pandemic .lock down in hk
Check out the box set "Mindbeams" 18 hours of pure sonic bliss. One of many K.S. box sets in his discography, and all of it unique to this particular collection.
Not one his best albums, the drumming is very basic and the chord progressions are the same, I certainly wouldn’t listen again. It would take a lot to dissuade me from listening to X and Body Love Vol 2, l thought those were among his best works.

Great Album from Klaus! 🥰👍👍👍
Damn great MEPHISTO...thats crazyyyyy
iconic trance masterpiece.
