- Hello friends! I NEED YOUR HELP!
In this week's video, I show how I altered the seat (crotch length) in a pair of RTW shorts and then I show the Style Arc Mildred jumpsuit.
I made the jumpsuit, and the crotch is way too low! I have some ideas for how to fix it, but I want your suggestions. Comment below and let me know what your think!
OOTD Seamwork Marlow top in lightweight cotton poplin lavender with dark purple flowers and RTW jeans.
pattern: Style Arc Mildred jumpsuit in dark blue (Brussels washer?) linen
Thanks for watching! GO SEW BEAUTIFUL!
Great save on the shorts! One option is to turn the jumpsuit into a dress by changing the crotch seams into front and back center seams. If you do decide to raise the crotch on the jumpsuit, you def want to pin it where you think you want it, and then sit down to make sure you can still sit comfortably. Keep us posted! 💗
@AndraMakes Thanks, Andra. I hadn't thought about turning the jumpsuit into a dress. Great advice to pin first and sit down in them to make sure they're comfortable. I'll keep you posted!
I can’t really help with fixing the jumpsuit, but really hope you’re able to save it because it would be so sad for you not to feel comfortable in it. Hope you have a great weekend!
@dizzyquiltsandsews thanks so much Izzy!
two ways to fix this first you will have to move the pockets down a couple or 3 inches way 1 just sew a horizontal 1 or 1.5 inch seam around your natural waist line or way 2 sew a bais tape inner horizontal elastic casing about 2-3 inches below your natural waist line and insert about half inch elastic to put in the casing for a blouson look to the top be sure the elastic is big enough to go over your hips and do make the buttonholes and buttons on the front straps personally i think the blouson idea would look great on you
@@patriciaaustin2722Thank you for your suggestions. I'll have to think about the blouson idea. #1 is what I was thinking about doing.🥰
Hi Becky I've never made a jumpsuit or a Style Arc pattern so cant give you any advice from experience but think the jumpsuit looks really cute on you. When you pulled it up thought maybe cut and seam across the middle too
@bridgethope5375 thanks Bridget. I'll keep working on it. 🥰
Hi Becky, i like the jumpsuit on you,but the crotch is really low as you ,what a shame,. I started to cut some trousers out,and found i had not got enough fabric, so thought i would make them into shorts, the trouble is thees so called shorts come down to my ankle, lol. it must have been a very tall person the pattern was drafted for, just learning to make pants for myself, We live and learn. Happy sewing Becky. hugs Jean.xx
@newcreations1064 thank you Jean. Hope your shorts work out!
Hi Becky, is it possible to shorten the pattern and align it to the crotch and redo the top of the Jumpsuit. You would also have to reposition the pockets. This would avoid the waist seam.
The pink shorts came out great.
@@barbaraavelez8048hello Barbara! Yes that's a great idea. I wish I had thought of that! I already "fixed" it by making a seam at the waistline. Thanks for the suggestion. ☺
I think the pattern for the jumpsuit is actually meant to have a drop crotch, looking at the pictures. Yours looks exactly the same and is actually quite cute on you. I'm like you though. I hate the feeling of a dropped crotch too. I agree with @patriciaciaaustin on ways to fix it. I would probably go with the elastic casing idea myself.
@sew_So_beautiful I think you're right, it probably is meant to be dropped. But, I'm not sure I can get used to it 🤔 . Thanks for watching and for your comment!🥰
Is the pattern designed to be long in the crotch?
