I don't watch stand up at all but I do watch a lot, and I mean a lot, of comedy guys' podcasts. I don't care for setup jokes really, what I find more impressive and enjoyable is just talking and quick wit zingers and you too are perfect for that. Take Norm for example, never actually liked any of his specials that I watched but yet I followed his career closely since SNL, he was the all time great for me when it comes to just being generally funny in normal setting shooting shit. I doubt there's any video or audio recording of his that I haven't seen/heard.
It doesn't translate for me, have you watched it live totally different. I watched Jimmy carr live and it was class.

Oh hell no. Comedy lovers love comedy. But a lot of 'comedians' are better at podcasting than stand up. Different skills. Problem is you all see stand up as the top of the pyramid. We the people, don't. Podcasting is a medium. And as for laugh efficiency, the best podcasts provide same volume of laughs--because they don't forget it's a performance.
Yeah, most comedians that I watch on podcasts don't make me laugh much in their stand up. Blobby Kelly, Bobby Lee, rich Vos, Jim Norton, mark Normand, Joe list... and Joe Rogan has especially bad stand up. Come to think of it, I don't really know any real good stand ups anymore since louis ck. William Montgomery is one where I don't like his podcast, but his stand up is good.

Mark couldn't have explained Memphis any better. So many wonderful, talented people in this area and still it is suffering a slow death. Alot of interesting history of culture, art, and commerce but a lack of jobs and a 20+ year run of crooked local politicians have damn near drained this place. Mark, glad you got to visit while it still had a flicker of life left

24:00 concerning podcast fans vs comedy fans, it’s much easier to listen/watch a podcast than it is to schedule a day to go to a comedy show. It’s prohibitively expensive in both time and money for a lot of people especially if you don’t live near a city with a large enough comedy club.

1. You never got to the big reveal that Shakespeare invented the term pickle to refer to having a problem, being stuck.
