    1. Busting through low motivation.
    2. Alternatives to training when injured. Still nursing that Achilles
    3. Changing sprockets on your bike for varying courses, or when your fitness improves or declines. (Thinking about upping my high gear)
    4. Ever thought about interviewing Nancy Clark RD? ( sports nutritionist with 500,000 books sold and works/worked with the Red Sox and Celtics) I have an appointment with her next Friday.

    1. basic bike fit.
    2. advantaged/disadvantages of clip on aero bars, fun non-scientific speed test to prove advantage or disadvantage.
    3. how to nail T1 (when you don't have shoes already attached to pedals - as have mtb shoes)
    4. Maybe a meet/talk to some pro''s getting into their highs and lows and what makes them tick etc. to give us some motivation
    5. Ways to make training more interesting (breaking up a run/bike swim into less dull monotony) by giving some examples of fun things to do while training - strava segments - race a lamp post - short intervals - 10 press ups half way around (did actually see this in a training page somewhere on the net.
    Have a good hol.

    well done Taren, u r an inspiration
    video suggestions:
    - swimming mp3 player tests (or at least give us ur feedback on the FINIS which you used recently)
    - when someone is injured (or traveling, or does have the bare minimum time), what training is recommended to minimize loss of fitness

    Would love your analysis of the Maffetone method for (1) training and (2) eating. Clearly you / Coach Pat don't subscribe to it, but I'd love your thoughts. Have you tried it without good results? Do you just not think that it would work? How do you explain Mark Allen's ongoing reliance on Maffetone? (On the eating portion, I think you differ when it comes to meat. I think you could employ the Maffetone method w/o meat though, maybe? Regardless, as a meat eater, I'd love your analysis for us non-vegetarians!)

    I'm thinking of floaty pants for their safety rather than sporting functionality. I'm getting on a bit, and am thinking of taking up swimming for exercise, but I'm a little worried that my ambition might outdo my ability. Exhaustion and cramp are a consideration. Would floaty pants give me the buoyancy necessary if, in an emergency, doggy paddling wasn't possible, or would they make me top heavy, defeating the idea of them acting like a life vest? Many thanks...

    Don't know whether you have addressed this issue in a previous vlog, but what about one on T1.
    Specifically on efficiently getting on the bike and dealing with putting the bike shoes on, and all related issues.
    If you have covered this already, please tell us how to find it.
    Thanks, and have a nice holiday.

    Coach pat question: when doing cycling training should I train in a hard gear with low cadence to build muscle or high cadence to build fitness?

    • @CabinDweller9
      @CabinDweller9 7 років тому +1

      Coach Pat question: how much should one expect cycling to help running fitness? I am 6 weeks into a broken collarbone. I've been riding on an indoor trainer a huge amount almost the entire six weeks. Started running again and don't feel I have lost anything. 18 miles today with same pace, HR, and RPE as before. Was expecting my running to have suffered.

    Not sure if your currently looking for new shoes but a Kenyan running shoe company called Enda has just started up. There aim is to turn some of the international reputation for pumping out epic runners into some economic benefit to the country, they're the first Kenyan shoe company and there shoe is designed for a heel/mid foot strike and is meant to be the perfect half marathon shoe. If your looking for a new pair of shoes they could be really cool to check out. The company is called 'enda'

    In regards to your comment in the video about the floaty pants making your waist come up... someone should really make "floaty calf sleeves" to keep your lower legs up. My million dollar idea!

    • @TriathlonTaren
      @TriathlonTaren  7 років тому +2

      I have, but I don't really want this to become a pay for play model. I'd rather force myself to innovate and come up with cool services (like the training), content (like the new podcast), and products (like the kits) that people really enjoy. Who knows though, maybe I'll change my mind in the future but that's where my thinking is at now.

    • @roprezm
      @roprezm 7 років тому

      Triathlon Taren I second that thinking Taren. Your channel is a success based on the format it has and the added value comes from the extras which I personally Im glad to support. T shirt. Training Plans.
      Hey suggestion: for the kit make it a with the option of a 2 piece! Some of the "not on the lighter side" beginner guys like me can benefit from that!

    Hi Taren. Thanks for the video!
    I've requested info on the following topic a couple times now. "What type of physique will excel at each portion of a tri (swim, bike and run)/race lengths?" I've been wondering about this ever since you posted your "Top 10 Triathletes of All Time" video. If I remember correctly you were questioning whether specific athletes had the correct physique for specific events. I'm going to go watch it again...
    Coach Pat Q: What could you have done differently that would have helped you complete the long swim?
    He probably doesn't want to hear about the long swim though :)

    • @TriathlonTaren
      @TriathlonTaren  7 років тому

      Quick answer: at the age group level I've seen all sorts of different body types excel. At the elite (top 1% of 1% of 1%) just look at the different body types of Olympians. Swimmers: tall broad shoulders and long warms, cyclist light but high strength to weight ratio, runners, very slight with small legs.

    How are the floaty pants holding up? I’ve heard that neoprene doesn’t hold up well in the chlorine. Have u had issues with rips or tears from swimming in the pool with the neoprene shorts?

    • @TriathlonTaren

      Nope, they're all good. They don't last forever but if you rinse them out after using they're fine

    i have a buoyancy problem. i need the best buoyant type. i was almost killed when i was a kid and have metal in my body that bogs me down. what would u suggest for me to wear? also what wetsuit would float the best? i hope u see this its very important to me to know this :(

    • @TriathlonTaren
      @TriathlonTaren  6 років тому

      Only you would know by experimenting. You can't wear a wetsuit all the time, there are races where they're not allowed. So if you wear one to train, you'll be in trouble when you try to swim without one.

    Hey Taren. I'd like a video (or portion thereof) which addresses what you do when you don't have an upcoming race. There was a time between the long swim and you deciding to do Texas. I wanna know what the focus of your training was then and the kind of training you did to stay in the game.

    Can you compare your nutrition and prep to Coach Pat? Also talk about balancing sleep and workouts. If you have busy weeks at work do you take an hour off sleep to get a workout or do you sleep in to recover?
