Thanks for the video! I worked at that King’s for several years, starting when it opened in January 1974. It’s also where I met my wife (who was a waitress)!
You need to do the abandoned Monroeville one before they level it. You can't miss it, somebody arranged the letters on the sign to say, "Dose." Spent a lot of time at this Plum location, the Monroeville one, and in Delmont.
Thanks! I always enjoy your vids. I think it would be neat for you to have lunch at a Kings which is still open, and then go see an abandoned one. Or vice versa. Anyways all the best, hope you keep the vids comming.
I remember going here with my paternal grandparents sometimes when they lived in Murrysville Sad to see this gone even the one in Monroeville I’m sad to see go as well I’ve been there before too and hopefully you can do a video of it someday soon before they do something there
Wallie, there's a newly closed Panera Bread on 2630 Linglestown Road in Harrisburg. It's been closed for months and for now it's temporarily closed. You can check it out if you'd like. And, there's another Panera Bread that's temporarily closed in Harrisburg, but, I don't know what road it's on.
Hartley King retired and sold the operation to some holding company. Under the founder's ownership, the restaurant had to be a point of pride for him. But to the new owners, King's was just another line on a balance sheet. Similar to Kmart, I think they determined it was more profitable to sell the real estate than continue the business. There a 4 locaations left as of this writing: Greensburg, Canonsburg, Kittanning, and Franklin. Apparently no buyers are interested in those arcels of lad.
Dude, I have memories going to this exact Kings every Sunday afternoon as a kid. I grew up in the area. There’s not many Kings restaurants still open are there? Thanks for the upload!
The one they closed in Delmont right off of rt 22/66 has been renovated and made into a beach themed cafe. Haven’t been there yet, but miss my old kings.
This was my parents' favorite spot. They used to go there in the evenings for cinnamon ice cream and apple pie. I would always get a salad with Ken's lite Italian.
I always wanted to try Kings. I heard their food is very good. Also there’s an abandoned Taco Bell, Boston Market and Toys R Us in Monroeville, I’m wondering if you could film it.
bruh it is absolutely wild being stoned as hell and seeing a 7 minute video with 4k views about an unremarkable location I've passed 100s of times because its 3 miles from home
like straight up like 2 months ago i sat in the wendys parking across the highway staring at REAKFAT UNCH DNR for an hour while i talked on the phone with my grandma lmao
A September 2022 Trib article says it's going to be a Sheetz. Heck, I remember eating at this King's restaurant with my first ex-fiancee in the early 1980's. Time sure does fly.
I know about 15 or 20 years ago eat n park had some locations in the Lancaster pa area and I think they had one in Harrisburg pa to but they decided to close them down so there not in the area anymore
In the Penn Hills area, King's and Hoss's family restuarants closed well over 15 years ago. They were both staples in the community. The King's used to be open 24/7. We had YEARS of GOOD memories there, from "After the Club" breakfast, family "meetings" to taking our kids to lunch on Saturday afternoons. We got to know some of the staff, at the time and ALWAYS seen a friend, acquaintance or neighbor while going in there to dine in or stop by to pick up Frownies, their half pies or a container of their cinnamon flavored vanilla ice cream. There's still an Eat-N-Park open nearby, but it never had the same "vibe" as King's...at least for me, anyway. Sad to see so many shut down. We've been to several other locations after Penn Hllls closed. Monroeville and Plum was the most recent. King's is truly missed.
They are putting a Sheetz in that plaza. The company that owns that plaza owns most of the buildings/land on the Golden Mile Hwy including the other Sheetz on Golden Mile Hwy. They probably would have stayed open for a little bit longerThey are keeping the current tenants in the plaza, moving the pizza place next to Subway, and tearing down the rest of the building. That plaza hasn't been doing well so I am glad they are tearing it down
I remember going there to breakfast with my bf when we were still fresh. Now we're 13 years in and still eating garbage together in Picksburgh like two little gay trash pandas😂
As of October 2023, its gone. They tore it down this last week. new Super Sheetz is coming the signage says. You got to see it right before it went away forever.

Thanks! Yeah, they were pleasant.
Love your Buc-ees 4th of July shirt! That is reeeeeeaaally cool!
Blast from the past. I worked there in high school. It was one of the weekend spots for plum HS students.
I used to be the midnight server at this location years and years ago. Some of my favorite times were had there. I could tell some real good stories.
I drive by there ever day! Welcome to my neck of the woods!
Hello neighbor! From Shaler Township!
Thanks! I always enjoy your vids.

Grew up in holiday park. This was the go to spot. Always missit.
Good video! Always enjoy watching your abandoned videos! Never heard of Kings before! Looks like, it could be opened right up again!
We are getting a Sheetz around Detroit Michigan
I am enjoying your posts including the ones about driving keep up the good work

The one in Canonsburg has been closed longer than it's ever been open. I'm pretty sure it's not even open for business anymore.
@@TheLandBeforeHeim The Harmarville location is now a marijuana dispensary.
👍👍👍👍👍 I've eaten at the Wintersville OH location King's restaurant. I liked their food. I think this location is still open.
Awesome video man
Lol the eat part before the end that was pretty good have a good rest of the day
Have a great night wallie and still awesome

You should do the Bed Bath and Beyond in Abilene, Texas. It got closed recently.
Great video!

The Jaguar/Land Rover dealership bought the Boston Market next door and made it into some type of office and overflow for their used vehicles.
Awesome Wallie
Love your videos! And your jokes always make me laugh 😂
Ty for doing these
We used to like Kings. Sad to see all the ones close to me are no longer open.

I felt the same being all stoned in California seeing a place used to work at 20 odd years ago pop up in my suggested videos.
As always great video. 👍
They need to put a “DON’T” above the “EAT” sign!
😂
I lived a 2 minute walk from that King’s. Was pretty bad when I went, not surprised they went out of business honestly.
You made me laugh a lot when you said those words again
Best pizza you can get right behind you. Conca D’Oros.

It’s always sad to see an abandoned King’s. There’s one in Bentleyville, PA that you should check out, if you haven’t already.
Bentlyville doesn't have one. The closest to there is Canonsburg. There are only 4 locations left.
@@t4876755 Bentleyville has an abandoned King’s
I'll get on it as soon as I can!
It's been a while since you filmed a Kings location!
I give this video 📼📼📼📼📼,👍👍,⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thanks!
I know about 15 or 20 years ago eat n park had some locations in the Lancaster pa area and I think they had one in Harrisburg pa to but they decided to close them down so there not in the area anymore
Yeah I ate at the one in harrisburg many times closed probably 12 years ago
that is sad that is this chain is becoming less and less
There's an abandoned Kings in New Castle, PA
Conca D’ora pizza in that plaza is very good.
cool
Kings at Delmont is closed on Rt. 66.
Not sure if you know, but the Taco Bell in Monroeville moved to another location, and the old one is abandoned I believe.
Wene did it closed
Greensburg is still open, they seem to do good business.
Here's what I think it says Reak..FAk..Tunch..DoneR...haaa yah it's done all right..😅and the second one says Be..Kerfull..To..Munch..A dinner....😂

😮😃😎👍 amazing video and Government fail abandoned all locations and Waste money on a wall.
That basement door was probably a water heather room or storage closet
No more get go..... GeZ... They have so many gas stations going up waynesberg, pa etc.... Every mom and pop station seems sold out ..
UPDATE: they are building a sheetz here
They said they were putting a Sheetz here but they said they can’t do that now I forget why though
their first location was in North Versailles, PA
I googled it and its also closed
And so that is so true about pain. Always wasting tax dollars on roads that don't need to be fixed but roads that do need to be fixed they don't fix
Kings
