ThankYou for the discussion of such interesting and varied devices (I luv this & these)!!!!! In 1967 when I became excited about photography I started with a Mamiya 500DTL ,, But within a few months I bought my first Nikon FTN... and was quite naive about other equipment (other than SLR).... During my life many other cameras came to be used professionally as well as for fun. I went thru a buying spree of buying every type of camera for less than $10.00 (I still have large boxes of them that I take out and play with them).. About 20 yrs ago when I went to the birth country (Latvia)of My Wife, My future brother-in-law gave me a FED & a SALUTE (Leica copy, Hasselblad copy(Russian)) after that I could not help myself and I went on a collecting spree.... But by that time I was helplessly in the grasp of digital cameras. Now the Nikon Z Cameras :).. I cannot bring myself to use the Beautiful Collectables (the expense of using them and the slower pace) Thanks Again (Very enjoyable) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :) :)
I love the clean look of the Canon P, but for me, the viewfinder is too busy. I don't like having all the framelines for focal lengths I'll probably never use in the viewfinder. To that end, my choice is the latest version of the Canon 7s with the improved viewfinder. For me that camera is everything I need in a rangefinder.
@@trels203 honestly the build quality of the P is much better with the speed selector being the conventional rotational switch while the L1 has the lift-turn mechanism. The P also has a better curtain with it being a metal sheet (has its drawbacks too especially with reparability). But the L1 has a better viewfinder and rangefinder since you can switch from 35-50-rf as compared to the fixed frames of the P. If you can find one in the budget id recommend the VI-L
- Your knowledge about cameras is astonishing and I love watching your videos. Thank You so much for making these videos, you are a genious!😃/Lisbeth from Sweden 🇸🇪
I’d love a be Barnack but not yet ready to pay so much for one. I bought a zorki 4 loved the experience sadly had a bad light leak the seller offered to repair it but not heard from him for months I’m hoping he’s still with us. Anyway just bought a canon L3 just awaiting a lens to arrive it feels awesome. I like the look of the leotax the canon p is classy the 7 looks ok to me too. Cracking episode cheers 📷
Another very interesting video from your channel, thank you. I have got several LTM cameras from Leica, Soviet models and the Canon P, each with its own set of lenses. The problem that I have experienced, is when I try to interchange the lenses between them. Most of the time I can't always get the infinity on focus. Do you have similar experiences? Do you have any solution?
ThankYou for the pronunciation ,, What about Porsche ????? (I own and Luv both) Phoenix, Arizona, USA (I was in Germany for about a week this last summer,, Truly enjoyed Your beautiful and historic country),,, Sorry to go on But (My lineage, 5 generations in USA but I come from both parents of German Descent) (I hope You have a great day :) :) :)
I have the canon Vi-T. Best looking Leica clone. With that Ltm 50mm 1.8. I seen many range finders but never come across any with a trigger winder like mine.
I like Canon 7 since the look is just too beautiful but the only drawback for me is the absent of hot shoe. I like to use flash to capture like Bruce Gilden style and that's why a build in hot shoe would be nice. I know there's a coupler but I need to pay extra and with a hefty price.
I saw a camera for sale on Ebay which the seller claim could be unique. It was an early Fed, faked up to look like a Canon. A Russian Leica copy faked to look like a Japanese Leica copy.
It's not that is difficult but selenium panels are practically unobtainable. Some 7 models operate only in the low light mode and are stuck in the normal mode it should not be a difficult adjustment.
i really like your videos could you give me some way to communicate with you . i have questions about a tlr i have that is causing me issues... shutter now seizing up without naptha. this is important to me because it is part of my business 🙏
Russia also needed something for their optics factories to do after WWII so they helped themselves to the Leica blueprints while in Germany and geared up to make Leica knock-off cameras by the millions. Quality control is said to be variable with them. I have a Zorky 4-K, one of the last rangefinders they made, before their regrettable foray into SLR's. Pretty much all of the Russian Leica imitation cameras I see on e-Bay are listed from Ukraine.
I'm sorry that you feel the need to pronounce words two different ways and to explain the reason for your own pronunciations. People that make petty comments about your pronunciation of brand names and other words need to get a life.
Just bought a Canon VI L 6L. This channel is being underrated. Really love it.

Fujica Compact Deluxe - all I'll ever need 😊
Have myself a Canon P and L1 love them both
Which would you prefer and which would you say has a higher quality build?

I bought a Yashica 35 from you a couple years ago. I love it. The YE and or YF are on my want list the YF being my white whale.
I have both cameras. My two favorite rangefinders, bar none.
Hello sir! Can you do a video on the Leotax K3 ? Can’t find anything on youtube. Great video as always! Thanks!
I have a canon VT it's smooth running camera and one of the more accurate rangefinder systems
Thanks for showing us these alternatives. Leica correctly pronounced is Laika. Greetings from Germany.

Nice to hear that you enjoyed Germany. Do u know the next bigger city they came from?
Which "Por-schee" model (not porsch and also not porschi) u own?
Neither Germans nor Japanese get anywhere close to pronouncing Polaroid correctly, so ease up on the pronunciation rant.

Is it difficult to get the light meter repaired in the Canon 7?
It's not that is difficult but selenium panels are practically unobtainable. Some 7 models operate only in the low light mode and are stuck in the normal mode it should not be a difficult adjustment.
I'd love to see the Canon 7 with the selenium window replaced by a piece, in black or silver, saying "Canon". Something for the 3D printing experts.
I would like a Like-a, please
It is 100% pronounced lie car.
ei in German is pronounced like eye
ka is pronounced like car.
your best video (i love rangefinders)
As someone who was born not far from Wetzlar, where Leicas hail from, I can assure you it's pronounced "like-uh". No laying whatsoever.😄
Another good one.
Canon Model 7 🤩🤩🤩
i really like your videos
could you give me some way to communicate with you . i have questions about a tlr i have that is causing me issues... shutter now seizing up without naptha. this is important to me because it is part of my business

Agreed. I'm in Japan and have tried contacting you several times

I had Fed 5b. It's shit that broke all good photos.

Ok: it is not LE, it is pronounced LA(ica). 😊
I love this channel and youre a great and knowledgeable guy, but please stop saying layca.
No canon 2f ep????.....HOW DARE U!!!!....LOL...jk
