About 14/15 largest congregations of the CofE all stand against SSM, so there is a start, the laity are generally conservative while the lower clergy are evenly split. One of my main concerns is that we send missionaries to continents who are already Christian like Latin America and Africa, but not for Europe as it's being overtaken by paganism and atheism. I see it very common with US women in particular.
And there definitely is something to that, flooding already Christian areas with missionaries isn't very helpful. However, I think that you're seriously over estimating the Christian populations in many of those countries. My denomination works with a Presbyterian denom. to do Reformed mission work in Mexico, and that country is in desperate need of the Gospel. We do have Reformed missions in Italy (different organization). The historical denominations in Europe are also dying out though. Churches here in North America can only do so much. Missionary work also isn't just about the message, a lot of the time it includes building churches and schools and investing heavily into the poorer populations.
I assure you that “paganism” is not even a thing. It’s either atheists into healing crystals or atheists trying to appeal to the right by marketing enlightenment secularism as greco roman or norse. It’s all a complete larp.

Count the cost first out of seminary being called to a PCUSA Church, rather than a PCA church or a plant (even an OPC ?), until you are more established, etc.! Redeemed Boomer
I’m a Catholic revert who just completed my OCIA, but I’ll glad to see things like this. I attended a Lutheran Elementary school and while I never fully agreed with them, I still felt there were more similarities than differences. The church that ran the school I attended has maintained a conservative stance on things overall but seeing the pressure on them to liberalize has just been sad. It’s caused many of my friends from that school to not just leave that church but in some cases Christianity altogether. Hopefully we see more of this conservative return to mainline churches. Even if I disagree with their denomination, I never like seeing a church lose its members…unless they’re joining us ;)
We should make a map of PCUSA churches that are missing pastors, and we should use it to get PCA pastors to find employment within them. I think that's a good idea.

My wife and I worshipped with Hollywood Pres in July and found them to be a wonderful congregation with an incredible building right in the heart of Hollywood. May God bless this new pastor to love and serve this church well.
I'm so happy to see the success! I really wish this movement was for ABCUSA as well. ABCUSA has gone much more liberal then people think, just look at First Baptist Church of Salt Lake City. It's incredibly sad.

@JudeStradtner With a slight stretch of the definition, one could say that the SBC is mainline considering how long it has been around, how it has stood the test of time, and how large it is. I attend an SBC church, so I am obviously biased, but there is an argument to be made there. I personally think that, with the right strings pulled, the SBC could lead a Reconquista-like movement in the future. I think this is something we should all consider moving forward.

While I am not Presbyterian, I attended First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood from Fall 2018 to Spring 2020 (until COVID) while I was at UCLA for law school. It was extremely solid then and I am glad to see that it still is going strong. Also, (though much less important) it has a beautiful view of the Hollywood sign.
This church is right by one of the worst homeless encampments in LA, I believe they do a lot of outreach to the unhoused population. There’s a lot of latent good in these liberal churches, they often just need solid pastorship.
I was raised within the Presbyterian Church during the 80s. My Mother denounced God way back then and such never went back. Regardless Presbyterianism will always have a soft place in my heart. I appreciate the work Mr. Zoomer.
I hope this continues to grow. I'm an evangelical ABCUSA member, but any victory of any Christian church returning to good Christian founding is something to celebrate.

I'm not Presbyterian. My father is. He was a PCUSA pastor for almost 40 years. He tells me things are so bad in our area that not only have many churches closed, but the ones that are still open are pastored by Arminian pastors.
My ABCUSA church did this unintentionally. We have an ex-SBC pastor right now. I think it’s a bad thing in our case, because he’s always trying to make our church more low church and evangelical. We weren’t liberal to begin with.
RZ doesn't just sneer from the sidelines or wish destruction for a now liberal denomination. He struggles for something better with little thanks and plenty of criticism from both the liberal wing which he opposes and the trad wing which want to peel off disaffected Mainliners.

The success or failure of the Reconquista is going to depend on how well you can affect the leadership. A bunch of laymen getting shoved into churches will only go so far, it's the pastors and bishops where the real fight is at. But what do I know? I'm just a stupid Evangelical Pentecostal, after all.

You may want to consider the Theocentric Critical Theology modality, it is still very missional and justice driven, but it starts with God and Scriptural study and has an aim of the return of the prophetic voice to the church. It holds that one must critique yourself first, the church second and the world third. Lobbying and polemical preaching is seen as prophetic praxis. The best thing about it is that it is apolitical and resistant to ideological capture due to its theocentric stance.
I suppose one of my questions regarding the movement is the future of the evangelicals. Is the plan for the ABCUSA to absorb the SBC? Are the evangelicals going to replace the main line as the main line? Are they simply going to be the launch pad of the mainline?

It is better for the conservative pastors to minister to liberal churches to save souls, than regurgitate familiar talking points to a conservative congregation who already believes and is saved and will agree with whatever you say.
You realize the main point of church is the edification of the believers, not to save souls. Saving souls is a happy by product if God so chooses. You have some whacked out ecclesiology.

Well the PCUSA and PCA are in a branch of Christianity called Presbyterianism and Redeemed zoomer believes its the most accurate to the Bible. You realize the main point of church is the edification of the believers, not to save souls. Saving souls is a happy by product if God so chooses. You have some whacked out ecclesiology.

Well the PCUSA and PCA are in a branch of Christianity called Presbyterianism and Redeemed zoomer believes its the most accurate to the Bible. Of course he believes ALL Christains are saved wether Baptist,Lutheran, or Presbyterian but he just believes Presbyterianism is the most faithful to the Bible.
The reason he likes the PCUSA is because it used to be super influential in America till the Heretics
(the liberals/progressives) took Over so its his mission to revive the PCUSA.
It's because it's the largest Presbyterian organization in the USA, and he's a Presbyterian American.
