Hello! You do not have to worry about printing your text in reverse. The way it looks when printed is exactly the same as it will look when applied to your piece! Thanks for watching!
Awesome can't wait to try this. I have the printer and waterslip decal paper for my printer, I just need to glaze some pieces and print my decals. Thanks for the video!
Hey Dianne! I'm sure you could, as long as you can print it you can make it into a decal. The file type doesn't affect the printing process. It's really cool when you start getting into it! Thanks for watching!
Yes! There are many brands of decal paper I just prefer this one. I tried a cheaper brand awhile back and the decals kind of shriveled up in the kiln, so I would say avoid the really cheap brands but otherwise any brand should work just fine.
Hi there Cristian! Yes, as long as you get them fired correctly, they are safe for the microwave and dishwasher. I have slightly under fired mine by accident before and they partially rubbed off. But in that case you just leave them alone and re-fire to a bit higher temperature. Hope this helps!!
Yes! As long as you use one of the printers listed in the description, you can use the toner that comes with the printer and it will work just fine! Thanks for watching!
Hello Jennifer! Yes! You've got it exactly right. You apply the decal to a completed glaze fired piece and then give it an extra firing to set the decal, typically to a bisque fire temperature. Hope this helps!
Hi Tara! I am actually not 100 percent sure about the answer to this question but I think the image quality is more reliant on the digital file itself more than the printer. As long as the image is clear and detailed in the file, it should print that way. I have never had an issue with the image looking good on the screen and then coming out of the printer with lower resolution. But eek, I'm a bit of a tech neophyte so take that with a grain of salt. I don't know what printer Stephanie uses but she is a very kind person and would probably share that with you if you reach out to her! Thanks for watching! Hope this helps a little!
Hi Lawrence! This product actually can not be fired black because this style of decal is created by iron which only fires to one color, kind of a rusty brown hue. For black decals you can either buy commercial decals, meaning they are pre-printed, or you can look into some image transfer techniques using things like slips and underglazes. The style of decal I've shown here is the only style I have worked with, but I've always thought it would be interesting to learn more about the others! Thanks for watching!
@@SetGozo hello! I apologize for my delayed response, I just saw this question. You can order the decal paper from lots of outlets online, you would just search for "waterslide decal paper" and then make sure you have the right printer. The printers that work for this process are listed in the notes from the video. I have found that there is a difference in quality and final outcome with different decal papers. I like a brand that I believe is called "Fired on decal paper". It is a bit more pricey than other options but is very reliable! And yes, you feed the paper into the printer like normal paper, you would just put it in the printer tray one sheet at a time. Most papers will come with directions as well. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
Hi there! The short answer is yes, there are printers that can print color decals but they are expensive and complicated to use. They are super cool though so if you have the time and resources you should check them out! Enduring Images is one of the brands. An easier route to get color decals is to purchase them pre-printed from any of the ceramic supply websites. It limits your choices a little more but if you're just starting out it's a smaller investment to make. I think some folks are even doing custom decals as well. As in, you send them an image and they make it into a decal! I'm pretty sure I've seen that on Etsy. Hope this helps!
Awesome video and so easy to follow. TYSM!
Hi BB! I'm so glad you found it helpful! Thanks for watching!

What stage is the pottery when this is applied. Is it after the glaze firing and then fire it again?
Hello Jennifer! Yes! You've got it exactly right. You apply the decal to a completed glaze fired piece and then give it an extra firing to set the decal, typically to a bisque fire temperature. Hope this helps!
Hello, I' wondering what kind of printer resolution you need to get the level of detail shown in Stephanie's decal? Do you know what printer she uses?
