New OC has opened things up and is creative. RBs out of the backfield have been very effective, TE may be the best in the conference and it has opened up things for the WRs. No one WR seems to be a go-to yet (maybe Wallace) but spreading it around puts defenses in tough situations. Ill will be a better test of course, but have to like PSU in a night game at Beaver Stadium and the upset of Ill's last visit helps Franklin get player's attn. They will take Illinois seriously.
I think Illinois oline will face a tough test but if they keep Luke clean pocket he will make all the right reads he has 10-0 td to int ratio and a two headed monster in Bryant and Franklin, so i will go with Illni 24-17
Bowling green had the most success on our defense because they got it out quick. If you don’t get it out quick and have good play calling like bowling green did, that pocket will not be clean.
People don't realize that Kansas outgained Illinois. Pretty good. If they don't turn the ball over 3 times they win handily. Gave up 186 rush yards. Nebraska should of beat Illinois. They missed wide open pass and a FG. Dylan had all day to throw most of the time. I think Aller is more than good enough to torch them. Defense imo is gonna get a massive environmental/crowd buff but I think we haven't seen the defense best performance. Regardless how good or bad you think WVU is psu shut them down and wvu has put up points on everyone else. So this defense is still really good near peak or playing well. I think it's a statement game for penn state Psu 45 Illinois 17
There are three themes I notice from each of Penn State's games that most aren't realizing. 1. They treated WV as a get in and out game, that's why they just plastered them. 2. They slept walked the first half against BG, whereas in the second half they did a WV job on defense in the second half and didn't really change anything on defense against BG than what the did against WV. The other thing about the BG game is that BG is a older Veteran team with an up-tempo offense, which is rare in college football because they have the vets to do so. 3. The KSU game was basically a glorified scrimmage, where they used to build depth and try out somethings you might not see the rest of the year. So, this is be the game where PSU will show you more of who they are and what they are capable. This is probably the game you can take the most from, depending on how they play and view the Illini. WE ARE!
As a die hard Nittany Lions 🦁 fan, Illinois is good, it just reminds me of Iowa last year in Happy Valley night 🌙 game, and we dominated them, a night game on a Friday at Nebraska is a whole different thing than 110 thousand in Happy Valley night 🌙 game in the loudest stadium 🏟 in the western hemisphere!!!! Does Illinois have much of a chance here? They do avoid Ohio State and get Michigan at home, so outside of a road trip to Oregon the Illini do have a workable schedule. As for Penn State, I still expect 11-1/12-0.
What are you talking about? Do you really think Illinois is gonna go one loss or 2 losses? You must be nuts. They're not beating Penn state. And they're not beating Oregon. And you're probably gonna lose another game. Your schedule is weak.
You teams like indiana and illinois or something? Else you guys have a little bit of success. Can you think you're gonna win the championship or something? Do you realize? Every time your teams get halfway decent, your coach either gets fired for being no good or a better program takes your coach. You really think coach signetti is gonna stick around at indiana, if they're good, he's gonna leave to go to a lot better program.
So, with all due respect 🙏 to Illinois!!! Kansas was overrated and lost the best OC in the nation to us, the man is in Happy Valley with much more talent and depth!!! He put up over 500 yards on Illinois last year with less talent, and he evolved obviously with more play calling and talent in his arsenal!!!!
