@@GBall_Vision I've recently started collecting again, really diggin CIVIVI, especially their Damascus. Sencut seems to be budget friendly also. I do have a few upper end also such as Artiean, Hogue, Viper, also a few Kubey and Honey badger.

I carry a 110 or 112 occasionally. I have a G10 110 with Torx construction,pocket clip in the BOS S30V. Still valid. Today I'm rocking a Case Sodbuster Jr. Day off carry
For the day, the Buck 110 was great. Nowadays, I'm not sure there are too many awesome EDC knives. Either way, it's still a good knife.🤜💥🤛

I forgot I am also carrying a Kizer Carniferous V in my cargo pocket too, which I believe is an incredible knife, and I couldn't believe I got it last week for 47$ bucks. It is Titanium/micarta scales, 154 CM steel, with an inset liner lock, and I am super impressed with it. I think if someone had 47$ dollars and likes knives, you should grab one, it's now my fav beater knife ever.

i owned a Buck and packed one my whole childhood ( pre 81 ) all had 440c . they switched to 420HC in 81 the next 110 I bought was complete garbage spent more time sharpening than using it and I swore off 420HC at that point the next one was a 110 in s30v ( edge geometry lacking , thick behind the edge ) and I still own it.
I love the design and look of a 110 and will always.
I enjoy my s45 burlap micarta 110, carries great in a slip, performs well.

My girlfriend (at the time) went to our local knife store to buy me a birthday present. She described me to the guys the best she could and that is what they sold her. The original Buck 110. 😂 That’s fine. I needed a new one anyway and it is definitely an icon of my youth. All the adult men carried a slip joint but all the cool kids carried a Buck. I might even start carrying mine again. 😃👍🏼
That's awesome 😎 I carry mine on special occasions but mainly is a safe queen. As it was the first knife I bought that started my collection and it's laser engraved on the blade. I'll pass it down to one of my kids probably my son

Just a slight correction Greg. The blades are typically 420HC (Bucks own version of 420 stainless). They’ve never used 440C. The only higher end steels are the CPM flavors. Thanks again!

BUCK SWITCHED TO 420HC in 81 and it is now there "basic" blade steel.

Ahhhh did the 110 now after we been talking about it eh? I love the 110, got the Orange G10 TRX model in s30v in my pocket rt now. I honestly believe Buck makes the best s30v I've ever used. I own 2 of the new slim s30v models and I bought the new Orange one specifically to carry. I honestly love using my 110, the handle is comfy, and its blade just works. That hollow grind is great too, plus, it's just an icon, when you carry a 110, everyone knows what it is instantly.

Custom 110 was what I got my son for his first knife. It's still iconic.
Edit: if people don't think of them it's because the market is flooded with EDC knives and the trend is tacti-cool innovation over tried & true. They still sell them in a case at the small town Ace Hardware.

The Buck 110 is a real classic. It's still around mostly because it's a classic.
Buck also makes many, many knives of more modern design in some of the newest super steels and the bonus is that if they are made in the USA you know you're getting what you pay for. When Buck says their made in the USA knife is S90V or S35VN steel you can be POSITIVE it is that steel and is properly heat treated. The same goes for any major knife maker in the USA as ISO Quality processes are used in manufacturing and if they are not followed the license is pulled.
You can't guaranty this with Chinese knives. None of us can prove the type of steel they use (regardless of what's stamped on the blade) and most of us can't test the hardness so we really don't know if the heat treatment is correct. I have no problem buying a Chinese knife, but I'll never pay more than $50.00 for 1 because there's no way of knowing if you're getting what you pay for.
I wanted to ask you this, I bought the Buck 110 Slim Select Micarta when I was on vacation this summer, and I was surprised to see it for sale for 97.99$ bc it was discontinued on every knife seller's page and they dropped the TRX models which are better bc of the ability to disassemble them. Since that happened I decided to keep my Micarta slim select unused in the box bc I think it may gain value in the future bc they probably didn't produce too many of them, they were discontinued so fast. I decided to use my TRX model and keep the Slim Select put up in my boxed collection, bc I believe it may be more valuable and rarer than the other 110 models down the road, what do you think?
It's definitely possible, in 10-20 years it could definitely be a collector item. I have kept mine in Prestine condition too. I will probably pass it down to my son. Mine has laser engraving done in the blade
@@GBall_Vision that's cool. I specifically ordered the TRX this month bc I bought the Micarta one to carry, but since I seen it had been discontinued, I sat it aside in my collection. I also picked up a Kizer Carniferous V for only 47$ bucks on Amazon and have been super impressed so far with it, it may have won me over for best knife under 50$ you can buy hands down. It's 154cm steel. Titanium and micarta scales, with a deep carry clip, that's great meterials for 47$! Have you tried that knife yet?
