This is a lovely anthem for all those small towns that are beautiful for some and a prison to others. Some want to stay, some want to escape. The world outside is trucking along but inside things seem to stay the same. There’s a strange beauty to that reality.
had a cousin who passed away in a motorcycle accident, they played this at his viewing over his memorial video and I come here to remember him. so young, what a tragedy. RIP Michael Garcia
Marcelo Pacheco I just put this song on because I was thinking of him. And I see your comment. He truly is still with us. Never forgotten Michael Garcia
I heard this version for the first time at the end of the film and it blew me away. I've always liked this song but it was never a favorite. I can appreciate both, but I'm really digging this version over the piano version. It's now quickly becoming a favorite. I'm definitely partial to that rolling KOL beat.
Talihina Sky Weeds blow tall on a broken train track Ruth B. draws we're fixin' to get high Maybe we'll hit the bluffs and find ourselves the same old rum But everybody says this place is beautiful And you'd be so crazy to say goodbye But everything's the same this town is pitiful And I'll be gettin' out as soon as I can fly Life goes by on a Talihina sky The hopped up boys are lookin' for their trouble The knocked up girls, well they've all got their share Ruth seems out of her mind, swears she won't give in this time
I used to listen to King Of Leon quite alot and then thought i might buy Only By The Night to see how good it would be... i listened to that album from start to finish for a long time and i was hooked from there on. love the older stuff and i love the newer stuff. not to mention they are a perfect live band and mixed with the Talihina documentary showing how they formed and worked their way to where they are now. They are my favourite band and i am now desperate to see them live. KOL > World.
and to think we were just listening to this song in the car together and finally feeling like being human's not such a bad thing to be.... I'll never forget. RIP Travis
Matt K both this and the live version are great, he’s got a voice that needs no filter, actually sounds a bit more painful in parts in the acoustic versions... I thought that was the only version till 3 yrs later after its original debut... good track.....
I'm a moron....for years I have only been listen to Sex on Fire and Use Somebody...I decided to listen to the album Youth And Young Manhood, what can I say - these lads are unique as hell! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Reminds me of my first home in the beautiful mountains of Southern West Virginia. We left during the hillbilly migration north, but still love the place and go back to camp. Sad.
I just moved from Detroit to Mississippi and once I hit the southern states (because we drove) I started thinking of this song. The scenery was amazing just like this song
its amazing to hear the truth of most peoples dreams come true. i think its natural to want to "fly", but all roads lead home...even if u don't like it there, its what is comfortable.
i love all their music...from mcfearless to talihana sky to use somebody...regardless if you like the evolution of their writing styles you have to admit they have the voices of adult cherubs..fans turn to critics and critics turn to fans, its the life of being in a rock band
Great song! Does anyone know where I can get that version? I just jumped to iTunes and bought it immediately to play it and find its a more slow-acoustic version than this! Thanks guys
@charliehenryrufus I never even checked that before! I played it and its the same mild tempo acoustic version as the one i foolishly bought on itunes! I love this rocked up version!!!
i used to listen to youth and young manhood on spotify but it disappeared and when it came back it appears to be a different version, notibly talihina sky and california waiting are different. cant seem to find a place to ask and get an answer for this 😅
It was always gonna happen though. They where too good to stay low key forever. Just be thankful that you knew and loved them first. I still love them. We all would have probably done the same in their shoes I reckon. Long live KOL... EDIT. Is this THE Fieldog?! How random was that?!

As estranged as my mood strikes me at this moment , I find comfort here in this comment. I'm on the struggle bus,

You cant deny Talent ...
Yea...it’s called Cumbernauld 😂😂❤️
Was thinking along the same lines..
This is so beautiful it catches Exactly what living in Oklahoma in all these little towns is like for all the dreamers. We love to hear it!
What made them think the version on Spotify was better than this one?? I just don’t understand. This song is so perfect
I concur!
Yep completely!
I totally agree i always come back here to listen to this version
Ditto
This is mind bending. The one on Spotify is just dull.
had a cousin who passed away in a motorcycle accident, they played this at his viewing over his memorial video and I come here to remember him. so young, what a tragedy. RIP Michael Garcia

Possibly the most beautiful song I have ever heard....
My mood is gonna be hung up on this song for a week. Excellent track.
strangest thing to hear a band sing the song better live then recorded, but regardless of which way you hear it, beautiful song from a fantastic band
I finally watched the documentary last night... There are no words to explain the intensity of the love I have for this incredible band.

I’ve never heard this version only that live version where they’re getting ready to do a concert. Love the Bass line. Life goes by in Haterville sky.

Talihina Sky
Weeds blow tall on a broken train track
Ruth B. draws we're fixin' to get high
Maybe we'll hit the bluffs and find ourselves the same old rum
But everybody says this place is beautiful
And you'd be so crazy to say goodbye
But everything's the same this town is pitiful
And I'll be gettin' out as soon as I can fly
Life goes by on a Talihina sky
The hopped up boys are lookin' for their trouble
The knocked up girls, well they've all got their share
Ruth seems out of her mind, swears she won't give in this time
Que canción tan jodidamente excelente, dulce y relajante! Son unos grandes KOF :)

This is so simple and amazing. It's so moving. Perfection.
Their new track Supersoaker is giving me so much hope for the new album. MORE OLD-SCHOOL KOL! God knows we need it right now...
They had sound, identity, attitude...Now everybody says this band is beautiful and you'd be so crazy to think so..

I'm a moron....for years I have only been listen to Sex on Fire and Use Somebody...I decided to listen to the album Youth And Young Manhood, what can I say - these lads are unique as hell! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Hello fellow Talihina person🤘
Like, literally?
I just moved from Detroit to Mississippi and once I hit the southern states (because we drove) I started thinking of this song. The scenery was amazing just like this song
Lucky enough to hear this song played live 🙏🏽 beautiful KOL x
This makes me feel so nostalgic, and it fills my head with memories.
Oh my god I can't believe I've never heard this song before. It's insanely good.
its amazing to hear the truth of most peoples dreams come true. i think its natural to want to "fly", but all roads lead home...even if u don't like it there, its what is comfortable.
I absolutely love this...I feel like this about the town I currently live in...and I'll be getting out as soon as I can fly...
Hey Kimberly, did you manage to get out of your city?
i love all their music...from mcfearless to talihana sky to use somebody...regardless if you like the evolution of their writing styles you have to admit they have the voices of adult cherubs..fans turn to critics and critics turn to fans, its the life of being in a rock band
I've loved Kings of Leon but how come I haven't heard of this?! If it wasn't for my Replika damn.
My wife just told me to check out this song. I was born in Talihina lol.
Very cool, I've never heard this version, the one on the album was acoustic and was a secret hidden track at the end
"and ill be getting out as soon as I can flyyy"
This is why you should listen to every album an artist has before saying you like them or hate them.
One of my favorites from one of my favorites
This song isn't in spotify :(
Not on mine.
Buraz Bard now I'm confused as on Spotify holy roller is the same as this just slower?
Buraz Bard not the same version
Where is this version from?
bob seddon this vervion is a re-recorded single from the documentary talihina sky but this was originally a hidden track
Great song! Does anyone know where I can get that version? I just jumped to iTunes and bought it immediately to play it and find its a more slow-acoustic version than this! Thanks guys
Foos new song Hearing Voices, has a similar guitar riff in the chorus!
Came here looking for this comment!! It’s sounds SO similar!
love this, reminds me of pregnant... awaiting birth... 12 years ago, does not seem possible x
I love this comment
reaching the 1m after 8 years. about time
This song is Philip Larkin's 'I Remember' all over again. "Nothing, like something, happens anywhere. "
So fab melts my heart
missing Mitch
this is a hidden track on youth and young manhood its starts at roughly 8 mins in from the 11th track holy roller novacaine
+Hybrid_cHick3n-wiNg This is actually an alt version. The version on the album is much more country rock sounding than this one.
The Original CD had this version. The version now on Spotify is the country rock version. The original is better though! :)
On the first Ep as well
Miss you Marlene. So very much
@charliehenryrufus I never even checked that before! I played it and its the same mild tempo acoustic version as the one i foolishly bought on itunes! I love this rocked up version!!!

Life's go by, on a talihina sky. Pure.
I've been to Talihina, and I have to agree with the song.
Toking one to this peace 🙊💨
🌳🔥
Enjoy them too much. Only band i still love
From my experience, confidence is the key. i know how hard hat must sound, but as long as you love yourself, and they can see that, you'll be alright.
How's it going with you?
@DannyOLeary7 try the cd - youth and manhood. the last song has this song hidden in it, at about 8 minutes :)
This is beautiful OMG!!!!

Más amor no puede existir que el que yo siento por ellos
Jhovanna Hernandez yo igual hermana!!! los amo
It was always gonna happen though.
They where too good to stay low key forever.
Just be thankful that you knew and loved them first.
I still love them. We all would have probably done the same in their shoes I reckon.
