Big Hugs 🤗 Gary. Your intro vid made me hungry 😅. You look great in the hat sweet Erin sent you. Your shawl/scarf on Hank is incredible. Looking forward to what you'll make with all that yarnolicousness 😊
Hi Gary, I have noticed that Canadian customs stop orders over 100$ in Canadian currency. I bought a $75 order from OpheliaTalks in the Uk without a hitch but when I get Hobbii yarn at over $100 I get the whole treatment of taxes AND customs. Nice haul, I like Big Twist, it’s a good acrylic. I can’t even touch the Red Heart it gives me the heebie-jeebies…
I like the shawl on Hank and your hat looks good too. You chose some beautiful yarns from Joanns. I like the Red Heart Ombré too. I made an afghan with the violet. It works up so pretty. 🧶💜🙏🏻
My last Joann yarn haul was 2 balls of every shade and hue of blue Stitch Please wool they had. Up to that point I rarely bought blue yarn, so now I’m preparing to crochet a Big a Blue Blanket! Enjoy your yarn Gary! Love the neutrals!
Hi Gary. Nice scarf Hank is wearing. I love red heart ombre as well. A few colors they no longer carry from years ago.Big Twist Value I crochet any and everything with. Many colors. I use several brands in Big Twist.
Oh Gary! 🥰 Felt like you opened a box of chocolates when you showcased all those big twist colours. I do think the cream n grey would be an amazing background for a colourful Afghan. Everyone talks about how nice this yarn is…. Just be careful with the dryer setting. 😅
Hi Gary, your hat from Erin is really pretty. I like the scarf you made for Hank. I like Big Twist and Red Heart. The Red Heart will soften upon washing. Use fabric softener in washer or a softener sheet in the dryer. I’ve used several of the colors you got of the Big Twist.
Hi Gary, love what you and Hank are wearing. The scarf looks very unique. I love using Red Heart super saver and the Big Twist value, they make nice amigurumi. Can't wait to see what you come up with using these yarns.
Seeing your intro, reminded me of a past episode where you shared some of your favorite childhood chocolate treats . I purchased a couple too.. LOVE the Violet Crumble honeycomb candy ! ❤😅 I’ve eaten 2 bags on my own .. snort 🐽 snort ! hahaha I do not need them, but oh so good !! Hank looks like he’s wearing a crocheted ascot .. looks really fun , loving the colors and design ! 🧶💫
When I saw the opening video I said, "Wow, that looks like the entry to one of those 24-hour diners with the pie case out front." 😉Eataly opened after I moved from Chicago. This was nice yarn haul and I am looking forward to seeing your projects. That red almost scorched my eyes. I wasn't ready. lol 😆TFS! ❤
Way to draw me in with all those yummy pastries! I love the Easter egg strung together, the are lovely. I saw you open them in your last post. The Red Heart Ombré is beautiful.
Hi, Gary. I heard about your channel via Crystal. I am a value yarn person and have used Red Heart yarn for many years. I actually have in my yarn those same four colors you chose. You'll find that the Super Saver line's softness varies, depending on the color. I usually go back to it because of their wide range of colors and yarn durability. I do love the feel of Joann's Big Twist yarn, but I don't use it for large projects because you can't put it in the dryer and have to lay it flat to dry. Also, I love Michael's Loops and Threads (Craftsmart) as it's softer, has a wide range of colors and is washable and dryable, but it's popular, and the colors sale out quickly. Enjoy your project with the Red Heart Ombres.
Thank you for all your wisdom on the different yarns and tips on the washing instructions. I will remember that Big Twist needs to lay flat to dry. One of the commenters in there also said they dry it in the drier - but on a delicate setting.
Hello Friend! You are amazing that you knew it was Noro! I went back to Erin's videos to find where she spoke about the hat and to link it in the description box - you are completely correct!
Hi Gary, love the colors of the yarn. I knew I would. Great minds think alike, lol. Sending hugs for you, Chad and Pixel. Yesterday I got a year older, lol. It was an awesome day full of alot of love and good wishes.
On the Red Heart yorn, they use a heavy sizing it makes it stiff, it soften up alot after washing. I love Big Twist yarn. There is a trick to doing orders with JoAnns, be sure you are a member then fill in your order with everything you want, save it, open it the next day or day after and the will have a 25% coupon for your order. This works every time I order from them, also sign up to get their Emails, always have great sales and coupons in their Emails. I have an order to go out Sunday and the Big Twist with the coupons are $1.89 each and a coupon for $1.99 shipping. My order is large enough for free shipping. Love JoAnns. We do have to pay sales tax. Love your hat.
I'm glad you liked the content Aida. I've been looking at the Ombre and the type of squares I want to make. The patterns are getting narrowed down and I've fished out some variegated yarn to include with the Ombre and Big Twist solids. I'm all over the place... LOL!
Yum! Love the opening of your video…I have a sweet tooth/teeth. I like scarf on your man form. The pattern was interesting and may be something to look into…short rows 🤔 I love the colorway of your gifted beanie. It looks good on you. Looking forward to seeing the blanket you’re planning to make with your JoAnn yarn haul.🥰
Thanks Joyce - I've almost narrowed down my crochet square patterns. Now, must finish the Natures Walk before I start (I'm thinking that's not going to happen any time soon, so I may be doing two blankets at the same time).
hiya gary! Hank's scarf is fab! edith's eggs are terrific up for decor. holy cannoli, you told me so....the sweets are like what i had as a kid in new york. went right to eataly's site.....😁😁

Very nice yarns, and the Red heart super saver ombre once it is washed in the washing machine and I've used fabric softener it softens up very nicely. I also put it for a small time in the dryer on medium/low heat. I have heard that both of those things help. The cheeses and the intro of those wonderful pastries was delicious. Very lovely makes as well with those short rows.
Hi Gary, nice yarn purchase. I crocheted one of Crystal’s ponchos using the anthracite colour for a gift a couple of years ago.Anxiously waiting to see your makes with this yarn.Enjoy the rest of your day!😊🧶❤️
I'm super excited about the new Lion Brand Mandala cake colours that Crystal over at BOD filmed on the weekend. I'll be looking for those on the Joann website.
It's one of my most fun processes to put all the yarns together and I may be throwing into the mix an unlikely variegated with the Ombre and Bright Solids.
Hi Beverly - I think I've found two square motives to choose from for those Red Heart Ombre yarns and for some reason I'm eye-balling some of the Hobby Lobby Prints to throw in with the other BIG Twist brights. I know, I'm all over the place...
Yummy looking Italian food! Made my morning. Good to see you with some yarnie goodness, Gary. I just watched a video about The Wooly Thistle. They have multiple shipping options, including USPS, which transfers over to Canada Post. Have yet to make a purchase with them as I'm still stash busting. Take care!
Hi Stacy - I'm glad to read you were really happy with the drape on the Vista (Big Twist Yarn). I was hoping it would be a good yarn to work on a shawl.
Did you wash it yet? I'm curious to if it bleeds because I'm making a blanket using 4 colors .I've never used big twist before. But I think I like Premier basic better .
Awe you are so sweet Suzanne. Maybe one of these days I'll get around to writing up patterns. I've done a few in the time I've been crafting with yarn, but it's time that I don't have much of right now.
Yes, I loved the food! My favorite thing after yarn. Lol! Are you saying “ atelier”? It’s a French word for Studio or workshop. Basically a place to create. Sounds right for the food place you visited. Yum!
Oh - the place I was mentioning in the video is Eataly (a play on Italy). I've left the link to the store in the description box of this video. You'll get so swallowed up by all the amazing treats and foods...
Hi Penny - I hope you are enjoying your staycation (or perhaps you have already returned to work, in which case, I hope you had a great relaxation with plenty of time with Gwinn and Missy!).
Love the Chevron scarf you made!!! I've never seen anything like that before!!! Loved to see all the yarns you got. And your thoughts on them. I just fin8shed 2 blankets from Big Twist Value variegated yarns. They are so soft and turned out lovely. The yarn tends to split. So I wouldn't suggest it for a beginner. But I had no trouble with it myself. I've never seen the VISTA. But I'd love to try it eventually. Would be great for baby blanket or shawl. TFS!! Austin TX USA
Yummy! What a tease Gary.😉 Thank you for sharing the yarn info. Over your left shoulder, the 2nd cubby down & over on top of the purple cake is a beautiful hank of mixed green. What brand is it! 😃💜🧶
Hello there - wonderful to read your comment. I'm not exactly sure which one you're mentioning, but if it's in the cubby that I'm seeing, those area all my favourite Knit Pick Hawthorne yarns. It's most likely one of the mix green multi or tonal ones you're drawn to.
Have you looked at the Persian Tiles Throw by Jane Crow? I've made this and it's simply beautiful. Pattern is really well written and very easy to understand and she's recently released tutorials on the tiles
Whenever I've bought from Joann's, it's always come via Canada post. Joann and Lion Brand both ship via the post and that's the best because when it comes via courier's they charge the brokerage fee.
I'm so sorry Bluerosecrystalsoul, I don't have a tutorial. Actually I've only ever done one tutorial and it was awkward for me to film and cover all the instructions. I'm just not a natural at it.
The Easter eggs look awesome!! I get donations of Red Heart for my charity work and Im not too thrilled with the yarn. Too rough. I like Big Twist better. There is an Eataly in Manhattan but ive never been. The city is a big mess right now and i dont feel safe going there. Have a great weekend!
Hello Linda - I like Big Twist too. You're so lucky to have an Eataly near to you. I'm sorry to read that NYC is a mess and you feel unsafe. I was in the Big Apple in 1996 and I had a fantastic time.
I'm not sure? I found the video where Erin speaks about the make and have included it in the description box of this video. If you like to go over to visit her channel by clicking that link - I'm sure you could ask her if there's a tutorial.
Hello there Louise. Sorry to write that there isn't any pattern to the chevron scarf on Hank in this video. I was playing around with making strips on the bias and then turning the work to go back the other way. I do remember the yarn was Lion Brands Ferris Wheel and Premier Spun Colors - hook size was a 5mm.
Oh it is - but it shouldn't be. It was benefit the vender and the customer if there was always the option to use the public postal services for deliveries.
I worry about using Big Twist on big projects, like blankets, as it is "dry flat" where red heart acrylic is machine dry? Let us know how it drys for you please.
It's so sweet of you to show us all of your makes and the yarns for your future projects. Crystal is such a beautiful soul. You both are very inspirational to so many of us. 🙏🏻❣️🙏🏻

Hello Star! I am so happy that I was the one to have mentioned Crystal to you. She's an amazing person.

Hi Gary! Love the yarn & the scarf & hat..love them!☺️
Hiya Gary, I love Italian cakes & pastries. Good to see you❣️

Hello Mistyblue - thank you for your tip on the drier instructions on the Big Twist and RH Ombre!

Love the Green Apple ombré!

Hi Gary, love what you and Hank are wearing. The scarf looks very unique. I love using Red Heart super saver and the Big Twist value, they make nice amigurumi. Can't wait to see what you come up with using these yarns.

Hello Linda - I like Big Twist too. You're so lucky to have an Eataly near to you. I'm sorry to read that NYC is a mess and you feel unsafe. I was in the Big Apple in 1996 and I had a fantastic time.
Omg I would love that scarf pattern for my tangled poets pickle jar. lol I don’t knit!!
Oh - I'm so sorry lee I didn't make a tutorial or pattern with the scarf.
@@urbanyarn it means a lot to me that you replied thank you. I’ll keep watching for something I can crochet.
How many times did I hear your "Hello there young (yarn!) lovers" before hearing it right? lol
S'always great to find another episode.
LOL - you are not alone!
Yessss that entro was delicious to see...🍰 ♥️ 🧁 ♥️ 🍩 ♥️ 🍪 ♥️ 🍮
So mouth-watering and a lovely place to shop if you like anything Italian.
The very things I miss so much in Canada and that was in the USA???
Is that an egg garland? So cute!!
Hi Oldmomma56 - yes indeed. The eggs were crocheted by Edith in Europe and she sent them to me. They are so wonderful - I'm crazy for them!
Does Erin have a tutorial in the hat?? It’s so cute.
I'm not sure? I found the video where Erin speaks about the make and have included it in the description box of this video. If you like to go over to visit her channel by clicking that link - I'm sure you could ask her if there's a tutorial.
@@urbanyarn thank you. I’ll do that!! 🥰
Do you happen to know what yarn Erin used on your hat? I love the color. Thanks!
Hi Dawn - the yarn was Noro. I included a link to her video where she shows and talks about the hat - it's in the description box of this video.
Love the scarf! What yarn and hook did you use? Is there a pattern available?
Hello there Louise. Sorry to write that there isn't any pattern to the chevron scarf on Hank in this video. I was playing around with making strips on the bias and then turning the work to go back the other way. I do remember the yarn was Lion Brands Ferris Wheel and Premier Spun Colors - hook size was a 5mm.
Shipping in Canada seems tricky to me!
Oh it is - but it shouldn't be. It was benefit the vender and the customer if there was always the option to use the public postal services for deliveries.
It will get softer after you wash it.
I worry about using Big Twist on big projects, like blankets, as it is "dry flat" where red heart acrylic is machine dry? Let us know how it drys for you please.
I will most certainly. There were some messages in here that tested out the delicate (non-heat tumble) was one that worked.
Hugz Gary
Hugs right back at ya!
😊
If you weren’t so great to watch, it would not be so easy to shout out!
I didn’t get a notification, umm
