  • Jon recites Psalm 25 and explains it’s significance to him.
    1To You, O LORD, I lift up my soul.
    2O my God, in You I trust,
    Do not let me be ashamed;
    Do not let my enemies exult over me.
    3Indeed, none of those who wait for You will be ashamed;
    Those who deal treacherously without cause will be ashamed.
    4Make me know Your ways, O LORD;
    Teach me Your paths.
    5Lead me in Your truth and teach me,
    For You are the God of my salvation;
    For You I wait all the day.
    6Remember, O LORD, Your compassion and Your lovingkindnesses,
    For they have been from of old.
    7Do not remember the sins of my youth or my transgressions;
    According to Your lovingkindness remember me,
    For Your goodness’ sake, O LORD.
    8Good and upright is the LORD;
    Therefore He instructs sinners in the way.
    9He leads the humble in justice,
    And He teaches the humble His way.
    10All the paths of the LORD are lovingkindness and truth
    To those who keep His covenant and His testimonies.
    11For Your name’s sake, O LORD,
    Pardon my iniquity, for it is great.
    12Who is the man who fears the LORD?
    He will instruct him in the way he should choose.
    13His soul will abide in prosperity,
    And his descendants will inherit the land.
    14The secret of the LORD is for those who fear Him,
    And He will make them know His covenant.
    15My eyes are continually toward the LORD,
    For He will pluck my feet out of the net.
    16Turn to me and be gracious to me,
    For I am lonely and afflicted.
    17The troubles of my heart are enlarged;
    Bring me out of my distresses.
    18Look upon my affliction and my trouble,
    And forgive all my sins.
    19Look upon my enemies, for they are many,
    And they hate me with violent hatred.
    20Guard my soul and deliver me;
    Do not let me be ashamed, for I take refuge in You.
    21Let integrity and uprightness preserve me,
    For I wait for You.
    22Redeem Israel, O God,
    Out of all his troubles.

    This is the psalm I have prayed for my son for 10 years. GOD has been so gracious, faithful, amazingly kind.

    What many people never remember is "The Just Shall Live By Faith.' They are too busy 'working' to fill the gap in their lives because they do not understand the gospel. And they do this at their peril. Our only job is to believe. God will work His works through us.

    Thank you brother. That meant a lot. Like a cool glass of water or a ray of hope for a troubled soul. I am a man only too aware of his own sins yet longing for the Lord who alone seems to carry me when I can no longer walk the path myself. May Christ bless you today.

    Psalm 25 has been my go-to prayer since I came across it last August. And you hit on the main reasons why. It’s really helped to guide me as I continue on my walk with the Lord.

    Thank you for reading this Psalm and your words. It is so true when we know our hearts yet we have the longing for Him as a born again child of God. Just what I needed to hear today.

    If you read God's word daily over a long time, passages like this one come into clearer and clearer focus. And, if you stop reading, I have found you'll miss it. Especially when this crummy fallen world starts to take it's toll. Psalm 25 can taste like a cool cup of water in this wasteland.

    God's word is the ultimate healing balm! Thank you for sharing it with us! I liked the reminder that it's direction NOT perfection that we need to lean into. My type A personality needs to be reminded of this often. Blessings to you!
