  • @litigatorcoachd9333
    @litigatorcoachd9333 3 місяці тому +5

    Don't mean to rain on anyone's parade, but as a lifelong herpetologist, I'm VERY sceptical of the claim that this specimen is 120 years old. Crocodilians can certainly live more than 50 years, and probably to about 80 or a bit more, but no scholarly source or reputable scientifc institution says they go to 100, much less 120. The inference from the word "estimated" in the caption is that Croc World has no written record proving him to be 120 years old, and clearly there is no human witness who can attest to that based on personal knowledge, because humans don't live that long. Second, this specimen appears to have all his teeth, and while crocodilians do continually replace their teeth, the replacement ceases when they get very old, so that a very aged one - - unlike this specimen - - would have very few teeth left. Adding to my scepticism is the fact that tourist attractions frequently exaggerate and/or sensationalize things about their animals for entertainment/publicity purposes. I strongly suspect that we have another case of that here.
