Thank you Sandi, you're unlikely to read this, but on the off chance that you do I'd like you to know that you're my hero. I'm in my 20s and when I was a kid my family thought I was odd and even thought there might be something wrong with me because I would spend hours reading without really talking to anyone. I was "boyish" and hated wearing dresses, I didn't walk "like a girl", my sister tried to teach me how to stop walking like a boy so the boys in my school would fancy me. I laughed too loudly. I thought for a long time that I was broken and I learned to apologise for being too loud, too quiet, reading too much, not sitting or walking or talking like a girl should, not being "ladylike" ... You are unapologetically yourself, you advocate for women in every form, you have a collection of books that make me so jealous and I want to thank you.... because without even knowing it, you've shown me that being Me is just fine.
I only discovered these little gems from Sandi last week. I am now torn between binge-watching to catch up to the current date, or rationing them so I still have 'new' videos to watch once I'm back at work and in need of respite from the madness.
I found your channel among the multitude of recommended face mask tutorials, COVID19 updates, and homebound celebrity chat shows. Your quiet single voice is a calming welcome breath of fresh air. I thank you.
Thank you to Sandy and all your helpers. I started watching these back in March at the start of the lockdown and your calm and kind delivery of inspirational stories provided a lovely peaceful break to everything going on. You have shown that wonderful things can come out of this.
I’d like to take a moment to thank whatever UA-cam does to decide what to recommend on my account. So happy to have found the Vox Tox channel. A relaxing, peaceful moment in an otherwise mad world... Obviously, I subscribed.
I have just stumbled, fell, dropped into these delightful snippets of humour and wisdom. From you,one of my favourite people of all time in the media. Thank you Sandi. Now I have something to look forward to every day. Please, please, keep making them. Even when,or if, life resumes as “normal”. Will we ever see you front QI again? Oh well. Who knows. You are my glimpse of sanity in what has become an insane world. Stay well and safe.
I have just found you this morning. Yay! You are such a tonic Sandy, and a very clever and inspiring woman. I will watch you every day now and enjoy. Thank you from a fan in South Africa in self isolation 🇿🇦 ⭐️
I adore this lady, have done since her ‘Ethel’ days. There are some people who radiate warmth, kindness and intelligence whatever they do. The only other person (apart from Stephen Fry perhaps) who had the same effect on me was, perhaps strangely, Hattie Jacques.
Homeschooling may be technically over for summer but learning never stops! I'm constantly looking for good role models for my girls so these videos have made in onto my summer syllabus! Thanks so much!
Carl Friedrich Gauss after it was revealed to him that M. Le Blanc with whom he had had lengthy correspondence was actually Sophie Germain: How can I describe my astonishment and admiration on seeing my esteemed correspondent M. Le Blanc metamorphosed into this celebrated person ... when a woman, because of her sex, our customs and prejudices, encounters infinitely more obstacles than men in familiarising herself with [number theory's] knotty problems, yet overcomes these fetters and penetrates that which is most hidden, she doubtless has the *most noble courage, extraordinary talent, and superior genius.*
Wait..what? I just found these. Is April 1 the first one? I don’t know why UA-cam didn’t notify me. I watch anything that Sandi is in. Thank you for giving me a dose of smart and funny. Waiting for series R of QI.
My Father and step-Mother, celebrated their anniversary on April 1st. This was back in 1959- 1963, They had never married, living together was frowned upon back then. My Father was killed on his job in Jan 64.
I was actually told at school (schooled in France) that we celebrate April Fool's day because in the old Calendars the first of April was New Year's Day and once the calendars changed people kept wishing each other Happy New Year as a joke and then the jokes evolved from there. I never really researched this but I guess I just blindingly believed my teacher to this day. But I guess she might have told us a theory as a fact.
OMG, I had forgotten about the fish thing. My French teacher had told us about it, so every April 1st, it became a thing to try to pin a fish on Mille Laurant's back ... very few succeeded.
Just remembered..years ago I stuck a kiss me sign on the back of my older sisters back..she walked around the town for about 15 mins until someone told her lol she got no kisses but plenty of strange looks :)
Hi Sandi, you mentioned 'pigeon milk' but did you know that pigeons do indeed produce a milk-like substance for feeding their young? So do flamingos and, apparently, male emperor penguins.
I'm sad that I just learnt you aren't doing GBBO anymore :( you and Noel are hilarious and need to do some comedy vids! You in the sack almost caused me to have an internal bleed from laughing so hard. Thank you Sandy for these great knowledgable videos.. Any special unknown women involved with Rail? (trains, tracks etc)?

Yes, Sandi Toksvig really! You bigoted troll! She’s the only person worth listening to on tv these days....I can’t get enough of her or her common sense. I for one am a person who if I saw a sign saying “ stay of the grass”.... just have to ask “why” ....then walk on it.
When we toured the Eiffel Tower we were told that there was one ladies name on the tower, how sad that our guide was wrong, it pleased me no end. Now I doubt everything she said. Oh well one day
Could I be receiving lecture notes by writing? I have SA and I cannot manage to explain it to uni. Well, I guess 18th-century college was just more flexible.
giddda Sandy. back in about 2002 when everyone having email was still a newish i worked in sales for a company and 1 person in the office who was less than bright was having trouble sending an email and asked for help just as the general manager and marketing manager came to go over a project with me. I looked at the email address and realised he had missed the . between co & nz (should have been co.nz but he had conz). 2 thoughts race to my mouth "oh you mis a . between co & nz" and the one that won the race "oh you ran out of digital postage stamps, you will have to go up the road to (can't remember the shop) to get more. just put them on our account" this was a walk of 15 minutes each way. he was away for an hour. mean while the general manager, marketing manager, me and other staff laughed like made once he was out of earshot. he was less than happy when he got back due to looking an idiot in the shop. He spent ages trying to find a way to get even.
Love it, what a wonderful channel. Now, can I transfer my begging from Twitter to here, when we are clear of this predicament will you come along, or Skype, or record a short video on you amazing book Hitler's Canary, for the lovely children of Dundee? DM me on twitter?
how myth and history blend, I heard tell, when the calendars were changed April First was New Year's Day in the olde calendar, makes sense, Spring, Equinox, blah blah blah, when the calendars changed, those that still celebrated New Years in April were called April Fools for being foolish to follow the old calendar. who knows where the jokes came from..

Munchkin you are fantastic :) I’m 56 and you are my hero. And be as loud as you like! We’re up here yelling too :)

This is wonderful. Never stop, please.
Sandi, you are so missed. You were the bright spots during the Covid year. I wish you taped more episodes.
And now that we’re in our third lockdown, I’m listening for a second time with just as much pleasure. And just as grateful. X

Just like si many others I love listening to Sandi admiring her knowledge, humility and her great sense of humour. Simply brilliant 🤩
You really cheer me up each day with these stories! They're fascinating and a welcome escape from a busy house

Poisson d'Avril! Thank you for that, Sandi!
Bought Tree Wisdom audio and listened to some of it before I went to a peaceful tree sleep. Thank you. 🤗💦🧼👏🏼💦🌊🦈💦
This is brilliant! Tusen takk Sandi, du er enestående.
Thanks so much for these, they are brilliant viewing.
I once sent a new kid to a camera department for a five gallon drum of Technicolor®, that was my best April 1st.
Sandi, you're wholeheartedly undermining the QI elves, your *own* show... and I'm loving it :) Keep safe and well.
I love your work, i believe you would have made a great teacher and i feel i learn a lot from watching and listening to you.

Loving these Sandi! Happy Friday from lockdown in NZ!
Cheers and thanks!
Most enjoyable x

Sandi, it is impossible not to like you. Ah! How would I know? I have not even tried.
The idea of believing without question is the source of the current insanity!
Please please please make these into a book!
Just remembered..years ago I stuck a kiss me sign on the back of my older sisters back..she walked around the town for about 15 mins until someone told her lol she got no kisses but plenty of strange looks :)
Amazing!
Hi Sandi, you mentioned 'pigeon milk' but did you know that pigeons do indeed produce a milk-like substance for feeding their young? So do flamingos and, apparently, male emperor penguins.
Yet another story of how significant women were simply brushed aside by history. Glad we are slowly re-descovering and recognising them nowadays.
I was expecting a much smaller fish😁
Props to Sandi for thinking you do not have to be up close to the camera!! Leave it to a woman to figure it out!!! Thanks.
Fish on!
Sandi, SANDI you have a picture of a fish on your back. Sandi you're cool.
the inadvertent humor of pronouncing taco as tacko! Brits do it. Along with rhyming Maryland with fairyland, which is really nice, actually.

@@sheilachappell6073 You do understand I was joking, not insulting her, right?
That person was a true scientist, not in it for the fame or recognition but the furthering of human knowledge

The fish on her back was very predictable
