Watching this makes me feel about 10 again going with my late Father to pick up our brand new Skyline 240KGT in August 79 ACP340V, at about 6 months old the bumpers were showing rust , Dad was told must have been on the open deck of the ship must have been coursed by the sea air lol. Loved that car at about 5 years old he sold it too a mate.
Great car, had one in orange tan, heavy doors, dashboard like spaceship. Head gaskets always goes on these motors, whether its the 240K or the skyline.
In the UK the Skyline was the 240KGT we only had it in 2 door as my Dad had 1 from new the car in the video clearly the S on the front grill S on steering wheel Skyline under boot lid and Skyline GT on both sides of the rear quarter panels also in the UK this was the only model were other countries had different models & engines the UK was just 2 door Skyline 240KGT , my old man also had the generation before the C110 and that wasn't a Skyline it was just a 4 door 240KGT .
@@jeremywentworth1833 We had the 1978 2 door but 4 doors were available, there was a big difference in metal thickness between the 240k's up to 76 and the skylines after 1977. both models weren't long lived. I haven't seen any in the last couple of years were as Holden's from that time still show up o the road.
Had three, all went over 400,000ks No head gasket problems at all. Just sayin'!
@@vladislavfeldman6562Your clearly an Aussie to mention the 2 door & 4 door Skyline & mentioning.Holden. Did the 2 doors electric windows in the back drop down and panel with switch etc on have to come off to get the window back up. Old man use to say as I was 9 or 10 when he bought it , you've been playing with the windows .I hadn't and 70s with a Radio with a speaker on the dash board and an Hitachi cassette player underneath that had speakers at the front and back. My Dad ordered it brand-new and from ordering it we had it within under 11 weeks. Ours was Gold with a metallic brown bonnet & stripe that came along top of wings under Windows & upto roof. Very late 70s 80s. And the boost gauge which went up and down like the rev counter. Washers on lights & back windscreen rear wiper. Quite a luxurious car for the time..
@@jeremywentworth1833Yes, just migrated in 1978. Although when we had the 78 Skyline, which we got in 1982(till 86). I was the back seat driver, I don't remember if the back windows were electric. We also had about 3 or 4 as second cars ( the holden being the family car) 73-75 240k's 4 doors because they were so cheap . When the head went every 2 or 3 years, you just bought another car for $2000 or did the head gasket for $700
