- I couldn't find any traditional Libyan music, specifically Maloof (which i'm a fan of!), and so thought I would fill the gap! Enjoy!
This type of music is known as Maloof. It originated in Andalusia Spain when the Arabs ruled most of Spain. When the Arabs were expelled from Spain some of them went to North Africa and took this type of music with them. As a result Morocco, Tunisia & Algeria also have a similar style of Maloof music although it is known by a different name in those countries. (find out more here: en.wikipedia.or....
The artist that sung the song in my video is called Hassan Arabi. There are many groups in Libya who sing Maloof, but Hassan Arabi and his group are one of the most well known.
If you would like to download this song (it's called Bushra Haniyah) and others you can get them here:

+dooli1981 you're the man!
Goood. Love all kind of maluf. Algerian Tunisian and libyan
Thanks for the comment. Can you give me any good links to Tunisian and Algerian Maluf because I have never heard them before?
@@dooli1981 I know it's been years but look Zied Gharsa. He's a well known Malouf singer in Tunisia. We call it Malouf too.
This is sound like our morrocan andalusi song
not at all, I think that the Tunisian and Libyan Malouf have lost a lot of the Andalusian character. They are more influenced by oriental and Turkish music.
👍 such soothing music.
You can download more songs like these, check the video description.
Thanks shookrin.
I love maloof

Help, i'm not fluent in Arabic, what does Bushra Haniyah mean min fad lak?
@@lmaahmed2074 So if someone had a birth of a child then this is where Bushra Haniyah would come to play?
@@axjmd This poem is talking about the Prophet birth , so its more suitable for religious occasions , but Malouf Can be played in all type of occasions
Bushra haniyah it means what a great surprise I have ever !!!!!
The closest translation I can think of is good right now would be something like good omen.
This is my contry music ):(
Where may I purchase Hassan Arabi's CDs?!
I don't think they're available in the UK to be honest. You can download a number of songs in the link in the description. The quality is not perfect but it should be good enough.
I am a Libyan Jew from Israel. I grew up on a Libyan tradition - mainly food and music. Now I learn Arabic. I know that most of the Libyans hate Jews and my country, but I don't give a damn.
Apparently the majority of Libyans don't hate Israel: ua-cam.com/video/2loIfZ3vVeI/v-deo.html
much love to you from libya, take care
Libyans don’t hate you they hate operators thieves killers horrible people who try to justify wrong doers
Do you have Libyans ?
