    Best combo ive tried so far is the north face AMK L1 and L2 or the Mountain equipment eclipse (amazing and super protective hood design for a base layer) and the shroud midlayer which I've had a lot of use in both high wind situations and winter blizzards, the switch pro with polartech alpha has been a highlight also with it's ability to breath, that's been the mix ive used but ive also heard the kinesis set from ME also work super well for the deep cold

      I have a precursor to the AMK L1 (crew) and wear it a lot on deeply cold days when the second layer (and that second layer's hood) are going to stay on. A good box fleece first layer with something brushed and smooth to not restrict my range of motion for the second layer makes me feel good on bad weather days.
