“Give a child some colors, a sheet of paper and ask him to draw a car. Surely it will turn red” Enzo Ferrari
GT2 RS has been developed on the Nurburgring, so of course it's faster there. Meanwhile, the Pista beats it at Hockenheim GP, Magny Cours, Anglesey Circuit, on the Autocar track and the Top Gear test track.
@@radman3206 google around and you'd find articles from journalists that mention that the cars sent by Ferrari to reviewers are not the same as actual Ferrari road cars.
if i was born as a rich arab i'd still take a Porsche over a Ferrari. Porsche owners actually track their cars instead of using them for "clout", making aftermarket performance parts for Porsche widely available and mature. For half mile racing, twin turbo Huracans are the best supercars that do so. my dream car is a viper though.
@@sepg5084 I'm well aware of that hoary old chestnut. Facts are Ferrari is a profitable company who, at least in my country, always presell their inventory and have a loyal customer base. Resale values speak for themselves, particularly in comparison to McLaren and Lamborghini. They have an exclusivity factor in comparison to Porsche. No offense to that brand's vehicles, but they are so common as to not be noticeable.
The internet needs more Steve Sutcliffe.
Top Gear should be Chris Harris, Steve Sutcliffe and Jethro Bovingdon.
all of them are no doubt excellent journalists and drivers, but hammond may and clarkson were also childish what made them quite enjoyable to follow
Sutcliffe impressed me when he drove the 07 Honda F1 car at a damp Silverstone. He was only a few tenths off James Rossiter
You know it’s serious when Sutcliffe is on the scene.
when steves's voice emerged I opened my mouth so lucky to watch his video on EVO channel
This damn car is just a dream!! I would chose this one over almost every modern car.
A journalist asked Enzo Ferrari "which one of Ferrari is the best?"
Il commendatore answered: "the next one"
Nothing feels more special than driving a Ferrari
MoJo 2977 well you’ve never driven an F40, F50, laferrari, F12TDF, 360CS, 458S...
One of the greatest and most beautiful supercars ever made, period. It's simply amazing! The 458 Speciale was already God-like and the 488 Pista is another step up from that. Ferrari just keeps on raising the bar. Can't wait to see what Ferrari comes out with next.
@@RadialSeeker113 Mclaren never beats Ferrari around the track its just facts. The Senna is the only supercar Mclaren has made in the 2000's that can do numbers that will evem compete with ferrari. The SF90 Stradale will no doubt be a beast and maybe the quickest car ever made by ferrari
@@RadialSeeker113 Well the 765LT might be slightly faster than 1:10.8 the time the Pista here was on a slightly greasy track so on a more confident lap in good track conditions the Pista probably can manage a sub 1:10, that's a tall order for the new 765LT, ultimately it will probably be a bit faster BUT you have to consider nearly 2 years of engineering progress and the fact that McLaren tune their Riccardo V8 Turbos much higher than Ferrari do and that's obviously at the expense of reliability as seen on nearly all Mcalren cars, Ferrari could easily tune their V8 turbos to over 800hp easily but be less reliable but hey come on... Mclaren mask their hp numbers and even the 720s actually produces near 800hp at the crank so let's assume the 765LT produces around 840hp compared to the Pista's 710hp of course on similar tyres with 2 years extra development the 765LT will be faster, that's a no brainer BUT the question is could it beat the Pista if it only had 710hp? I doubt it would.
Steve and EVO. One of the best combination. Great job everyone :)
Good EVO is back I guess.
Lately EVO's 🔥🔥
like in 2010, when all the 458's glue got to hot and started to bun the car to ashes? :)
Absolutely incredible machine, driven by one of the greats.
svtrader he is in my opinion, hence why I posted such a comment 🤷🏻♂️
svtrader I'd be completely shocked if the petrol heads watching this wouldn't agree with me though 😬
I think that Ferrari and porsche are the best in making perfect super /sport cars
@stanley jean oh please...ferrari is king...dont compare those overated pregnant roller skate to the legend ferrari..

@@villaverdeeggs lol... Porsche beats Ferrari in competitions so please... we don't do fanboys. They are both two of greatest brands of history.
what a masterpiece of car. but I find my self still liking good old 458 speciale more.. Ferrari makes such a likable toys..
That old N/A V8 had the most amazing sound ever, yes. This is nice, and of course way faster in every way, but the old engine was a masterpiece.
yes ! speciale has its own characteristics. plus with that na v8. oh god ! na i will go for speciale and turbo i will go for pista.
@@littleace8967 cheers bro, totally agree. I'd much rather have Pista over 720s for example, mental toy..
Quicker than a P1 & 918 on a damp track... thats pretty astonishing.
the new Cup2R tyres make the difference! 918 Spyder was on normal Cup2 Tyres and the P1 was on Corsa and TrofeoR Tyres.
It's a Ferrari. The customer cars won't be anywhere near this fast. Get a press car if you can.
918 and P1 are too powerful for that short track anyway. Even the pista is but Cup2 R tire does miracles.
The 911 GT2 RS time was on normal Cup2 btw.
@@runnerbaba in Vairano the Pista was on normal cup2 tyres and it still was faster than the 918 ;)
Absolutely love your reviews Steve. Hope you get the F8 and the SF90 as well.
So glad Sutcliffe is doing videos for EVO now! Amazing machine and Anglesey is as stunning a track as ever. Thank you.
Steve Sutcliffe, Chris Harris, Dickie Meaden and Henry Catchpole are the best journos. They bring these cars to life. Without these guys they're just cars.
cant wait to see SF90!
Really awesome footage. That engine sound is incredible!
Awesome driving Steve. A real pleasure to watch mate.
You can almost feel the acceleration yourself when you hear this this rev up. Haven't felt that since the LFA really.
Good to see EVO back in the mix
I love the Ferrari pista so much ,perfectly at it's finest.
Mat is the best for every day cars, but this guy is No.1 for really fast cars.
Bloody hell EVO! Keep uploading, please don’t forget your channel!
Been waiting for this one for a long time
Terrific video. Thanks keep them coming.
superb - extra points for having Steve on
It murder an Enzo in every department. Incredible
And? The Enzo is still an absolute hell of a car, just like the McLaren F1.
@@SuperGeronimo999 the one I dream of between the 2? The Enzo for sure
@@Maurice_Moss the paper, in reality I m sure you will be more confortable to push the 488 to vmax than the Enzo.
Well, let's see what the F8 Tributo can do. And then the "Pista" - or whatever they call it - version of it.
Could it possibly be a little bit faster??? A bold claim I know, but I talked to a guy who has a car and he said he thinks the F8 version will be faster. So there. Probably not as fast as the car after the F8 though, so probably best to wait until that's released
@@Malc180s In the latest evo they say that the F8 on cup2 tires is slower but within 0.5 sec of the Pista, so still slower but not by much. The Pista's replacement will be crazy.

@@Malc180s Time will tell, but I think it will be much faster, just like the Pista is much faster than the Speciale, which was much faster than the Scuderia and so on...
Steve "The Voice" Sutcliffe......I'm really enjoying all of your vids lately
Steve do you prefer the gear levers to be on the steering wheel (like in most race cars) or attached to the steering column like in the Pista (requiring you to take your hand off the steering wheel to shift)?
I love that when it starts accelerating, the captions say 'music' 👌😆
The presentation of this video is supreme. Top stuff.
I wonder if that short ratio gearbox would be a hassle on a higher speed circuit. The amount of up/downshifting at Anglesey was considerable, Steve was upshifting during the middle of many corner exits.
Where did you place the mic? Damn it sounds soo good
Siddharth Sharma when you’re inside one all you can hear is the turbos whistling and dumping
Seems there are a lot of experts in the comment section here that know better than Steve... LOL
Own a McLaren, however not sure how any petrol headed like minded people, can’t agree that this Ferrari is incredible piece of kit, recently tracked my car there, very technical, not sure why they don’t use the full circuit 🤔
I am in love with the pista .
Quicker than a P1, 918, 720S, GT2 RS... let that sink in. This car isn't called Pista for nothing.
Cezanne Dutta nah senna would win, but that’s not exactly In the same category
@@devinb3397 I know the Senna would win,but I didn't realize that lap times had categories.
Where is the mic that rec the engine...i never heard a sound like this form a 488
Over a second faster than a gt2 rs,
@@drepark2294 Still, the track was damp and Steve said there is another 0.5s in it. The car is just better, mid engine will always be better than rear engine, no matter what trickery Porsche will use to mask the inferior engine placement, can't cheat physics.
arekb5 dude I can see you are a Ferrari fan, let me tell you how these test go, Ferrari supply these test with “press cars” specifically designed for the test. They supply one car for track work and another for acceleration test. They show up to every test with a shit load of engineers and basically tell the reviewer what to say. This has been documented over and over. The same reason why the acceleration of the Pista is quicker in test but a video of a customer car racing a 720s it lost and the member was banned from Ferrari chat. Ferrari makes great cars but they prep them to never lose or else they wouldn’t be invincible and people like you would think less of the brand.
488 Pista values just doubled after this video!
Watching how fast this Ferrari was pretty much everywher, what shocked me most was when he said it's also a road car😃
The Ferrari 488 Pista is perfect! But time would be even faster if she were using the Trofeo R tire option!
It has the fastest tyres anyway. They do this to gain a second on track at least.
I would like to know how close is the F8 Tributo to the Pista?
So wild,that’s insane.
Yes, more Steve!
Steve Sutcliffe you are the man with the best voice on youtube can listen to you for hours👍. And yes woow what a car love that 488 pista 👍
There should be a separate board for cars that requires team of engineers every time You go to track...
Good point, reeks of desperation for a road car... desperate not to be 2nd.
False.
First of all, all supercars usually come with a team of engineers. They don't "require it", they are just there because someone has to deliver the car and make sure it's treated properly, and then take it back to the factory. These cars aren't delivered by being driven on the road across the continent, they come on trucks.
Secondly, the 488 Pista has already proven to be the fastest supercar out there on track so this result is no surprise. It beat the 720S, 911 GT2 RS, Lamborghini Huracan Performante, etc. in every comparison test by multiple journalists all over the world. Yes, even WITHOUT the engineers. Wanna see an example of that? Go to the french Motorsport Magazine videos and watch their test from earlier this year, where the Ferrari 488 Pista they had was a registered costumers car lent to them, with like 14000 km's on the clock already, and the Mclaren 720S and Porsche 911 GT2 RS were factory delivered cars with teams of factory engineers with them, and the 488 Pista wiped the floor with them on Magni-Cours anyway. It didn't even have brand new tires on it.
Joel Schembri so you are now comparing a Senna, a limited a edition car that priced 120% more to a Pista? 🤣🤣🤣 thats some cry of desperation right there
@Joel Schembri And this one sounded like it was shorter geared than normal. No way a twin turbo car spools up that fast.
Hence, all the short shifting in corners by Sutcliffe.
wonder how many Ferrari mechanics were on site and how sticky the Cup2R were ;)
But, it's Steve, so automatic thumbs up.
This is a 488 Pista review as it should be!
Does it come with cup 2 R tyres? This tyre is easily two seconds quicker than anything out there which makes the 720 look even better.
720 on Trofeo R’s and full McLaren mechanics team lapped 1.8secs slower than a customer Pista at Magny Cours. Same driver, same day. Video is on UA-cam. Try again
..Does look even better for the Pista since the 720s has something like 800hp..
German Big @ no trofeo r are better then cup2, cup2r are within half a second of trofeo r
love his reviews . him and chris harris.
I think the BAC Mono needs some boost like the Pista, what yah think?
Cinematography is the absolute nuts with this one boys.
Steve Sutcliffe you are the best.
Nice sound
Faster than a P1 on its best tyres?!? Woooooow
The Cup2 R is actually better. There is a test out that proves it on 1st lap.
having to take a hand off the wheel to shift.....I don't get mounting the paddles like that
EVO's uploading regular vids. the world is alright after all
Love McLaren but Ferrari did this car proud the beauty to detail is just magnificent and performance is just bang on for them switching back to turbocharging just shy of the 720s speed but cornering and handling is better
Supercars though must have the excitement and wow factor , no mclaren other than f1 has that wow factor . They just dont excite , yeh there fast inbetween break downs and problems but theres just something bland about them .
@@paulthomson9709 I agree u have McLaren only just starting out really and establishing their brand to get up to where Ferrari and Lamborghini are but downfalls of that are that all of it is very new tech and when it goes wrong which alot of the time it does its costly to fix yeah their range beats any other car performance wise but styling and unique quality Lamborghini and Ferrari are leaps above them with materials used interior and exterior
@@anonlincracing2484 to me personally I think mclaren are more interested in selling as many numbers and as many models as possible , it seemed as though for a while there was a new model launching every few months , and when you look at them there all pretty much the same cars underneath just with slightly different designed bodies and states of tune . I think the longest I've gone without seeing a mclaren whether it's a mp4 a 650 or a 540 or 570 in various states of tune is about 3 or 4 days , even when I first saw a p1 at a show it just wasnt different enough to stir any excitement from me
@@paulthomson9709 same as what Porsche n Ferrari are doing but on a smaller scale striking while the irons hot
@@anonlincracing2484 porsche and ferrari though offer different cars with different engines , different layouts , 2 seats and 2 plus 2 , mclaren will offer a car with only a rwd twin turbo v8 , I want to get excited about mclaren but I just cant . This is insane, especially considering that it’s not even a “perfect” lap (went too wide at 39 seconds in, for example). Nonetheless, great driver and phenomenal car.
Sutcliffe! used to love his reviews for Autocar. Very detailed without sounding boring, unlike the new guy.
Beautiful
Bang! Game over!
epic drive Steve expected from Pista tht it will redefine the V8 era
Has such a happy shark or happy snake look to it
That sound.. ❤️
Need to compare all these cars as closely as reasonably possible. That is roughly the same conditions and the same tyres. (Same driver might be asking a bit too much) This would go some way to giving a closer comparison. Anyway, fantastic car and review. IMO if any of us get to drive any of these top cars within that top 5-10 second window we'll be having one monumental driving experience :)
SF90, Pista, F8 Tributo, 720S, Senna, GT2RS, GT2RS Manthey Racing? And with optimal tyres?

Absolutely great circuit machine. Gearbox is incredibly FAST !
Is the driven wheel geometry inside Ferraris tolerances as normal customers would drive them or did they just go wild for this track? If i had to guess id say its the later!
Was that turbo lag though? Every corner Sutcliffe was on and off the loud pedal.
Just seemed like too much of a bloody animal really! That engine probably has the least lag out've all these modern turbo supercars....especially the McLarens

Where has Steve been all this time??? Get him back more often!!!!
Amazing 🤤
Can you please get a F8 Tributo on to compare. Apparently, it has 10% more down than the Pista. Also, keeping the Ferrari vs McLaren is a great comparison.
Wow..The Pista is clearly faster on every circuit than the huge winged gt2 rs which every one bang about so much..And the 720s has like 800hp and a carbon tub so it's no suprise it's that fast..
And yet the 720s is slower on every track, it is faster only on a straight line
Why are you saying that 720 has 800 power, where does this information come from?
From a big Ferrari fan...perfect review for a perfect car, seriusly THE perfect car for a trackday...BUT, the sound...i miss so much that sound...and if i can buy just one supercar in my life i want a big sound engine...lfa, 430 scud, mercedes amg gt, lamborghini huracan...
If you hear a Pista in real life you will not complain about the sound believe me.
Imagine the new Tributo with pista specs...
Awesome!, but the shifts looks scary and not perfect. When you have to let go of the steering wheel :(..
what?.. damn that's crazy

Dan Butler @ watch the Magny record video, with a customer car
😂😂I m sorry but that thing with chris is getting old, always when a Ferrari is faster, I wonder is it a press car🤔😂
@@droptopdan actually at Magny Cours the Pista was a customer car and the Mclaren was a press car, and Ferrari obliterated it.
That’s why you should look at Sport auto or auto Bild times who actually dump and weigh the cars they get
jeez that's rapid
Seems like you lose some time in two corners because you hit the gas too early, lift off and hit the gas again. Looks like the mid corner speed is too low so you push it into understeer trying to make up for that.
SF 90 tech maybe for replacement...
Incredible! Sure the McLarens are great machines and in a straight line drag the 720S can beat the Pista, however, the Ferrari is a superior car on the track(Pista). To beat the GT2RS is quite an accomplishment. Is there a link to the Leaderboard times?
GT2 RS wasn't on a R tire like Pista. Neither was 720S. Now that LT is out will Pista be called superior.
Bac mono style the King!
ok, i want a pista now
This thing sounds better than the current GT3 race car.
