- Starting in California we venture across the country in efforts to make it to TougeCon in Fayetteville Arkansas in just a few days time!
My turbo miata has been nothing but reliable to me but after many hard driven days and zero checks before our trip some problems started to show up. I hope you enjoy part one of our journey!

I was not expecting a Roadkill show from Dan. This was great.
As a local to Las Vegas, the reason no one else left immediately when the light changed green like you did (@ 14:00), is we have so many drunk drivers/tourists here, that accidents happen all the time, and people running reds is a common occurrence. We all wait a few seconds when the light changes green to try and live a bit longer. As a fellow Miata owner, props for driving that thing cross country! Not sure my NA would make it.

For as experienced as Dan is I'm surprised he doesn't have extra coil packs injectors and spare fuel pump. 🤔 Hardware should be striped with paint pen so you can visually see if they are coming loose. Glad your safe though. ✊

Ditch that Mishimoto cap, man.
Idk why they put such cheap caps on their radiators, but I've had several where the tabs just tear after having it on and off a few times, allowing them to leak.
Replaced with Greddy caps and no issues ever again🤙🏻

What a great watch! Similar thing happened to me, taking the fam and doggo up north west to CO from TX in a New to Me Outback. We made it about 10 hours into the trip when the timing belt slipped and the pistons slapped the valves. Had to be rescued and towed, while we downsized and continued the trip in a kia soul. lmao. It's all part of the experience IMO. My subi has a new motor now, and continues to take us all over, which just makes me love the car more.

I know I’m a little late to the party but I fucking love those seats, dude. My girlfriend thinks I’m trash because of how much I fuck with animal print and I’ve gotta pass the blame to you lmao. When you first put those seats in the Yata I was sold 10/10 made me a leopard/cheetah print fan 😂

Is it a road trip with no breakdowns or problems. Last one I went on 3 breakdowns , 2 parts went goodbye 1 puncture, lucky I left 4 days early and enjoyed ever minute of it need to go on another soon. Great video car sounds spicy
Cars always break down when they cross California border. It's Nevadas first line of defense. A long ass desert full of nothing 😄.

ive driven my na from virginia to california back in 2015. no real issus. i daily drive an nb1 now since the na is a garage queen and i couldnt imagine the struggles in the nb lol. these second gen miatas break all the time. its on par with the reliability of my fc i had years ago.

Jeeez, I just went from Milwaukee to Virginia and back with my 01 Miata. No problems what so ever, this kinda makes me not want to turbo it. Even though I already ordered a gt2560r kit lol
I had no issue with the turbo whatsoever. Just shitty old coil packs and being to low

Dude i hav a 03 miata. Its those F'ing coil packs bro. Ive had the car 3 years changed it twice already. First time it happened couldn't figure out the issue but now that i kno the car its nothing. Coil pks and slave cylinders will go out on Miatas, keep one of them handy to lol

Those NB coil packs are dicks. Mine was intermittent for 2-300 miles then luckily died at home. Any partner that doesn’t kick off when you get stuck by the side of the road with a broken car for 3 hrs s a keeper for sure! Not sure my wife of 25 years would be too keen to spend that long with me in an MX5 lol.
note to self: if i ever wanna slam my car...use airbags, not coilovers lol
I'm on bc coils with swift springs 7/6k nb my car is on its balls and it rides really nice till it bottoms out on the road lol
