    You guys notice in this episode that Bakugo, Ida, Ashido, Mineta, and Sero aren't wearing their masks/helmets when Class A was trying to get Deku back to U.A. Even Koda and Kirishima took their headgear off mid-battle.

    One last thing haha,
    A lot of people dont realize just how long Deku was out there on the streets doing this for. He had been doing this stuff for MONTHS, in the same outfit, no bath, barely any breaks, and very little food.
    Dude has to smell CRAZYYY

    This is so big of Bakugo. It's only been about a year since they joined UA. I feel like most people wouldn't find the guts to apologize until college or something.

      My Thoughts exactly
      Honestly, the ONLY way I can see Horikoshi making that moment even better is if, instead of Deku tripping over and Bakugo catching him, Deku falls to his knees, then we get a flashback to when they were both kids in the river, with a wide-shot of Deku reaching his hand out to help Bakugo, then we return to the present, and get a wide-shot of Bakugo reaching HIS hand out to help Deku!!!
      😢🥺😭🤧
      It would’ve fully illustrated how much both these characters have grown, and how they’ve come full-circle!
      Also, I’ve got an idea for Bakugo/DynaMight’s new epithet: The MVP-Hero! FatGum’s the BMI-Hero, Bakugo’s the MVP-Hero!🤯

    I like them catching up to Deku parallels how Deku tried to save bakugo in kamino. From the combination of quirks to propel them forwards, Shoto making the ice ramp to jump up, and instead of Bakugo being the one to reach out to Deku, they had Iida reach his hand out, just like how Deku had Kirishima reach his hand out instead.

      Agreed! Iida’s been kinda relegated to the sidelines for a while now, so having him coming in clutch like this, (am I using that expression right?) was super-satisfying, especially because I’m a sucker for Speedsters!
      Y’know what could’ve made the episode a lot shorter though? If Uraraka said what SHE really Needed to say, and finally confessed her love for Deku. I mean COME ON, this would’ve been the PERFECT time to tell him, right? It would’ve stopped him dead in his tracks! Lol
      And especially with the stakes as high as they are now, and Deku still at the center of it all, if Uraraka doesn’t tell him soon, she might never get the chance to again. If she’s thinking, “I’ll tell him how I feel once the Ultimate Final-Battle is over”, that would basically confirm that she’s gonna DIE in said battle.😢

BTW, when they do get together, what do ya think Deku’s gonna name his latest “Smash?” He’ll probably name it after wherever they go for their honeymoon after they get married. I bet it’ll either be:

    What are your thoughts on those who wished this was more of a brawl than it was? Personally I found it couldn't have gone better, deku definitely took some clean hits as you saw. But so many people were upset with this episode saying it was emotionally void. Which I couldn't disagree with more. I was expecting a brawl at the start, cause that would be the "cool" anime thing. But I was genuinely surprised by this episode, that apology at the end, I gasped outloud. I knew bakugo felt bad, as we saw in past episodes and through his actions. But I never thought we'd hear him apologize, and I wouldn't have fully complained. Bakugo clearly regrets pushing deku away, and deku himself never felt bothered truly once they understood each other.
    And so many people just didn't understand deku, they hear "dark deku" and assumed he was gonna just smash and beat everyone. But forgetting why he's here in the first place!! To protect them!

    • @AGoodwinTV
      @AGoodwinTV  Рік тому +18

      It doesn't make sense to me for them to actually fight it out. Deku's clearly not interested in fighting them, his goal is just to get away. And they're there to help him, not destroy what's left of him.

    • @TimothyGod
      @TimothyGod Рік тому +5

      @@AGoodwinTV right? I was trying to understand what reason it would make more sense in, and the answer I always got was "it says fight they should fight. It's dark deku he isn't very dark" and I always respond with "he's dark in mentality, sure he's beating villains. But he isn't himself".
      Deku also apologizing for doing what bakugo has been doing his whole life "you aren't good enough. You can't keep up" so when deku apologizes, it hits especially hard. Cause he was being the bully in this case. And the fact that bakugo let someone else reach for deku, much like what he did back at kamino vs all for one the first time when he got captured. It's such a good callback.

    11:30 the great thing about heroism is that heroes don’t always have to be powerful. Being a hero is subjective to each person. Your actions make you a hero, that doesn’t just mean saving lives or being brave. Being a hero could be as simple as donating clothes to those in need or feeding the homeless, it could be teaching valuable lessons or being a shoulder to cry on.

    14:48 I remember reading this part with a thought that its only a matter of time for Horikoshi to reveal the traitor if there was one because Deku returning UA means the goons AFO sent to capture OFA failed & secondly, AFO is finally free again to contact them...something he couldn't do since his capture.

    Finally. I was both beyond ready and absolutely scared of this episode. I'm happy to note that it did I wanted and that you got to see it!
    One of the biggest attractions to this show for a long time has been the developing relationship between these two childhood-friends-turned-enemies. I related a lot with Bakugo and wanted to see him grow into someone genuinely respectable. And I was a little miffed off when the official manga translation did him dirty.
    See, what was so important to me was Bakugo's line of "I get it" that was translated as a general "we get it" in the official manga (because the original "waatteru" doesn't include any reference to pronouns). It's been over a year since chapter 322 was published, and I'm still honestly not totally sure what it is specifically that peeved me off about that change.
    But one of the general things I've seen with these two is that one of their main points of contention is their lack of understanding each other and for Bakugo to was the words "I understand" to DEKU of all people was a huge step for him.
    I know that its overall shadowed by him apologizing for most people--which I won't lie that IS a huge moment--but it didn't hit nearly as hard for me as that moment after when Bakugo catches Deku as he falls and says "Yeah, I get what you mean". Without it, honestly, the apology means nothing.
    Deku's been doing his absolute best to make amends with this kid he's known his whole life, and it's here, I think, Bakugo actually makes an attempt himself. And to generalize it for the whole class in a meaningless "Yeah no one hates you" kind of way bugs me.
    (See, a year and a half since 322 and I still don't like that explanation totally. Feel like it's missing something.)

    • @Ryan_gogaku
      @Ryan_gogaku Рік тому

      Very interesting thoughts. I think, like a lot of Bakugo's speech, it's meant to have multiple meanings / be 'aimai' (intentionally ambiguous). I think you're right that the "main / primary" meaning is that he knows what it means to hurt Deku with words he didn't mean and said out of fear. But I think it also simultaneously is reassurance that the rest of 1A doesn't begrudge him, either. I think also the choice "waatteru" is meaningful. It's not "waatta," which would mean "I get it now thanks to your explanation." Instead, "waatteru" is more like "I already knew that / we knew that when you said it."

  • @Kaempfdog
    @Kaempfdog Рік тому +15

    This is my all time favorite fight of MHA. This just dethroned All-Might’s Last Stand in Season 3 as my personal favorite episode.
    This episode is SHEER heartbreak. And the fact Izuku is more or less dying of that throughout makes this so much harder. Izuku has been nothing but selfless to the core throughout all of MHA. And what happens after each and every major event, he is not met with comfort or reassurance, but lectures and disregard. No matter how many lives he has saved. And that is at the core of all of this. Lack of faith. Izuku has powered through each and every arc in this show with no one believing in him. Crushed by the expectations of a 200 year conflict and even as he surpasses his ideals, he is STILL met with the same lack of faith throughout the story. From his teachers, from his classmates, from his mother, from the holders, from AFO (more to the point he’s so much less threatened by Izuku than All-Might.), his mentors, and more. He has spent this ENTIRE show making sacrifice after sacrifice. Slowly coming to a single devastating conclusion. Deku is OFA. But what else is there?
    And that is where this fight goes from sad to heartbreaking. This fight is Izuku trying to prove over and over again he can do this. And Class 1-A now sees the burden on his shoulders. And they all try to interpret it. What he means to the effort, how he might be playing into the enemies hands, and what he’s done for them. And they might have this gratitude. But they all slowly prove his point. This is a 19v1 battle and Izuku Midoriya proves what he has EASILY overcoming the most powerful classmates.
    I’ve made this analogy before and I feel it sticks VERY well. This is the equivalent of coming across Superman covered in blood and charred remains everywhere and him crying in a corner…and the general response is, “You know, Darkseid may have wanted this. You should be careful how you apply your heat vision. You know people are scared of you when you look like this. Are you living up to the ideals of your value as a hero? Here’s my thoughts on how I desire to be a hero. Sorry I bullied you in elementary school.” That is what Izuku hears throughout this. They are touching him and he’s crying because it means a lot that every little thing he’s done means so much to them. But…they’re kinda missing the point.
    Izuku Midoriya is TRASHED internally. His physical exhaustion DOES end this fight less any specific speech going through to him. Even Bakugo’s. But almost everything here is just another burden for him to bare. Nearly every idealistic point has crossed his mind, every paranoid faction of AFO being after him has crossed his mind. AFO can show up at ANY moment and COMPLETELY overpower Deku AND the other kids. And that paranoia is driving him forward. And none of the kids are going through the perspective Izuku Midoriya…is separate from his efforts. He is burdened of the god conflict. At the end of the day, no quirk other than OFA has charged for 200 years to tackle the man who has spent 200 years gathering powers. Izuku Midoriya is going to be the last holder of OFA. That remains unchanged. (If he isn’t, that basically means Deku failed.)
    The kids mean a LOT to him. And I won’t deny their efforts are the sweetest things. (Except Sato deciding to Blackmail Izuku for some reason. XD I just think YEAH, I need food coloring for Eri’s candy apples. I’ll just stop what I’m currently doing.)
    Then there’s Bakugo’s apology. I…love this moment for Bakugo. He has come such a long way in accepting Izuku and making himself a better person as a result. But…this is where a biting reality comes into play. When Bakugo says Izuku for the 1st time since he came up with the name Deku for him. When Bakugo calls Izuku the name Deku. It’s always been by his definition. There was no point where Bakugo started using his hero name definition, there is no point where he has been calling him a hero. He has ALWAYS been calling him useless. Which matches with how he’s supplied more doubt to Deku’s efforts than ANYONE. So that apology as HUGE as it is for Bakugo…it essentially means “I see you as a person.” This is why I’ve brought up that Bakugo has competed with OFA, NOT Izuku Midoriya. He respects All-Might’s decision to pass on OFA to Izuku and will now help All-Might by getting Izuku to this ideal they’ve both seen their whole lives. Izuku CLEARLY can tell how much care Bakugo put into those words…but…again, this…doesn’t save Izuku. How could it? And I’ll say this because it means a lot in of itself. Izuku Midoriya…doesn’t forgive him. Instead he takes the moment to apologize to THEM. Because even though they’ve missed the mark on his efforts, they are living to his ideals. But the lack of forgiveness stuck out to me WAY more.
    The fact he IMMEDIATELY turns to leave when met with the crowd proves he HADN’T been saved. Even with no energy at all, and each of his classmates doing EVERYTHING to stop him so he can finally rest and release some burden. He STILL turns to leave. Izuku Midoriya is still covered in the efforts of being the holder of OFA. Based on everything we’ve seen this season, AFO or AFS to these people COULD come at any moment and battle Deku. And Deku proved he’s in no shape to win, AND he almost won a 19v1 at his LOWEST. OFA will always be the underdog to AFO. That is a FACT. Even if they are now equal quirks due to OFA being the better stockpiler, AFO on a fundamental level is twice the quirk OFA is. (OFA is give, and AFO is give AND take.) And his release? Being in a place where everyone views him as their GREATEST THREAT to their safety. This place is probably the biggest burden he’s ever felt in his life. And that is SAYING SOMETHING. THIS place could cause his burdens to reach critical mass and he could ABSOLUTELY die of heartbreak. This is more a prison less a sanctuary.
    This episode is DEVASTATING. And one I’ll admire for its best efforts for as long as I live. But this is 2-ways. Just because the intentions are pure and executed for what needs to be said, it doesn’t mean that it’ll effect anything. Both ways.

      This is another one of those "time will tell" situations but my feeling about it is that this is the best possible situation right now. The hatred or fear of Deku is unfortunate and kind of soul crushing after some of the most heartwarming moments of the show, but to me there's a path for Deku to lean into his friendships, take the leap of faith to share the load, realize that the way he was living was unsustainable, and start to refocus his energy more productively, rather than trying to suffer everything alone.
      The risks are present no matter what, he's in danger no matter what, his friends are in danger no matter what. Not living in UA doesn't guarantee survival for any of them, in fact it might put them in more danger (if Deku collapses / gets tired out and succumbs to AFO).
      And I think, just thematically, the One Hero to Rule Them All is a thing of the past (I think it will be a more collective effort), and moving on and surpassing his predecessors means not succumbing to the same mistakes, in this case All Might's "I'm always okay" facade.
      Is it a total fix, definitely not. I think Deku is going to struggle under the weight of his position no matter what. But at least he'll do so with people who care about him and people he cares about.

      @@AGoodwinTV emotionally yes. Physical backup? He will DEFINITELY get it. Izuku was placing not the single villain he HAS to fight, but EVERY villain. And while I’m all but certain the kids aren’t going to be able to do anything meaningful to the AFO’s, they CAN still loosen his burden. Izuku can’t fight Nomu, AFS, AFO, the league, and what remains of the liberation by himself, but he is ABSOLUTELY designed to battle AFS all quirks with the absolute maximum of OFA.

      Interesting what you say about Izuku getting to the "ideal" and living those ideals. I saw the manga panel for the apology moment, and when Bakugo says "ideal", it's written with the kanji for "ideal" 理想, but then the furigana guide on it says "All-Might." I'm not sure how much people speak Japanese, and I'm having trouble explaining this, but basically, Horikoshi is saying "I'm talking about ideals in an abstract sense here, yes, but at the same time, it also means All-Might, as an 'ideal' in itself."

    Speaking of the traitor, back when this first happened in the manga theorists noticed that Aoyama and Hagakure (invisible girl) basically weren’t involved in the “saving deku” scene. This gave off major red flags that either might be the traitor, although considering how weird the writing had gotten I wasn’t sure how important that detail was. It was still fun to watch people debate who was the traitor, especially since the fact that it still hadn’t been revealed was really starting to irritate people.
