    Nice to see a few wagons still in AN green. Hopefully this line can continue for many years. 42 trains per week. It showcases the efficiency of rail. Thanks for sharing.

      The mine and operator seem to have a great relationship too! Never been any threat to move to road, that I've ever heard. Train will be here to stay given it's the largest deposit of Gypsum in Australia and they think they've only mined a small amount of in the last 70 years. Thanks for watching!

    My dad lives in Ceduna right along the train line, when I was we used to hear the old alcos coming ran outside and race the train up the street. That was over 25 years ago. The line is still running strong

      It's changed a lot since I first visited in 2014, only 10 years ago so I can only imagine how different it would've been 25 years ago! Grain Trains would've still been operating then aswell, making for a much different rail scene.

      Yes, it can be hit and miss to see them. Wasn't even meant to end up in Ceduna on this trip so lucky in a few ways I suppose. Either way I would've been happy with twin 2300s aswell. Thanks for watching.

    Great video. Filmed the last days of the Port Lincoln grain operations in 2019. I'm pretty sure you guys were there at the same time flying your drone. Never did get up to the gypsum operation. Cheers.

      Thanks mate! I think we were there about a month or so before the end of the ops so maybe. The Gypsum Train is worth the trip if you get the chance!

    There are some people in Port Lincoln who would like to see a passenger line link down from Whyalla. I wonder if they'll ever get their wish?

      We don't even have a passenger train from Adelaide to Whyalla! I highly doubt a line to Port Lincoln from Whyalla will ever be constructed for passenger.

      @@MS_Trains I think the general idea is to bring back passenger rail to the mid north, and then extend to Port Lincoln. I can't see either happening in my life time, but that ain't gonna stop me from hassling a politician or two. 😁

      @@mnj640 Yes there was the Bluebirds, as well as the standard gauge Budd Railcars in the mid-north. I think the main problem today is we need to coordinate appeals to government, to make gradual improvements to our rail system. They are far too addicted to the votes they think a road project brings. Yes we need better roads, but one cost effective way to achieve that is with more efficient rail.

    Just a small correction, the ENH/ENHA wagons weren't introduced to the Eyre Peninsula till 1978. They were originally built in 1966 for the North Australian Railway, and made redundant there after it was closed

      Train is almost never idle. Operates 24/7 expect when the locomotives refuel, crew change and loading (Which happens on the private mine site). Even during unloading the train moves a slow speed.

    Original Commonwealth Railways NJ class 1971 build and rare. Tough locos.

      It's the Kevin Mine at Lake MacDonnell. It's owned by Gypsum Resources Australia (GRA) and is closed off to the public. 32° 2′ 34.23″ S, 133° 0′ 4.39″ E

    whats the grade on that bit at the start?

      I haven't been able to find a gradient chart, but It's the steepest on the line, and I've been told 1 in 120, so it's not massive but decent for these old girls to handle with a load.
