I still and will always ship Derek+Meredith they will always be my favorite couple for so many reasons.. Derek was and will always be Meredith's soul mate an her epic love , both of them are why I started watching the show since the first episode of greys anatomy. ik Derek is sadly gone but it still hurts bc he and Meredith were so post to die old together .. but if Meredith should be with anyone I think Alex should be the one in my opinion.

Yeah, Derek and Mer obv were the golden ship but I don't see Meredith ending up with a new guy. I see her raising her kids with someone who is already present in their lives, in her life, that is already her family. Alex is integral to Mer's life. If they don't end up together I'm at a loss.
Riggs is like a rebound. Mer sleeping with him was because she needed to release some of the pain she felt thinking about Derek that day. It wasn't real.

I never thought of them that way until recently. I decided to rewatch the entire series on Netflix, taking Derek out of the equation and it's Alex. The chemistry is there. He chose Meredith over leaving for his new job after the airport scene. I loved Derek but rewatching he always chose himself until the final couple of episodes. Alex always chooses Meredith. He puts her first. Also, anybody else at this point is going to feel wrong. Alex feels right. Even when Meredith had her dream alternate universe she was engaged to Alex. They broke up in her dream because he hurt her, not because she didn't love him. She dreamed it, so feelings have to be there. Just rewatch non shippers and you will be blown away by what had the potential to be epic. Not the sizzling relationship with her mcdreamy, but something more, deeper, real

Agreed. I‘m only at the start of season 7 and I have always felt that Meredith and Alex have better chemistry than any of the actual couples. Seeing them together always warms my heart.

I adore these two. Even if it doesn't happen until the end of the series, I really couldn't imagine Alex ending up with anyone but Meredith, and vice versa. I was always a die-hard MerDer fan, but with Derek gone, I literally only watch for these two and the hope that they'll end up together in the end. I won't apologize for having the hope. :) Loved this video so much, you have no idea. Wonderful job. :) Please make more vids of these two so I can favorite them.

This vm brought tears in my eyes. Meredith deservs happiness in this world. Since Derek is dead, I do not see anyone but Alex, her best friend who is always there for her and the kids, loved her kids. I like Jo and Alex as a couple but I can't bear the pain in Mer's eyes.
I adore their friendship- when you look back on how they were from the very beginning, they really have both come so far- as individual characters and as a pair. Derek left some HUGE shoes to fill regarding his romance with Meredith, but Alex is probably the only guy I could see her moving on with, even if I prefer them as friends. Better him than some guy they bring in new, have them flirt for an episode or two and then BAM in love.

Meredith and Derek had most amazing life together. If Meredith fell in love with someone I would wanted her be with Alex. Right now when I'm watching greys or videos like that I have same feelings about Slexie. Slexie will always be my love but right now I have the same feelings for Merlex, when the last scene of 13x09 when Meredith called Alex for not going to prison. I felt like she didn't wanted to be alone and she needs Alex. And I think she might have feelings for him but not showing them. And in 13x01 when Alex was in jail and Mer came to him I really thought that they would kiss or something 😅.

This is a very, very well done video. And I say that even though I'm completely opposed to an Alex/Mere pairing. They have by far the best male-female friendship I've ever seen on television and turning that into a romance, even after all these years, corrupts it in my opinion. Plus, I've always thought of them as siblings and except for him half-heartedly hitting on her in like episode 5 or whatever, they've always acted that way. So me saying this is a good video? I must say. I have always been a true Meredith and Derek fan. Even before he died, I always thought that in some other universe without Derek, Alex would be a good fit for Meredith. I really really hope that Grey's is in it's twilight. Every show needs to end somewhere and I think it is time to start wrapping it up... with what is happening with the Callie/Arizona arc right now I just hope they are starting with the most frustrating/boring/nasty relationship to wrap up and then they will go through each and end with Meredith being HAPPY.
Such a brilliant show and I am honestly really liking the Alex/Meredith dynamic. It would mean so much more than inventing or bringing in some new guy with no history in Grey's for her to be with... and the only one around now who works IMO is Alex.

Not sure if you're all paying attention but this is happening, maybe not this season. Shonda wants it to be organic but she's making us more comfortable with Alex and Mer lots of little sweet scenes. I love Meredith & Alex but as FRIENDS. If the writers put them together I will literally loose my shit, because there's hardly any good friendships in the show anymore, everyone has sex or gets together or isn't friends anymore. Like honestly we don't need any more couples. I also think they would never work together, since they don't really have the romantic chemistry. (kind of like Izzie & George). I also find it so annoying that people ship them, when he's literally just the replacement Cristina for Meredith, like sorry but nobody was shipping Meredith & Cristina as anything more than bestfriends, just because he's a guy. oh my god.
The show has literally been all about couples, sex, etc. That's what the shows is! If you want a show that isn't about couples, go watch those, but greys has never been about anything else. It's literally the show form of Fifty Shades of Grey
Selseus I never said I didn't like the show or the couples/sex! I just said the show needs one good friendship (Alex & Meredith), without trying to pair them together or make them have sex, because that would completely mess up their relationship, just like George & Izzie.
i'm half and half. On one hand, I'll definitely struggle to see Meredith with ANYONE that isn't Derek- you can't devote 11 seasons to this big main pairing and then expect the fandom to accept it easily when you suddenly change that pairing.
And, like you said, I love Alex and Meredith as friends- the show does definitely center around romance, but it would be nice if Meredith didn't have some kind of romantic/sexual relationship (even just crushes from either end) with EVERY guy.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, I'd rather they didn't pair Meredith up with anybody else now, but if they do, I'd rather she end up with Alex in the long run than some random new character that she hates for an episode or two then falls inlove with.
