    I have to say this is PRECISELY what I was looking for. For a video that's 10 years old, it's spot on. Thank you!

    Hi, I used the stewmac 7/16" router bit but you can get by with a 1/4" router bit too. Once you silicon the rod in place, any play from the 1/4" bit will be taken up

    Awesome video, Displaying some very skilled hands. Your work shop is just superb I liked the fact your sharing a specialised area. DIY guys and girls each tool is highly dangerous all wood machinest and cabinet makers will testify to that. Great ideas to keep hands and fingers away from those high speed blades is the yellow handle grip pads, also the cautionary measures using stand offs and guides. The vertical roller sander is a neat idea. The spindle in my cabinet making experience is the most dangerous piece of equipment i've used even out doing a 5 foot band saw purchased by my Russian boss who only gets 2 drinks instead of 5 when he puts his hand up to order more drinks from the bar if you know what I mean. Just great to bring back some refined skills Regards Grant.

    I bandsaw then sand close to the line so my router does not have to take too much wood off , see my new Strat Neck build video , its explained in Part 1

    I've been researching on building a neck and the only thing that's really bugging me is getting the truss rod cavity routed. I've seen all over how people put a curve in the cavity using a special router jig. And in your video you just routed it flat across. I'd rather do it the way you did because it seems much easier than building a special jig to route the curve. Anyways I look forward you the finishing of the guitar. Can't wait to start my second build soon!!!

    Hi. I can't figure out how you transfered the Stephens cutaway you routed in the body, over to the plywood template for the neck? Maybe you just draw the outline on to the plywood directly from the Washburn MDF template? It looks difficult to get the angles right for a good fit and a centered neck at that point?

    Fletcher, what horsepower router are you using on that router table? I noticed that the bit you used to route the neck was quite long.

    Brilliant work ! Can I ask if there is a reason for using 2 pieces of wood for the body over using 1 piece ? Ive never made a gat before, wouldnt mind trying it but might be better to leave it to the craftsmen

      @FletcherHandcraftedGuitars  9 років тому

      +Eric Tricklebank Its hard to find mahogany wide enough for a 1 piece body here in Australia

      @EricTricklebank 9 років тому

      +Fletcher Handcrafted Guitars Thanks for that. i wasnt sure if there was less chance of bowing with 2 pieces instead of one. Im amazed at the strength of just glueing too. Keep up the great work.

    Hi Mr Fletcher, I would like to ask you about which side of the truss rod goes where on the truss rod channel? In this situation with a spoke nut truss rod, you placed the spoke nut on the upper side of the channel (that means the fretboard side),right? But I ve also seen in your strat build that you did the opposite with the truss rod without the spoke nut. So which should be the right way to place it? Thanks a lot!

    • @FletcherHandcraftedGuitars
      @FletcherHandcraftedGuitars  9 років тому

      mistos The truss rod can be mounted with either side facing up however the adjustments will be reversed

    Is there any particular reason why you allways use this type of truss rod? It's better or what? Thanx!

    • @FletcherHandcraftedGuitars
      @FletcherHandcraftedGuitars  8 років тому

      +durajistique Hi, Yes I like them because they can be adjusted from the heel without having to take the neck off. I do use other truss rods as well though ;-)

    hi,great videos,i was wondering ,with the stephens extended cutaway how do you get the neck angle ?I know with most bolt on necks you can just shim the neck ,thanks

    • @FletcherHandcraftedGuitars
      @FletcherHandcraftedGuitars  9 років тому

      Hi, its actually a flat neck pocket, there is no neck angle in there.

      Hi, I use 3M double sided tape www.stewmac.com/Materials_and_Supplies/Glues_and_Adhesives/Tapes_and_Adhesives/3M_Double-stick_Tape.html

      ***** Thanks man! I had an intention to make a Tele on this way, and saw some Makita hand router but was in same time afraid how to fix acrylic or plastic template against base of wood. Your clips are very intuitive, clear, so I could watch them whole day, but some of us must work too ;) Thanks again.

    Hi Fletcher. I'm in the process of making a neck drawing and I want to incorporate the same StewMac spoke wheel hotrod truss rod in it. Could you please give me the width of the spoke wheel nut - in millimeters? Thanks very much in advance !

    • @FletcherHandcraftedGuitars
      @FletcherHandcraftedGuitars  6 років тому +1

      Hi, the spoke nut is 12.5mm wide

    • @Steinstra-vj7wl
      @Steinstra-vj7wl 6 років тому

      Please excuse me, but I would like to know the width of the nut, not its diameter (diameter is mentioned on stewmacs website). Could it be 5 mm, 5.5 mm, 6 mm or 6.5 mm? Thanks !
