  • 8:20 PM - Fortunately no one home when fire broke out at 3445 W Thompson Rd. Multiple calls reported the fire to 911 as drivers on I465 had no trouble spotting the fully involved structure between the Kentucky Ave and Harding St exits.
#IFD firefighters arrived and had difficulty accessing quick water with the closest hydrant about 2 miles away. Tanker operations were established and additional tankers requested by command.
6 tankers in all with 3 from IFD, 1 from Hendricks County and 2 from Morgan County, each making several round trips between the fill site at Epler and Banta and the fire on Thompson Rd. 2 Units from Decatur Township FD assisted IFD as well.
Command ordered defensive operations only and no injuries reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The fire was marked under control at 9:42 PM with crews spending several more hours putting out hot spots.

What a shame they cant put the fire out by just standing there looking at the fire. When fires are in a rural area tankers should be deployed on the initial call.

My father built this home and the fireman did a beautiful job. I do believe that the city set the home on fire on purpose in order to force the residents to accept city water. They are currently on well water and have been forever. It will be a sinkhole within a decade due to American Aggregates blasting all these years. It would be a waste of tax dollars. The natives don't want city water. A fireman were incredibly brave. Incredibly brave! I HOPE they were not put in this senseless situation over politics.

@@SnacksFromScratch BS. The city isn't going to burn down a house to make you get water, that makes ZERO sense. You clearly don't know anything about geology, as blasting isn't going to cause sinkholes. I'm betting American aggregates has been there as long or longer than that house.

Zero effort by the fire department to actually save the house. SHAMEFUL! No reason tankers shouldn't have been their initially.

First off, you don't know that the house was already fully involved when they got there, meaning all the water in the world wouldn't do shit, the house is already a total loss. Secondly, if you can do better, go sign up and put your ass on the line.

@@Johnpork666 Rural area: Tankers (multiple) on the initial call. Happens all across the country routinely.
