Here’s the thing about predictions, nobody had FAU in final four, but they were, so if you don’t have upsets in your predictions, it’s all just a waste of time
@@Tendomcgoobin Exactly; plenty of "basic" bracket scoring systems don't reward picking upsets highly enough (just get 1 pt for picking a 1st round game, 2 for a 2nd, 3 or 4 for a 3rd round, etc.). In that case they're not paying you enough for correctly picking upsets in the early rounds (generally the St Peters and FAUs only win a few games) and it's far more important to just keep as many of the analytically strongest teams in your bracket for the later rounds as they're far more likely to make a deep run and specifically to win a National Championship (it's well known that almost all national champions are in the top x of a handful of statistics like adjusted defense, bpi, etc.). If on the other hand your scoring gives you big bonus points for correctly picking big upsets then sure, upsets are more valuable. If winner takes all and it's a big pool, sure it's more important to differentiate your pool from the others. But in most basic office pools, they use simple scoring methods and often don't reward upsets enough. You have to change your game theory to match the scoring system, which differs MASSIVELY in March Madness.
Yep but it also depends on a case by case basis how much turnover was there from last years team, is that 16 and 8/9 seeds a particularly bad matchup, are they under seeded, etc. In this particular case it seems awfully unlikely Stetson, FAU or Northwestern have the firepower to outlast Uconn.
@@jude5642 Iowas St has their number for sure and is a 2 seed as well. I know what you mean though. But every team in the tournament has the same issue as well.
Like every year picking 1's and 2's in Final 4. They will never learn!
They do that on every network. They dont wanna be like " hey, i think Mcneese St is going to the final 4" then look dumb if it doesnt happen

It depends on if your pool is winner-take-all and how many people there are in it. Sometimes it pays to be more boring.
i got Samford over kansas
mcneese over Zags

McNeese State has an SOS of 331 and best win was bottom dweller Michigan!
Doesn't anyone realize that every team that has won the national championship the previous year for the past ten years has lost second round

How about picking the team that was #1 for 85% of the season, Houston?

You need to see someone about that mental illness that you appear to be experiencing.
