A year ago, via this video, you guys introduced me to Drab Majesty, and a year later, I can say I’ve been cranking Deb Demure’s music non-stop for 365 days.
Thanks for the recommendations George! Usually I don't get interested in what people recommend on these "My Bag" vids (as interesting as they still are!) But Drab Majesy and Alcest IMMEDIATELY caught my attention. And I'm totally blown away by what I heard. Awesome stuff. Looking forward to more Deafheaven!
This was a great episode -- a lot of bands I hadn't heard of but that were presented so articulately and made me go listen. I'm totally with the Vauxhall call, too; "Speedway" is one of the all-time great album closers and a song I have spent many a vulnerable, unguarded moment nodding along to.
Y'all are awesome. This one video got me into all kinds of new music. I'm absolutely obsessed with Silver Mt. Zion now, shit is chilling as hell. Takes you to another world
Ive always been a huge metal fan as well as an Explosions in the sky fan so when I first heard this band I was fucking blown away. I also had the privilege to see them live as well. Cant wait to hear what they make next.
Lydia Deetz oh yeah. It's in my driver's License. My first name is hipster, middle name is Black, Last name is Metal. It's usually written as Hipster B. Metal. fucking dipshit. Also what kinda last name is Deetz, or Lydia. If that's your legal name, you must have gotten bullied and your parents hate you.
I have two different pressings of "The Demonstration" I love Drab Majesty. Saw YouthCode open for Refused and bought their "Commitment to Complications" record and met Sara that night. Bad ass band...
Assuming this was in the S.F. store since that's where they used to be based (Not sure if they still are), but my family was in there towards the end of May and LOVE the store!
I don't know these guys just like some other videos with artist I I never heard of. But it still interesting to find out other people's interest in music.
editor(s) of this series should win some award holy shit
Thanks!
Thanks Deafheaven for recommending Drab Majesty. I hadn't known about this band until now but now I'm completely hooked.
Should listen to she past away
Same:)
Great picks. That Silver Mt. Zion record is outstanding and devastating. That Minor Victories album is also hugely underrated. Kerry has great taste.
people are seriously sleeping on MV
Those two are in my top 50 of all time. minor victories is an album nobody knows fir some reason.
@@AnaSanchez-vd6rlyeah, right.
A metal band that listen to Johnny Marr. That's my kind of metal band.
One of the most creative, intricate yet fun guitarists I’ve ever heard
They’re barely metal
@@MyBeautifulDarkTwistedFantasy6 Holy based
“Metal”
Cope harder
And Silver Mt Zion..... 9
13 angels standing guard is such a beautiful song

Huge kudos to whoever edits these. You're doing a fantastic job.
Hey, thanks!
Despite having some disagreements with a few things, I can't describe how happy this video made me, especially seeing George pull out Kodama
How can you have disagreements with what they buy 😂
@@mattemery4081 some of his picks are just industrial garbage lol in my personal opinion.

Shout out for that Drab Majesty selection. Favorite for 2017 so far.
I've got Dot In The Sky on my car list almost since the record came out. Its just too good.
As a fan of The Smiths, and an owner of the Marr book, and now a big fan of Deafheaven.. this was a pretty cool video.
That Alcest record is fucking great
Their most mid album
with that Crowbar album these guys nailed it,great people
silver mt Zion is phenomenal. that album is beautiful
It's amazing I'm straight up addicted to it
It’s awesome that drab majesty would eventually open for them. Saw em on the first stop of their tour
As someone from South London, it hurt when he said Vauxhall.
Ikr? Vorhaul?
Yep!
If he wasn't holding a copy of the album, I'd have no idea what he was talking about haha!
What is the opening song of the video?
This was a great episode -- a lot of bands I hadn't heard of but that were presented so articulately and made me go listen. I'm totally with the Vauxhall call, too; "Speedway" is one of the all-time great album closers and a song I have spent many a vulnerable, unguarded moment nodding along to.
George got that drab majesty! Seen Drab open up for deafheaven just last night
so glad to see more and more people backing drab majesty
I WANT TO DREAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM
Pop
The song at the start is Luna, not dream house
@@mattemery4081 SUBUUURBBIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Saw you on another video. You’re the guy who George pulled up on stage right?
WITH YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
Drab Majesty is awesome! I'm glad to see the recognition.
love how he always plugs drab majesty xD
Y'all are awesome. This one video got me into all kinds of new music. I'm absolutely obsessed with Silver Mt. Zion now, shit is chilling as hell. Takes you to another world
Drab Majesty! Nice. Plus Alcest. Minor Victories. These guys just kept bringing up albums by some of my favorite artists right now.
Zion and GSYBE blew my mind 3 years ago and thats where i learned about them. Thanks, Deafheaven!
Deafheaven gets so much hate, and the only reasons I've heard of for why have been garbage fucking reasons. They're a great band. Great picks too.
Flamesinger599 or rather you just suck them off.
Swagsuke Uchiha what?
They are garbage, that is why. What happens when Black Metal is made for coffee shops.
They are blackgaze not bm, and they are really good at it
Flamesinger599 They're actually quite acclaimed.
As far as the Mind can see. this is the best "Whats in my Bag" selection ever.
I didn't know the dudes from Deafheaven had such good taste. The Demonstration is an amazing album front to back.
So glad kerry is looking clean and healthy now.
the guy on the left have such a good taste im blown away
This whole video sums up my personal taste in music. I will gladly be expanding my collection!
my life is complete when deaf heaven listen to mt zion i love it
I just saw deafheaven play with drab majesty in pheonix!!!
Different music and books and they seem like chill guys
They're :)
AHH I'm impressed by all of these picks! especially Drab Majesty and Mayhem
I remember when Crematory Stench would play shows all the time around the LA/OC area. It’s trippy to see one of the guys in Deafhaven rock their merch
Drab Majesty is AMAZING!!!
That ASMZ album is an underrated/appreciated classic. Truly other-worldy sounds, so intense and bleak and haunting
They are so wholesome 💕
I love that Silver Mt. Zion album, them and Do Make Say Think are still in heavy rotation.
Saw these guys play live at the echoplex, I fractured my nose at the show. Great performance 👏
I just discovered so much music bc of this vid
My favorite so far
I knew this was going to be a good episode.
George went from SS model to a short haired Jay from Jay and Silent Bob, loved all his picks
I was thinking he was looking like he was homeless. Then he mentioned he just got a new apartment, so maybe he was. :)
You guys have some fantastic music tastes. Thanks for introducing me to some new artists
Ive always been a huge metal fan as well as an Explosions in the sky fan so when I first heard this band I was fucking blown away. I also had the privilege to see them live as well. Cant wait to hear what they make next.
These guys know the difference between a font and a typeface. Immediate respect!
Love that Crowbar album!
I read Scar Tissue, it really is a great book.
That Drab Majesty album is absolutely killer.
Youth Code was a great surprise at a recent Code Orange show.
that Silver Mt Zion is such an insane choice, big props to Kerry
one of the better shows, cool to see what these guys are into, going to check out a couple of these things
Loved this, I wish Wesley Eisold would have an appearance. That'd be incredible!!
Man, so many good selections...only so much money.
39 By Design
I dont like their music, but damn, those were some awesome Picks. Austra, Drab Majesty, Youth Code, Crowbar,
GOD DAMN
Agreed man love all those bands
Grave Miasma is pretty good too.
i've been to a concert of them yesterday, and damn they're amazing
Glad I watched this. Drab Majesty is great, especially The Demonstration and Modern Mirror
Kerry lookin real doughy these days, he eatin good
yeah if you consider mcdonalds on tour good eating.
Betelgeuse... Betelgeuse... Betelgeuse!!!
Lydia Deetz oh yeah. It's in my driver's License. My first name is hipster, middle name is Black, Last name is Metal.

boy big
dude is fucking little now. hes been reading the comments :/
It’s crazy how much they’ve improved themselves over the two year period. They look like completely different people now.
oh my gosh ! thank you so much Amoeba !!!!
Thank you for watching!
Gotta say they have a really nice taste.
i literally just bought those youth code and drab majesty records yesterday! i thought i liked deafheaven before i knew they were hip to Dais!
They have pretty cool taste in music🖤
when are we getting varg on, boys
Lewe :) I hope he recommends The Greatest Story Never Told, Triumph of the Will, and probably something about paganism.
When he decides to leave rural France, which is never.
Lewe :) Fenriz would be a better choice.
Kodama is just mindblowingly awesome
@@barfyman-wn3id just because he plays coy about it doesn't mean he isn't
I've checked out almost every recommendation here and they all kick ass.
i didn't expect oasis or morrissey here.... otherwise very good pics!! I love deafheaven and I will definitely get into the stuff they recommended
Not enough people know about Drab Majesty. Love em.
Drab Majesty, hell yeah.
Damn, why didn't I know about Crowbar and A Silver Mt. Zion before?
All great picks!
Love that Austra record
I have two different pressings of "The Demonstration" I love Drab Majesty. Saw YouthCode open for Refused and bought their "Commitment to Complications" record and met Sara that night. Bad ass band...
Even though this is 2 years old. These guys blew my fuckin mind with their picks.
That Crematory Stench shirt
Great picks from a great band
Audibley said "oh fuck yeah!" when I saw this
nice picks
I giggled because I discovered Deafheaven through Drab Majesty.
1:44
It's the song called "For Wanda"
like how alcest and deafheaven shows their lastest records
Drab Majesty and Minor Victories seem very interesting.
George has such an eclectic taste.
It's my favorite Stoner Metal band,
Thank you!
george rom I was stoned first time actually listening to deafheaven. its obviously stoner music fuck what eny1 says.
keekz510 its blackgaze, not stoner metal, just because you can smoke to Deafheaven it doesn't instantly make it "stoner metal" as in the actual genre
limaniner34 never said it was stoner metal. its just obviously stoner music.
keekz510 if Deafheaven is "stoner music" then almost anything can be stoner music in some sort of way
limaniner34 music for stoners. made specifically for stoners
that anthony keidis book is really good I read it
best episode so far.
The guy on the right must be a really big fan of Manchester-based artists
Who isn't? So much good shit comes from Manchester
Nice profile pic
Mine is the best :(
Aren’t the Stone Roses out of Manchester too?
All good stuff
Assuming this was in the S.F. store since that's where they used to be based (Not sure if they still are), but my family was in there towards the end of May and LOVE the store!
They're based in LA now, I'd be willing to bet it's that location because it sounds like they're fresh off their most recent tour.
We did shoot in the LA store. It was fun to have them in.
Drab majesty!!
Awesome new album
Live in Leipzig. My fav live album and fav mayhem album. Rip dead 🤘🏻
Youth Code is sooooooooooooooooo good live! Also that Alcest album Kodama is insanely good.
whats the name of the song at 9:41?
Cool picks.
Seems like my tastes aligns more with George than Kerry. Great episode
Expected eclectic tastes courtesy of Deaf Heaven. a plethora of new romantic, shoegaze, electro-pop and surprisingly crowbar
I don't know these guys just like some other videos with artist I I never heard of. But it still interesting to find out other people's interest in music.
Great picks!
i Saw Grave Miasma on tour with Bölzer one year ago. Fuckin great band.
