You're absolutely correct about the inflated prices of Tanqueray 10, here in Ireland, Beefeater 24 is often on offer in supermarkets at €25 and I've bought it at €22. Tanqueray 10 is NEVER below $30 and as a result, I've only tried it once. Beefeater 24 would be my favourite followed my Standard Tanqueray and both with Schweppes tonic water, plain or Elderflower. Every once in a while, and if I feel a little fruity, I like a Bosford pink Gin with a plain tonic water. I'm a simple man Bobby, simple man with simple tastes....
Great review and spot on, Tanq 10 is double the price of the original Tanq in Aus at $90 and $45, yet Beef 24 is $59 compared to the original at $50. Beefeater wins the value stakes at least over here down under.

Fine review. I empathize. As we say, apples versus oranges. So it hinges on what flavor profile we want. As for cost, there's little difference here in my state in the USA; and 10 is available in a liter and thus available at an even lower per ounce (or ml) cost. I'd buy 24 by the liter if I could. In Texas, at least where i am, the beefeater 24 was literally like 2 dollars more than the the regular beefeater so I had to get it. Haven’t tried the tanqueray 10 yet but I’m interested because honestly I’m not a huge fan of the regular tanqueray and I would like to see how it compares.
I honestly don't blame you for declaring a tie between these two if money is not an issue. But since you had trouble deciding maybe you could do a follow up video talking about which ones go best with certain ingredients. One may be better than the other depending on context. Which one would be better in a Martini for example. Having them neat is one thing. Having them in a cocktail is another.
I bought my fourth bottle of Tanqueray 10 today because it was "cheap". I haven't tried the T10 yet. The cheapest I can find both today in Australia is Tanqueray $41.95 and Tanqueray 10 $64.95. Another chain owned by the same supermarket group is asking a whopping $92 for the T10. It really does pay to shop around.

Regular Tanqueray with a slice of lime is very, very nice. A very similar experience to Tanqueray No. 10, if you ask me. It is worth the money, though.

Is Beefeater 24 being discontinued? I just had a look on the website for the biggest Aus bottle shop to see the price difference between that and the regular Beefeater, and the 24 is listed as clearance
Started my Gin & Tonic journey a few months ago with the typical Gordon's London Dry, Bombay Sapphire, Beefeater and Tanqueray route. Bought the Beefeater 24 and Tanqueray Ten today to do a head-to-head comparison. In short, I was blown away by the smell and taste of the Beefeater 24 and found the Tanqueray Ten a bit disappointing (and tasting like liquorice). Clear winner for me is the Beefeater 24!

I found a pretty good deal of beefeater 24 for £23 and there's an 15% discount plus free shipping at the moment from the airport dutyfree online stores (God have mercy on them), guess which one I'm going to get? 😆

Cutesy shaped blue or green bottles, a list of ingredients I would never thing to put in a libation, higher prices to make you thing it is superior. Tried many, I go back to Beafeaters. I'll continue to try others and perhaps there is something out there that is remarkable. I am not opposed to another if it isn't simply a marketing project.
Here are my thoughts ... because of the huge taste Campari has in this drink, I tend to go with a lesser expensive gin, be it a Beefeater, Tanquery, Bombay Dry, etc. I've tried it with some of my more expensive gins, but the flavor gets lost to the Campari.
@@beckmn1 I don't disagree... but ultimately this drink is a balancing act. I don't think it's credited with how tough it is to achieve a true balance. Against the Campari, both the vermouth and gin used will play a factor. I'm going off of using bolder vermouths such as Carpano Antica. For example, Bombay Sapphire is not good for this drink, IMO. The metallic and artificial qualities of that gin come through even more when paired with the drink's bitterness. Another, Hendrick's just gets completely lost... too subtle. Gins like Tanqueray and Beefeater stand up well. I haven't had it with the 10 or 24. Those are probably just $10 more for me to get, and definitely worth it if it results in a superior drink. Cheers!
In Romania, original Tanqueray costs as much as Beefeater 24 and Larios 12. Tanqueray 10 is double the price. I do recognize the quality of the 10, but there's no reason to buy a Tanqueray 10 too often when I can have both a 12 and a 24 for the same price. I guess I have to congratulate Pernod Ricard and Beam Suntory for keeping a relatively equal gin price around the EU and not congratulate Diageo for being greedy bastards.

In fact, I think regular Beefeater is better than the "top shelf" version Beefeater 24 is more in line with something like a Roku in terms of "pizzaz" - good but not outstanding. I'd take Brokers or Sipsmith over Beefeater 24 any day of the week.

What I find strange about Beefeater is this strong alcohol bite to the taste, regardless of how dilluted. With Monkey47, for example, I don't taste that at all. If you want far east flavors, Japanese gins are fantastic. Gotta try Benizakura9148. Anyway, I like it, but I don't orgasm like you do. 😂
Tanqueray 10 is mindblowing. Here in Brasil, Ten costs more than double the price of the standard version.

In Argentina, the Ten it's almost double the price of the 24. It's not THAT much better, but it is a lot better IMO.
