On May 24, 2021, Mali’s Vice President Assimi Goïta captured President Bah N’daw, Prime Minister Moctar Ouane, and Defense Minister Souleymane Doucouré to record the country’s second coup in less than a year.
On September 30, 2022, Captain Ibrahim Traoré toppled Interim President Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba's government, making it Burkina Faso's second coup in only 8 months.
Reports on July 26, 2023, revealed that Niger’s president, Mohammed Bazoum, has been ousted in a military coup led by the country’s presidential guard, headed by Presidential Guard commander General Abdourahmane Chiani.
