Fun fact 1: line 8 and 9 on the common route under the grands boulevards don't share tracks for several stations. Line 8 and 9 have separate tracks stacked on top of each other, with line 8 on the upper level and line 9 below. Fun fact 2: the original name Montmartre and later Rue Montmartre was altered in 1998 as many tourists wrongly believed it was close to the Montmatre hill and Sacré Coeur basilica. In fact the station is situated at the Montmartre boulevard but the station itself is several kilometers away from Montmartre itself. Fun fact 3: stations of line 8 were the first to be designed at 105 metres as of the 1930s. But as only the stations going to the east to Créteil after the 1930s were at 105m and the older 1900s stations to the western end at Balard were never extended from 75 to 105 the short trains remain.
The fact that line 8 and line 9 run on top of each other at these stations meant for me that I needed a lot more time for my walkthroughs and had to climb a lot more stairs...🥴😅 I also expected there to be fewer passengers than usual because France's UEFA Euro 2024 round of 16 match against Belgium was taking place at the same time. But there wasn't any noticeable difference. Times have changed, it seems...
