I was shocked when I saw there was a Babble On podcast available for download this morning that was recorded on Saturday. All weekend I and a friend had wondered how Ralph would handle this on next week's podcast, thinking Adam West had passed away after the show was recorded. For it to have happened the day of the podcast and have Ralph continue with it really had to be tough.
Watching Ralph reminded me of my father's unexpected passing the day before the annual family gathering he enjoyed the most and the first for my baby daughter. We held the gathering anyway, knowing how much he loved it, but I could only make it so far before I had to go to the bathroom and completely lose all composure. Watching Ralph's pain brought it all back and brought tears to my eyes.
Remember those who have loved and you will never truly lose them.

Kevin Smith grabbing his shoulder when Ralph first started breaking up was really touching. It really reminded me of when my best friend committed suicide and his father hugged me at the funeral when we were both breaking down. Little signs of compassion and empathy can literally make a world of difference when you're grieving.

This is great, very emotional. Mr West was a great guy. In the early 80's I was at Autorama in Detroit. My dad had a car in display and I basically wandered Cobo Hall. Adam West and Burt Ward were doing photo's dressed on costume with the batmobile. I loved the Batman show, every day at 3pm after school. I watched them for hours as I sat on the side of the stage. At the end of the day, Burt Ward asked me if I was going to take a picture or just sit there. He was not been mean, just in a joking way. It told him I had no money, so he asked Bat Man to come over and see if it was okay to take a picture. I was in awe, Bat Man was there talking to me and took a picture with me. You made a young boy's dream come true Mr West(and Ward). RIP

Back in 1974 at age 4, I had the pleasure of meeting Adam West at an Auto show. As a little kid Batman was my idol. I didn't know as a kid that it was supposed to be a funny show, that was Batman to me. He was Batman. That day, I got a head shot signed to me by Adam West, it was my most my most prized possession. It is to this day in a scrap book. Adam West made me want to be a superhero in life. He was kind and gracious. I got meet my childhood hero. This podcast took me back to that moment. RIP to my favorite Batman.

Growing up in the 60's and 70's made Adam's passing a rare gut punch. He was that surrogate father figure in the afternoon that reinforced everything my natural dad was trying to tell me. It resonated with that man behind the mask. I can say without question, this eulogy was never more fitting and appropriate than to come from Ralph and Kevin who have ALWAYS proudly waved the flag of our fallen hero. Thanks for illustrating how real this loss was for all of us who grew up with this incredible treasure of a man. The Heavens are a safer place to be today and they are certainly smiling brighter. I look forward to the day when I can see him again along with my natural dad. What a reunion that will be.

He was and still is my favorite hero largely because of Adam West! I'm so sad to see him leave us but it is a blessing to know that he is watching over us like a Batman signal in the sky. Thank you so much for all these kind words for the most under rated true super hero's in our life time. He created the Batman that we grew to know as Batman and anyone else would have fallen short. It's all so true what you have said this day. When I met Adam in the early 80's, I was so frozen that I couldn't find the wits to ask him so many questions that I wanted to ask him and he was so kind and so humble to me. My 6 your old son and I were to meet him at a sceduled appearance in Connecticut this August and I would then tell him how much he meant to me.

A touching eulogy. As a kid I watched the Batman re-runs in the late 80s-early 90s, he was the ultimate hero to watch, he may not be as dark, gritty and cool looking like the great Keaton but you can't deny he gave a big and important spark in pop culture. R.I.P. Adam.

True story, My daughter and I met Adam West and Burt Ward last year at the Awesome Con in D.C. We dressed up as Barf and Dark Helmet from the Spaceballs movie. When we walked in Burt said "OMG its the Spaceballs!" Adams West looked at us and said "I would run right now if I could!" His sense of humor was soooo impressive, he was cutting one liners the entire time when meeting the fans. Great man and he will be sorely missed!

I went through 3 stages of Adam West's Batman.
The first was when I was a little kid and we watched Batman on Saturday mornings, and afterwards "climbed" up the corridor and played fights, shouting "Kapow" and "Whap". He was a hero.
Then when I grew older I hated the camp nature of the show and began to resent it, but still loved West's presence and starure.
Then when I was an adult I happened to watch an episode of the show after many years, and suddenly I got the joke. It was genius comedy, and Adam West's delivery and potrayal was full of subtlety and masterful timing, irony and satire. It was an eye opener of how unique his performance was.

For me growing up in the 2000's I used to watch many cartoons religiously one of which featured Adam, Fairly odd parents, he was CatMan for me and always will. But not only in my early childhood was he in my life, but also as a tween/teenager when I finally had an interest in Family Guy, where I always wished to have Mayor Adam West as my own mayor. Great Tribute From Ralph and Kevin. I grew up in a similar situation to Kevin with a few channels and re-runs for the 60's show and it was a treasure to see/hear Adam back again when he was on Family Guy. RIP Adam West.

That was fucking beautiful man. Almost started crying while listening to the audio version, and i havent seen a single episode of the original Batman show. One can only wish to have a friendship like yours Ralph. R.I.P. Adam West.

This is the most touching thing I've seen yet - from a man who truly loved Adam West not just as a performer, but as a good friend. Such a good friend that he appears to be largely the one responsible for getting the ball rolling on getting Adam West his own star on Hollywood Blvd. Can you imagine Adam West not having that star? I was GOBSMACKED that it almost didn't happen! UNACCEPTABLE indeed!
I'm very VERY glad Adam West got to have fun - and work - into his later years. (His turn as the Mayor of Quahog in Family Guy is side-splittingly hilarious!)
And his good-nature and ability to be a good sport about everything related to the Bat franchise just makes him all the sweeter a treasure I'm sad we no longer have.
    Rest in Peace, Bright Knight.
And THANK YOU Ralph Garman for being such a good friend to him. I'm sure YOU made HIS life better as much as he made yours better.

I like to feel that i have a strong sense of right and wrong, part of that is due to my parents but a big part of that is my influence from superheros, and Adam West was my first introduction to that wonderful world. I loved that show as a kid and feel honored to have met him on a couple of occasions,R.I.P. good sir.

Adam West's death was a tough one. He touched and influenced so many young lives during the "Batman" run...no one could have done it better. This was a GOOD man...

I didn't grow up on West's Batman, it was before my time. But I will always have the utmost respect for Adam for bringing Batman out of the pages of comic books and onto the screen for the first time. If not for him, we might not have gotten Batman: The Animated Series, or we might not have gotten it when we did, and that's the Batman I did grow up on. Interestingly, the episode that included Adam West, Beware the Grey Ghost, has always been my favorite. Like Ralph and Kevin, Batman was the single biggest influence for young me of who and how to be, what to and not to do. So thank you Adam. Thank you for what you did for countless people. And I include myself among them. Rest in peace, Caped Crusader.

This was going to be a hard show whether it was the same day or a week later. I have nothing but respect for Ralph & Kevin in how they paid tribute to Adam West and sharing how important this man was to them as well as to millions of other fans around the world. Amazing job guys but I dare anyone to not shed a tear either.

That was beautiful, and a fitting tribute to a cool human being. A man who gloried in the silliness of being Peter Griffin's mayor, of being "Adam WE" when his desk nameplate got damaged. You know this was a guy who liked to laugh. And I'm old enough to have grown up with the TV show in its first iteration on TV. RIP a lovely dude of whom NOBODY said a bad word.
