The Red Green Show: Classic Comedy Television That Continues To Charm Distributed exclusively by space-mob.com
2:06. I'll bet you there were a lot of Iowans in the studio audience judging by the enthusiastic response.
Both of my parents were from Iowa. I love this episode. (I feel like the state was picked as a result of a PBS pledge drive...)
Four as a matter of face. I still remember the Red Green Live pledge drives every March, and every year, Iowa Public Television came in first to their target and first overall. We in Illinois did fairly well ourselves, but none could beat IPTV, though Salt Lake came close in '99.
@@shrillbert Actually in '97 Red Green (Steve Smith) came to Iowa as part of the pledge drive.
@@MpaYn I remember when that happened with the trophy and everything.
I wish we had gotten to see more of the funeral director. That guy was hilarious.
Such a funny show. Classic comedy for 16 years!
A middle-aged man in a plaid shirt using hockey equipment (hockey-tape included) to go fishing, you can't get more Canadian than that. It's pretty much how we adapt up here.
In the south they use their hands and arms to catch catfish, and we Americans make fun of Canadians
When it comes down to it there really isn't that much of a difference between us and the Canadians except for the different flags lol.@@markceciljr1354
The last time Iowa was mentioned was when Red and Harold were covered in creamed corn after (another explosion); Harold had a righteous punchline!
What did he say? It looked like Iowa exploded?
I think that was when they painted some silos to look like crayons.
Great show makes me smile
P.s. met steve back in about 2000. Really cool guy. He autographed my duct taped up nerf football. Red green. It was awsome.
I am from Iowa so this would probably be my favorite red green episode.
I'm from Iowa too.
The mortician was hilarious!!!
“There was an anger issue between me and the border the guard: I had one and he didn’t. And that lead to an authority issue where he had some and I didn’t.”
😆
when your state gets named droped in the best show ever
We're called Iowans.
Iowans are the best people in the world, my mother, aunts and uncles are from IOWA. RED GREEN RULES!!!!!!!!!!
Love the funeral guy 😂
"These are Americans, they pay nooo attention at all to their leaders." :)
It would've really been interesting if they had twinned with New York City.
Yeah, it would. But Iowa wasn't chosen randomly, it was Iowa Public Television's continued devotion to the series as seen in beating every other PBS station in the Red Green Live pledge breaks every single year. Always the first to reach their target, always the highest above their target even against their bitter rivals, KUED of Salt Lake City. I think, in fact, that this was shown on IPTV even before it was shown on CBC.
@@shrillbert Wow! That's really interesting. Thanks for the info. At least the program found a way to thank them. Way to go, Iowa!
I remember living in Des Moines when they announced that Iowa pledged the most money. Makes me wish I had pledged. But I didn't have much cash.
Good old Gump Worsley. Rangers and Canadians # 1.
This was one of the best shows ever!!!!!! Of course I'm an Iowan and live in Ames, Iowa!!!!! 🤣😁😊
George Buza in grey SWEATpants...YES!
Holy shit I live in Iowa!
Lol
They're Americans.. They don't pay attention to their leaders.
Jason Williams As an American, I laughed way too hard for that
Lucky Trudeau wasnt PM when this episode was made:^)
When you look at American 'leaders', especially today, is it any wonder we don't?
@@TheTsar1918 who is the "we" you refer to comrade?
the leftists idiots? they only listen to failed ideologies and instructions on which bathroom to use..
I really like creamed corn
😃
RANGER GORN FOR PM
A man who's catchphrase is "keep your stick on the ice" seldom uses his hockey equipment. Let that sink in.
Iowa and possum lake is twinned and Red Green makes a way to remove the stumps using small Cessna ✈ and Red also makes
fishing gear out of hockey gears while ranger gord makes an abduction video
If that helium thing actually worked, the helium would be able to lift its own storage tank.
The idea is that the small plane would catch the rope and pull it out.
I think the idea was that small planes would catch the rope and pull out the stump!
Reminds me of Tim the tool man Taylor
Im from Iowa. We coukd do without democrats for a while.
Why are half these jokes just "women bad"?
They're not! I'm a woman and I love this show! (& I'm not the only one!) He jokes a lot about marriage (if you've been in one for any length of time you know you HAVE to have a sense of humor about it or you'll never last and both Red and the guy who plays him were married for decades!) He also makes a lot of jokes about the things men do that women have to put up with. What are you 1 of these ridiculous people that goes around just looking for something to be offended about?!
At 11 minutes talks about kids and parents, when you have kids, you come to realize that everything your dad ever yelled at you about when you were growing up, dad was right.
I actually do love the Ranger Gord cartoons.
They're my favorite too!
My favourite part is that in real life the cartoon critters are actually right even if they are wrong in the cartoon lol
the cartoons are great and educational
It's hard to find a show that can make you laugh practically the whole time these days
best show for sure
If you notice, the Fake Red at the end of the episode is wearing Harold's old suspenders. Red's are green and red crossed at the back, while Harold's always had three red and one green.
FWIW Red wore both depends on the episode. some are crossed red and green in the back and some are Y shaped with a red band coming off the right side.
I think part of the reason this episode was made was because PBS viewers in Iowa LOVE the show.
Wisconsin and Minnesota do too
@@GredelsRage WTVS in Detroit was actually the first PBS station to air Red Green, so people in Michigan love it too.
Indiana does too
Red came up with a surprisingly accurate depiction of how Canadians fish.
Yes Iowa would fit right in. They are also full of corn. LOL :o)
"THIS" is the best Red Green episode ever.
This episode had to be Steve Smith's favorite. Among many.
Wow, Winston really doesn't like that mortician guy. xD
20:45 Mr. Green Red?? 😂
This episode was a big shoutout to Iowa since Iowa PBS was the biggest supporter of the Red Green Show here in America.
I agree that Ranger Gords cartoons should be their own show!!! I would watch them :)
I really like Red Green And Harold
Hit the road jack. Between the regular funeral music
This was on Iowa Public Television every Saturday afternoon and evening many years ago, and fans loved it (myself included), and STILL do to this very day. No wonder this show has retained its popularity over the years.
During the national pledge drives for RGS, Iowa Public Television was always the first to reach the goal, and usually surpassing it by five or six times by the end of the pledge drive.
PBS carried the show everywhere 🤨
What part of Iowa did/do you live in. The Des Moines IPTV, showed The Red Green Show on Fridays before Sci-Fi Friday night.
I grew up in the Milo area, which is roughly an hour's drive from Des Moines.
Far and away the best ending in the history of The Red Green Show!
I used less rope so I could hear my husband complain as he floated away. ;)
... Are there any other inveterate watchers of The Red Green Show that feel a vague twinge of melancholy when you hit that episode that speaks to you as closer-to-the-end-than-the-beginning? 🤔🇨🇦😌
I would be at peace forever if I lived at possum lodge
A lot more than fifty people watch this show Red!
Gord has waaaaay too much free time
17:13 'FIN' That's all the French that The Red Green Show has time for.
This was the 200th episode of The Red Green Show.👍
dwight is a great character...
Best episode ever!!! Lmbo!!!!!
I actually got to meet the guy who plays Douglas Hudson. We actually work in the same postal plant in Iowa.
I started watching this when I moved from home in the mid 90s. Fell in love.
I’m from Iowa, I’ve lived here my whole life and we are “Iowans”
I love all seasons of red green (1997-2000 is awesome) but I love the later seasons for being able to show wackier stuff and make dirtier jokes. I wish Red and the guys had the same control over the show when they were younger
Iowan here. I totally saw it coming in the buildup for the twinning bit
14:15 Oh, Lord! It's Ranger Gord!
hey wait wait wait. Just doesn't want them to leave lol
I would like to see all reruns these the were the best.
I'm so glad this popped into my feed. This show was a staple of my childhood. Growing up in West Virginia, I knew people that used some of his handyman techniques. It was entertaining at the very worst.
So funny. I should have been there!!!!
at the end , the doppelganger segment was a bit spooky, i must say
I was a part of the Iowa lodge only a year later but still one of my favorite episodes I am a man I can change if I have to
I donated a bunch of money to Iowa Public Television
Live the look-a-likes at the end! 😂👍
Mike's stand-in, Mark, isn't nearly as slick as he. It would have taken longer for Red to notice his wallet missing. He wouldn't have caught it in Mike's hand. It seems nonsense that Mike got caught so many times, except that he's probably the only criminal in the area so he's the only suspect of every crime.
We call them "Iowegians"
Seeing the stars THROUGH the moon 🌙 seems sensical
Stay clear of that clean up crew, and stay farther away from those that send you there. Remember, a doctors job is " to find something wrong with you". Keep your stick on the ice and always get second and third opinions, then study and make your own decisions. No one has as much to lose as you do.
Doctors don't know everything they mostly take a guess and run with it.
The eulogy was hysterical
Iowa, the best state for Red Green.
Love this episode
alright,,,dwight is back ....love his laid back attitude
fantastic american replicas of the cast
They needed a Ranger Gord clone.
Ranger Ford?
😂The only thing missing was a Harold look-alike
Gerald?
I'm from Iowa. How do I join the lodge?
You go to red green.com
Which ep includes funeral of a snake ?

They say "out & about" kinda weird.
Canadians pronounce "garage" weird.
Go Iowa! where our state rock is none other than the boring geode!
19:46, mark must be from waterloo.
Was Harold in those Stargate episodes and the like at this time ?
emo yes he played felger and made the avenger virus that baal hacked to wreck the gate system
#1. Ed Frid
close #2. Iowa Red Green
😆
Iowans are Hawkeyes.
Some are, some are panthers, some are cyclones.
Buckeyes ?
If you don't know what to say, I recommend our standard send- off
Iowa Public TV brought four busses of fans to Toronto for the recording of the Twinning show and I was part of that group. The recording took place on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend in 2000. The "Lodge" is on the 10th floor of the CBC tower. They recorded the show before two different audiences then stitched the best reactions into a single episode. The pre-taped intro and various outdoor segments are played on monitors in the studio and the live audience reactions are recorded and added to the show.
They needed seats for the second taping's audience so I got to watch that taping from the studio's control room and that was pretty hectic. An interesting weekend bracketed by two long bus rides.
That's awesome, do they film everything in order or do they do stuff like the Word Game after or before the main plot segments? I've heard most of the campfire song clips were all done in one day for the first few seasons
@@smokesletsgo2374The show is recorded in pretty much the same order they are presented during the episode. It starts with the welcome scene that sets the topic of the episode. When that is done, a pre-recorded outdoor segment is played on the monitors to capture a live audience reaction. While the video plays, the crew are prepping the lodge set as needed for the next scene. The word game or other in-studio scenes then alternate with the pre-recorded bits until they get to the lodge meeting closing scene.
Most of the the outdoor scenes are recorded in advance on the same day to get as many bits in the can and ready as possible while the cast and crew are in the same place at the same time.
When a episode is prepped to air, the pre-recorded segments from several different taping sessions are inserted into the studio segments as needed to full out the show's allotted length. The pre-recorded outdoor segments we viewed and reacted to during the recording of episode 200 were actually used in other episodes.
If only it was Minnesota.
6:00
13:53-13:57 I don't know weather to laugh or be offended
I miss Iowa. Hooe someday to return.
Being born and raised in iowa I'm ok with this.
Live in iowa ❤ RED GREEN grew up watching that and MONTY PYTHONS FLYING CIRCUS the only time PBS had real viewer numbers not boredom watchers.
Created by Steve Smith and Rick Green 👍 Both of whom appeared in Adventures With Bill 🤣
That was disturbing lol.
The state of Utah is the best
I know Patrick McKenna was gone trying is luck in Holly and Toronto wood . But you'd think they'd have enough material instead of those too long Ranger Gord "educational films" too fill in time .
Red's a strange character. Virtually all men hate some men, but its a very strange man that hates all men, and he runs a cult out in the Canadian wilderness composed entirely of other weirdo men who agree with him.
Is that some kind of joke I'm not getting? It doesn't make any sense, He "hates ALL other men" but also "has a cult" full of "other weirdo men who agree with him"? Where do you get the strange idea he hates anyone else to start with??
