I like the polished look of the module but definitely like the smaller receivers on Happymodel better. Really happy to see multiple companies getting into ELRS though. Who will be next?
There are three, I suspect we might see one more, but I think other companies will "partner" with one of the elrs companies to include rx on bnf.
Apart from the performance, love how affordable this system is.
I recently found out that my previous and current employer was not providing proper protection to us when cutting and drilling into concrete and hardy board and it scares the crap out of me of what lies ahead for me and my family and weather or not I will pass away from this horrible disease silicosis that I had never heard of there are no treatments, cures or hope.
Its really hard not to go out and buy Express lrs right now because of the performance and price but I'm giving a little time for all the kinks to be worked out and fingers crossed the price doesn't shoot up like everything else.
We have seen HM switch chips to keep the price down. As long as there are equal cheaper substitutes, hopefully the price doesn't rocket up.

I wouldn't be surprised to see updating over the air at some point, no more need for a computer if they can work that in.

No this doesn't work for crossfire, it is for Expresslrs which is a different protocol.
Please stop calling these antennas ceramic. They are plastic and melt very easily.
Doesn't really matter. Other antennas tested are actually ceramic, it's now just a generic term for a SMD antennas.

Can the elrs receivers work with any flight controller which supports CRSF? Would it work with the BetaFPV Toothpick 20A F4 2-4S AIO Flight Controller V4?

Guys in the elrs discord where saying the Rx is bigger because it does more stuff power wise with telemetry and range. Someone will correct me with actual facts I'm sure. I am really excited about the tx so I can use it on my tango. These elrs guys are awesome.

@@NickBurnsFPV I read the telemetry output from the RX is 100 mW for the betafpv versus 10 mW for happymodel.
Correct. There is a RF amp for greater TLM output. Great for the LR flyers.

Thanks for the video! I'm super excited about eLRS. As soon as my last two FrSKy SPI boards die, I'm going to make the dive into eLRS. Albert Kim mentioned in his video the other day that he was having trouble getting the Beta TX module to work with the HappyModel receivers. Have you tried this yet? I'm particularly interested in the Beta module because it looks like it fits the X-Lite much better than HappyModel's version, but I definitely want to use HM's receivers. I'm sure hoping we see eLRS Mobula and Meteor BNF's later this year. Also hoping that maybe Jumper will release a new line of radios with eLRS baked-in (5-in-1).
I haven't tried yet. I think we would need to ensure tx and rx are on the same version of ELRS. I suspect the betafpv tx might have some older firmware on it. I can't imagine why it wouldn't work. I need to get some 2.4ghz betafpv stuff. I don't have much 900mhz stuff to test and I don't think testing that would be nearly as useful as the 2.4ghz. :)

@@NickBurnsFPV I've heard that frsky "blocks" the crossfire module from working on xlite, I'm worried because ERLS also uses a system like Crossfire. this makes me think twice about buying Xlite
@@irwan_rc2416 Hmm. I think the qx7 needed a mod to work with crossfire seamlessly. Other than that I haven't heard of that.
I'm confused you put the 2.4 antenna on a915mhz receiver and used a 915 antenna on your radio. Would you fly that antenna/receiver combo
no, everything is 915mhz in this video except the happymodel ep2 receiver. The bigger antenna has a 2.4ghz version, but its smaller.
Ok I understand. The blue colour indicates use on 915mhz. I'll have to get me some of those

Crossfire, Ghost, ExpressLRS is Frsky gonna fall away and die?
They won't likely fall away, but the use of their receivers won't have the numbers they used to.
This might be the next thing i get,, i'll wait for the long term use reviews, and the comparisons. I am still running frsky. My X lite is a pre- production version that is still on the pre 2.0 software accst , I ordered the ev200D at the same time, those are dead.I am just starting to use Xfire(older stuff) on my X lite but the modual, and adapter make it hard to pack away all together.

I would assume if the ELRS firmware is the same and binding phrase. The happy model 2.4g stuff should work with Betafpv ELRS 2.4g stuff? Given the chip set is the same? The Betafpv ELRS equipment is supposed to push more wattage and more telemetry options? Idk if I would buy this or not. I already have the HappyModel 2.4g module & five receivers. Plus a custom built DIY tx module from Tweetfpv. And that gear probably gos further than I ever want to go...lol. Of course curiosity killed the cat! And it looks like something I like to tinker with..lol. Let us know Nick when you test it ..see if anything works better than the HM stuff. I have had some performance differences between the EP1 receivers. Where one reciever would have stronger telemetry than another receiver running the same antenna same firmware.
Yes, that is the premise, any elrs tx/rx hardware should work together, as long as they have similar options set when the firmware is applied. I do suspect we will see over the air updates added to elrs. That seems to be one feature other rx have that elrs doesn't.
@@NickBurnsFPV I think once they implemented the over the air updates. It will be completed. At that stage it will be hard to justify using any other protocol. Especially at the price point it's at.

The tx module will not. Designed for tango II and x-lite.
With jumper you should use the happymodel version, because it has the power mod. The t-lite only supports ~25mw on the external ports without the power mod. With frsky x-lite the betafpv is currently the only way.
Hope the new rules with cbo's dont kill everything. They have left the wording very open to their own manipulation.

I think sub 250 is still open to more flight spaces other than cbos.
the beta fpv receiver is bigger because it has a rf amplifier. Which means you will get better telemetry range on betafpv receiver than on the happymodel. so its a trade off between weight and telemetry distance
I suppose having the telemetry data when way out could be useful. Me not so useful. :)
@@NickBurnsFPV yeah same for me , but it's something that's nice to know. the hp receivers have like 14mw I think while the beta have 100mw.

No. The antenna in the tx works for heat dissipation and grounding
Great video Nick, I was recently on their website checking out the ELRS products, I’m a little confused though, on their site it was mentioning that it’s 2.4, but in the start of your video you briefly mentioned the 900MHz. Are there two separate modules, or am I missing something. I’d like to switch over from CRSF but now I’m confused. Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Nick.
They sent me 900mhz, but 2.4ghz is more popular. yes, the different mhz are different hardware products.
@Nick burns, I would like to know that, are you using NIGHTLIES OS on your X-LITE PRO to talk with ELRS via CRSF protocol?
by far my research, X-LITE PRO failed to provide CRSF support on there native firmware. Hence I would like to know how you actually made your radio (X-LITE PRO) to talk with ELRS module.
I did update opentx to 2.3.14 which is not a nightly. I did initially run a nightly on my jumper t-lite, but only to get the 500khz packet rate. I have not seen a version of opentx not support crossfire, but we do have to download the lua script for the expresslrs module, we also need to select external for the radio in the model file. Are you not seeing crsf as an option after selecting the external radio? We do have to also disable the internal radio in the model file.

Also do you face any downside with BETAFPV ELRS module, as many talks about its hardware is crappy.

@@caseynewton3251 There is an issue with the betafpv module and flashing over wifi. My understanding are that is only effects the first batch. Betafpv doesn't have a good track record recently. I have used my betafpv module with the x-lite, but HappyModel also has a new one available soon...it goes to 1watt which is way overkill, it also has a fan.

Hello I've a Radiomaster TX16s (version 1) and the betafpv expresslrs elrs 2.4ghz 1W Micro Module. I can't change the 10W value, in the module joistick or in the LUA software, Do you have an ideia what maybe is the cause?
Make sure the lua script is for the same version as elrs on the module.

I've update (with success) both transmiter (betafpv expresslrs elrs 2.4ghz 1W Micro Module) and receiver (happyModel_EP_2400_RX) in the ELRS Software 2.5.1 version. I've have tha black one of 1W, but I can't change the Power, is fix in 10mW. I'm using the "regulatory Doman EU CE 2400, maybe is his? Is the 3.0.0.-RC1 version already safe?
@@antoniofilipe70 If safety is the concern we should not us RC versions only non RC are fully tested. I have used RC firmware many times without trouble but there are situations where it might not be safe. Can you change the value down? I am not knowledgeable about EU regulations and the limitations manufacturers might have in place for the EU.

Albert Kim couldn’t make betafpv tx work with happymodel rx. Did you try it with the new 1.0 ExpressLRS version?
There is a short discussion on this topic down in the comments with Nasrul Acuy. The ELRS hardware is cross platform compatible. They need the same options on flashing. Out of the box the version betafpv has the TX is unknown.
I want to switch over to this from CrossFire, because the multiple options of recivers. What is the best option (in your opinion) for a tx16S? (To be used for whoops and long range)
Right now we only have the happymodel module to fit in that radio. Er, check that, there is another company namimino or something close to that, they also have a "normal" sized module bay ELRS module. I can't say what we will be seeing for whoop boards (AIO) and ELRS but I fully expect there to be options. At this time my preference would be to separate the rx off the AIO if we can get FC+OSD+ESC+VTX and 10+amp, we can add and EP2 for less than a gram in weight. Adding a vtx is generally 2+ grams +antenna.
BetaFPV also have their whoop 12A 1S AIO board with ELRS integrated… To me that is really cool! I’d love to see a 1-2S option rather than 1S only…

What radio? The x-lite? the lua scripts are specific to the version of elrs on the module module or the internal elrs.

@@ChristKrew-Rev1.8 No expresslrs doesn't require opentx or edgetx updates. Those are the software operating systems on most radios. I can't speak to any radio not running either of those two.
@@NickBurnsFPV Thank you. I thought I would have to update the firmware to use the new expressLRS lua script. Only reason I am looking at the Frsky x-lite is the caps that allow 18650 batt's and that they are removable. Just want something to grab and go on the fly without having to break out my TX16s all the time. Save that one for planned days of all day flying at the park. Thank you for all the help.

You know that BF TX can connect to HM RX and vice versa. There is no discrimination among ELRS hardware haha...

This works on x-lite and tango II, and likely other radios needing a nano module. The happymodel version is specifically made for the jumper x-lite. Happymodel does have a version for the x-lite and tango II....but it is being reworked and not currently available. Once difference is the betafpv receivers have a telemetry boost to them up to 100mhz, where happymodel receivers are 10mhz. This is good for true long range flights. But the receivers aren't specific to a brand or tx module. We can flash them with the ELRS configurator and use any ELRS receiver with any ELRS Tx module.

Actually I've seen some happymodel modules on aliexpress (the ones with the iron man mask). Good to know they get an update.
@@monsieur7246 Yes, those are initial product images. I don't think the iron man thing is going to stick around, I also think they are working on making the product "shorter" to fit behind the x-lite and tango II radios better. But we will only be certain one the product does launch.

yes it does. But the tango 2 requires that module bay we have to buy. Or at least I had to buy it.

I went ahead and bought the Beta 2.4 module for my Tango 2, to play with, along with the HX115 LR, when it dropped @Pyro. I don’t normally mess with bind-n-flys, but I wanted the board and the frame. I have big plans… The board is actually labeled 1-2s, but on BetaFPVs’ site they mentioned that the motors don’t “currently” spin all that well on 2s. They are supposed to be working on the firmware, but it’s BetaFPV, so I’m not holding my breath and just hoping the thing doesn’t blow up 😂. With a 25 amp burst, it SHOULD be robust enough(we’ll see) It do looks cool. It will probably get reconfigured Fur Sur. I can make it better… “Good starting platform”

This tx module is pretty standard nano sized external module. The documentation only states the tango II and x-lite, but I would expect other radios with a nano "bay" to work as well.
You cannot bind the BetaFpv ExpressLRS tx module to a Happymodel ExpressLRS rx!

Yes you can!
they bind fine, just make sure you've updated the happy model rx/tx to 1.0.0 (they ship with 0.1.3)
