    I love gifts that other people could never ever guess the significance of. A large roll of tape? No one would know why that would make you happy without the story. Those are the best gifts.

    I made the switch to pocket Leuchtturm a few journals after you did, and I thought it would be too small, but I’ve found it comforting compared to A5 - which is what I’ve used most of my journaling life. A message from across the pond. It's so interesting to dip into your world and particularly at this strange and volatile time. I cannot match your eye for the artistic; I just write in my journal everyday in a variety of colours as I discover more lovely inks. I used to use Leuchteum journals and I liked them. I have now discovered the journal of my dreams though - the Elia Note. 500 pages of TM delight. But at this time I just wanted to send good wishes as your nation shifts from despair to hope. I know the chaos isn't yet over but it seems to me that you, your nation and the world can breathe again. I hope it inspires you to yet more creativity...

    I have been using Leuchtturm for years now. I prefer plain paper as it allows my thoughts to flow more freely, I find lines or dots to confin them! I do love also the warm shade. Though I think Clairfontaine a lovely fountain pen paper the stark white for me creates a cold environment for my thoughts. From all my fountain pens I actually find my latest to be the nicest match to the paper which is surprising as it’s the wettest writer I have. I have discovered the joys of the S.T Dupont Montparnasse fountain pen, oh my goodness what a nib!
    I found an NOS smaller one in blue lacquer for a great price here in Austria and took a chance as I had heard them to be heavy pens but I do not find this to be the case, the balance in my small hands is perfect!
    I’m sure you will understand this but this pen seems to allow my creativity to flow so much more freely than my other pens ( save for my vintage Shaeffer) and I just want to keep on writing with it!

    Is that the pen holder from the Galen Leather A5 folio? I bought an A5 folio, love how it looks, but found I keep taking the Leuchtturm journal out to write. I started journalling this summer after getting into fountain pens. I got the Leuchtturm because all the Field Notes and Moleskine notebooks I have bleed so easily with even fine nibs. Needs to be a very dry pen. Plus, very little shading or sheen from the inks. What size is that notebook cover? It looks like the A6 just fits very tightly. I’m thinking to use the folio more as storage, and get a notebook cover to use. I have been trying out many inexpensive pens, but I did make the mistake of inking too many. As I use up the ink, I think I will just keep 3-5 inked. One for work note taking, and the rest for journaling. I found that after the working from home got instituted, and my daughter had to stay home, I needed something to use to vent my feelings. Don’t even know if I will read it later. I’m about halfway through the Leuchtturm now, so thinking about the next one.
    Although camping isn’t my thing, I loved following your trip. I love the west and hope to move back some day. I lived in Wyoming from 5-15, and then for college went to CU, but haven’t lived in the west since I was about 25. Out east, the mountains just feel too small.

    I feel a similar way about my Custom 823 although mine has the Waverley nib on it. Then of course they hold a ton of ink if you do the two step routine to fill it completely. Amazing pens yeh 🙂👍🏻 Since your previous video’s, I’ve also bought a couple of Leuchtturms myself even though I’ve wanted them for years. lol. I got an A5 and the Pocket. Thx for the updates 😀
    Edit - I must say I’m not a fan of the Midori paper. I hoped I would love it but I don’t. In the Traveler’s Notebook inserts with the new White MD Paper, I always get issues where I have held the page whilst I write, i.e. the ink spreads or goes lighter due to my finger oils that must lay on the paper there. With Tomoe River and the A5 Leuchtturm I just don’t get that at all. So yeh, I’m not a Midori fan and that bugs me as they are the cheaper inserts with some discount. I’m waffling now. Stay safe all of you. 👍🏻

    • @Richard_Barnes
      @Richard_Barnes 3 роки тому +1

      @@adventuredenali - the Waverley nib has been made with the tip being slightly upturned. It looks like it’s been dropped! Honestly it’s so weird but subtlety so. It’s supposed to be smooth writing no matter what angle or rotation of wrist you write with. It is very very smooth (not glass, there is slight feedback), however along with that I feel it’s got ‘baby bottom’ issues too. At times on the Tomoe River (TR) paper it will skip. Not overly annoying as it may happen say once or twice per A5 page. But on the Leuchtturm (LT) paper it never skips as the paper has more tooth, ergo it writes better on there really. I actually like the feeling the LT paper has compared to the TR as well. That bit of tooth or grip or drag (Whatever 😆) is really nice. Then for the Pocket LT, I’m getting that ‘new book, don’t wanna write in it’ kinda vibe at the moment. It’s just sat there neglected. 😀 Am obsessed with my Traveler’s Notebook, William Hannah A5 and the LT A5 all at the same time.

      Hello and welcome!! Haha utensils! I think it works, I say that too, always forgetting the right word. Maybe implements... tools? I don’t know. Hope you find the right project for all your magazines! They’re so beautiful and inspiring to work with.

    I'm right there with you regarding the election. This past week has been a nightmare of a year. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the fascists behave themselves!
    Have you ground many nibs before? What resources did you use to learn about it? I'm interested in learning more about tuning and grinding.

    As you go through more notebooks than most of us do, are you buying them in bulk (if that is even possible) or do you just get them on Amazon, or? Love "jumping Bean" at the beginning of this video. I happened upon you a couple of months ago due to your review of something, and now you are my favorite channel by a mile. Thanks for all the content!

      I’ve been buying them on jet pens, haven’t even thought to look at buying them in bulk if that’s an option! That’d be kind of amazing, and maybe a little overwhelming to get all those notebooks at once, haha.

    Until you work up the nerve to cut into your book maybe you can scan the images. I don’t know what the copyright is on something that old, but you could turn the images into digital downloads and sell them. You have such a great eye you could easily curate a collection of vintage images. (Ok, now I want that. Lol) You could also take a picture and print it with your canon ivy. The old school way of copying things... when I was a kid, I’d try to tape songs off the radio by holding my fisher price tape recorder up to my parents stereo.

    • @adventuredenali
      @adventuredenali  3 роки тому +1

      Oh wow, that’s such a great idea! I wonder... so many possibilities.
      Hahah I love that, it is very old school, just like recording with the radio. I did that too, haha. Would sit for hours by the radio, waiting for a song I liked to pop on.

    Have you considered photocopying vintage magazines, printing in high quality colour (perhaps even glossy art paper) and collaging with the copy? It would save the original magazine and you can repeat it again!
    I know an illustration prof who makes use of the photocopier to create funky textures, while the scanning bar is moving, he moves the print across the glass, and the result is a pattern made of the same image repeated dozens of times!

    Is that a Ferret in your intro? He/She certainly is a playful fellow. In your collection of FP's, if somebody mentions a gusher/firehouse of a writer in conversation which FP comes to mind? Also, don't know if you have ever looked at Dingbat Journals which can be found on Amazon, a bit heavier paper than the 1917 you mention, FP friendly. I do enjoy your informative video"s.
