When I think of all the most horrible things that happen to me, sometimes I remember some of the words that LaCroix says in Forever Knight

Even though they left ending to our imagination. Nick speech is heart wrenching and brought tears to LaCroix, I’ve never thought that or felt that LaCroix would end Nick’s life! I’m sorry but this moment or speech wouldnt bring LaCroix to change mind and finally give Nick what he wanted. I’ve always believed that LaCroix used that walking stick like a bat and knocked Nick out. Dragged him away and maybe either saved Natalie or even brought her across! I believe Nick is still out there alive with or without Natalie and still in conflict with LaCroix! Totally my opinion!

I think Nick did change LaCroix's mind; He recently realized the hundreds of years of torture he put Nick through after bringing him across. Since LaCroix came in as the Nighcrawler and they actually got close, I think he was willing to grant Nick's request. The way he swore when he appeared to run Nick through with the wood makes me think he really did kill Nick.

And I second that opinion. Even though the theme of the show was Nick wanting to find mortality, I seriously doubt Lacroix would kill his son. Despite all their troubles together, the one thing that Lacroix treasures above all is his son. No way would he kill him, not like that. And I highly doubt that suicide is what Nick was looking for, he just wanted an escape, thinking that death would solve all his problems.

Actually the reason it was ended that way was because there originally was supposed to be a movie in the works afterwards that never materialized. So really one can make up any ending they like.

Lacroix's most profound quote. Should have finished the entire scene, it would probably make a tortured soul think twice about ending their life.

Or like myself-Desire even more-that which exist beyond..............

eric cameron But the point of the whole speech here is that while you have faith in something good that exists beyond, you can not positively know you will have that after committing suicide. Those contemplating suicide should not focus on desiring what exists beyond but should seek courage to fight negative thoughts and feelings, to move on to more positive thoughts of how things will get better and think of ways to cope during bad times in life.

eryk belmont The "empty box" part was at the very beginning of this episode, not in this scene.
