John Williams, the Sporting Director at Amiens SC (@AmiensSC1901) in the French Ligue 2, explains how he managed to make one of the biggest transfers for a 16-year-old in football history, selling George Ilenikhena to Royal Antwerp (@RAFCofficial) for €6.5m plus bonuses in the Summer of 2023.
The deal was close to collapsing, but Williams met with Antwerp at a TransferRoom Summit in London a few months earlier. They talked directly about what was needed to make the transfer happen, and that was crucial.
