Their music is fun and it's built to last. Three years since the release of the album and I still come back to it. Looking forward to the new album this year. Oh, and double-fuck the haters.
What I haven't done is compare myself to a much respected incredibly talented and successful artist when I've done nothing to to put myself in that company. I'm just being honest. He's a great actor, I think Sling Blade is one of those absolute classic films and for a man that wrote and directed it I give him much respect. As a ego driven mediocre singer and musician, not so much. That's all I'm sayin brother.
@tlv156 --I totally agree with you. If people want to hate Billy Bob for his Hollywood persona, fine, but this music isn't as bad as people say. Yeah, its not as "great" as U2 or Bob Dylan, but its not meant to be epic. Its just mild, catchy alt-country music. To all you haters out there: So do you think Kid Rock is better? Fifty Cent? Ludacris? Starbucks music? Give me a break!!
@durwinpocha They never asked him questions about his acting all they said was who he was and what else he has done. There are many musicians out there that also act that get the same thing done to them. I've never seen any of them do the same thing. I feel bad for his band in that clip he is ruining the whole interview for them. I'm not trying to be a bill bob hater, but with all the other problems in the world if that's what you get's you really pissed you need to take a step back

i hate country music, but i like the sound these guys put out. i don't give a rats ass if it's a movie star playing. i just care about the music. it's a unique sound without the typical country twang shit about runnin' tractors on the farm. it's a much more poppy, upbeat, retro sound. i think it's original. just my opinion.

most actors should stick to acting. just because they have money and connections doesn't give them free reign to make a mockery of the music industry. and that's what they're doing because not many of them can sing play or write anything worth a shit. they're embarrassing themselves and insulting true musicians who dedicate their lives to touching others through their songs.
For a guy who thinks he should be respected the same as Tom Petty he might want to consider trying to write ONE song as memorable as ANYTHING Tom Petty has done. This isn't as bad as The Shaggs but it's completely forgettable and mediocre at best.
His music lacks creativity, being a mish-mash of old styles. His singing is crap. His lyrics are depressing and tedious. Gee, I wonder why he can't have a hit song. Just play the little clubs and open for people, and enjoy your life on the fringes of musical success. You don't get to be a star in everything, son. You got lucky in movies, and WAY lucky in love, and you blew that one too. Go obsess over something in your basement for a few years. Maybe you'll write something worthwhile.

This isn't country music, it's americana. It's a mix of country, jazz, blues, bluegrass maybe.. a little of everything.
