Stephanie Jaworski of Joyofbaking.com demonstrates how to make Ginger Cookies. Ginger Cookies are aptly named, as they are both ginger colored and ginger flavored. They have a sugar coated crackly surface, and when you bite into one you will find the texture soft and chewy with a flavor that is buttery and spicy. The combination of molasses with ground cinnamon, ground ginger, and cloves makes eating one just about impossible.

I've watched your videos for YEARS. You're such an inspiration for me! But I have to say, that short clip or you and your husband riding your bike was so endearing :)
*"Makes a large amount of cookies. About 48..."* In my house we call that a tester. :)
Lol same here 🤣🤣🤣
Lol its reminds me when I going to make a cake my dad screams from the couch "make a big one, because I want to eat a lot" and by the afternoon last less than a half...
I'm going through a hard time right now and your videos, strangely, have been a source of comfort for me. Thanks, Stephanie. :)

Tried these, Stephanie. They were a hit! Now whenever I bake, the family asks if it is your recipe, and if the answer is in the affirmative, they're pleased as punch!
They came out perfectly, visual appeal, texture, and taste. Felt like a pro. Thanks for the precision in measurements and in method. Love you!
P.S. It baffles me how anyone can dislike this recipe.

Hi Stephanie, My daughter asked me if I would bake her some cookies. I made these today...and will admit to sampling one. Ginger perfection! I even weighed the dough, which normally I don't have patience for but it is very nice to have similar looking cookies! I personally love clove and added a wee bit more to the mix. They taste wonderful! I'm looking forward to expanding my traditional Christmas treats by including some of your wonderful recipes!
Polly Dolly are they crunchy or chewy?

Awww Stephanie I've watched your videos since day 1 and it's such a joy to see you still baking and also sharing your life with us. The bike riding was so cute. You seem like such a nice friendly person :) thankyou for your videos
I love that we you explain everything in details
Thanks for the recipe, I'm gonna try it :)
I remember making those cookies even before the video appeared, just using the recipe from the site. They were amazing. Need to make some again! Of course, I had to adjust the recipe because molasses is hard to get where I live. I used home-made dandelion honey instead and it turned out to be a great substitute.
Thanks for the recipe! Just made this for my family and we are obsessed!!
Looks great!!
Thank you Stefanie, wish I could give you a hug.🤗🤗🤗🤗
Nice video, Stephanie! I lived in Atlanta for a little over 2 years and I agree, Atlanta was not very bike friendly. The Eastside Beltline Trail was probably the only good example of a "bike friendly" stretch of pavement, but it was a multi-use trail so there were also a lot of pedestrians.
I made these cookies and they're nice and soft and delicious, the best I've ever made. Thanks for recipe.
Thanks! I'm going to try on this christmas 😃 Greetings from Paraguay
I just finished my work in kitchen and I made Ginger Cookies for my first time, I would say that they are fantastic and extremely tasty. I used some other recipe for making cakes, they all came very good. thank you very much lady, I love your recipes :)

OMG, Steph. You and Rick are such a happy couple. Be happy and bring more good recipes to us!
those look delicious
so nice i love it
Thanks for sharing❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hi Stephanie! I just finished baking this cookies; I decided to go for a 20gr x cookie since 15gr seemed to be a bit too small for my house liking. I was thinking I was going to get half of the 48 yield that you mentioned in the video and also on your web page but it seemed to be a lot of dough for only 24 cookies. I went ahead and did the math on your measurements and it gave me 943gr of dough so as you see it is impossible to get 48 cookies. My dough weighed 950 (not to bad if I may say so :) ) So at the end I've got 44, 20gr cookies. Now to the important part, this recipe is a keeper, the cookies baked beautifully, my entire house smells like heaven! As my kids got into our house they were like "what on earth did you baked this time? It smells delicious!" Anyway, just wanted to thank you for yet another wonderful video and of course congratulate you for what it seems to be a beautiful new home! Cheers from Argentina!
Isnt 943 divided by 15 ...62? and you only made them slightly bigger. Your comment is so very confusing.
Made today. Very nice. Thanks. Gave some to neighbours. They also like.
I can't stop making it . ..
My favourite recipe forever..
And again and again..

Already bringing fall flavors into our kitchens! Great! I bet this cookies are a perfect match to a pumpkin pie spice latte! Is it more on the chewy side or crunchy?

Hello Stephanie Happy New Years, I would like to make this can I use fresh ginger instead of powder ginger?
made these and they were a HIT
Hi Stephanie, Thanks for all the fabulous recipes you share with us. The way you explain everything and make it all look so easy is amazing. I have a question, please. I did these ginger biscuits,by hand not with a mixer. The taste is absolutely delicious, but they came flat, why is that please, help? Thanks for all you do for us. Love and best wishes from the island of Malta.
Did you flatten them with a glass before baking like Stephanie? If you did, next time don't flatten. If you didn't flatten them, if you bake them too long they have a tendency to flatten out.
Hope that helps! Best wishes from Vancouver, Canada
Man I said flatten a lot lol
