Imagine if Toyota still built trucks like this! Simple, reliable, but quality everywhere. I think Toyota is still riding on this era's reputation but the new Tacomas don't hold a candle to the flame. That interior looks amazing.

I have the 1995 base 4x4 and I love it but most today would not. They're too spoiled. My truck has a 5-speed manual and only 116 HP. It never had A/C. It has a two speaker AM/FM stereo with no clock and you can't hear it when it's hot and you're at speed with the windows open. Strangely it has tilt steering and I never use it, and it carries a lot of weight for a small truck but the bed is small. Everyone wants a bigger truck. Most cars are bigger than my 3250 lb pickup and you can't play CDs or tapes or plug into the wimpy stereo without an FM transmitter. It's also geared for 55 MPH America not 70.

They do, just not in America. Look up the Land Cruiser 70 series. The 2024 refresh is ugly, but till 2023 they kept this same styling.

Beautiful pickup. Thanks for showing it to us. I wish the engineers from the manufacturers would take a look at these again and see why they are so beloved. I know the market has changed but there are many little bits of character that can transfer over to new designs.

Have almost the exact same truck except manual everything, this is the fully loaded version. Bought mine new in 93' , only 98k mi on it. Used it as a personal work truck so the original paint is nice but not as nice as this one. Never any real issues with it, just get in and drive. Have an electric plow on the front and have towed cars and trailers with it. Like this owner says, NEVER going to sell it !

The best vehicle that I have ever owned was a 1996 Tacoma regular cab 4x4 with a 2.7 four-cylinder and 5-speed manual. The transmission shifted as smoothly as a BMW and I consistently got 26 mpg on the highway. Cloth seat! A/C! AM/FM radio and factory floor mats. In 1999 my new wife convinced me to sell the Tacoma and get a loaded GMC Sierra extended cab 4x4. Big mistake! Wish I still had that Tacoma.

Nice truck. Your interior is exactly the same as mine. I (still) have my 1991 2wd SR5 that I purchased new, so the interior is much more worn at 370k miles. Evidently, the 2WD versions of this truck were treated like junk and like disposable trucks. It is still a solid truck and still so much fun to drive.

Great trucks but the 3.0L was less desirable than the 22Re 4 in these trucks. I had two 1982 Toyota 4wd pickups which were actually tougher and better built than this gen. I also had a 95. It was great but not as utilitarian as the first gen models. Oh and this 93 was built in CA not Japan. The owner not knowing that in 9yrs of ownership is a bit odd.

@@Pickuptrucktalk The T100 used to be built in Japan and of course the first gen pickup I.e 79-83 4wd trucks were built in Japan also. But the later years T100 and these third gen pickups were made in America. The third gen started in 89. The second gen was the “Marty mcfly” body style. The 82 was the last brick shithouse year though because even in 83 which was still a first gen it didn’t have the dual row timing chain with metal guides it went to a single row and plastic guides

I'm an original owner toying with selling my manual transmission 1990 Toyo 4X4 X-tracab SR5 with 131,000 miles _as is._ Much of what you describe regarding paint and stripes is similar...paint wearing thin, body decal stripes drying out, nick in front bumper, however the bed's like new, there's no rust and very little body dings. Non-smoking interior next thing to new. Did A/C conversion in summer 2021. Just had timing belt, water pump and hoses replaced last week. Will need new radio, though. Alignment is straight on. Rides quiet, no rattles. Have tried to keep it as close to stock as possible, including stock aluminum rims, original chrome rear bumper. Truck's been babied all it's life...never off road. Every year I get at least fifteen offers....four, just last week alone. It's spent much of it's life parked in a driveway...after almost 34 years I hate to see it go, but it might be time.

I had a 94’ with the 22re and a 1990 4runner with that 3.0L. I worked at Lexus toyota 14 yrs great vehicles but dam did I mention that looks like in mint condition lol. Make sure you keep the uplinks greased , and buy cap/rotor wires from toyota. If you do a tune up you’ll have to use a timing light yes lol. I know the 90’ 4runner I bought with 113,000 never had tube up if original spark plug wires or from toyota it will have month and year stamp up and down the wires. , when I removed spark plugs the gap was soo wide apart lol I couldn’t believe it. I could fit 3 dimes width ways into it. Enjoy the truck it’s a awesome vehicle. If vin starts with a J it’s Japan model , if a number U.S made but some J models are also made in Canada my rx350 is.

It really comes down to how well you take care of your vehicle too, as I have seen some pretty trashed one's out there as well. I took very good care of my 20 yr 4Runner until I got in accident last year, and most people who didn't know model years, thought my car was less than 5 years old it was so clean inside and out. How much effort you put into keeping in clean and up on maintenance is 100% key.

Unfortunately NYS Salt eats them up eventually, the only thing that kills them as long as you do regular maintenance especially oil changes they'll run forever. I saw an 87 one 4 cyl 5 speed up here a couple months ago in Western NYS that owner drove up here from Texas with 340,000 miles, still looked quite good, never been drove in winter, no rust on it. I was so jealous! My 2000 with 225,000+ miles still runs great but NYS Salt is rusting the body, so far frame is still solid on it. Can't beat them!

I had a 1988 extra cab, and a 1992 extra cab a lot like this truck in the video. Both with V6 engines. Great trucks!

My dad used to have one of these back in the early 2000s. Our family of 4 would somehow all fit in this truck. Got rid of it when the timing belt snapped around 150k

How much y’all reckon a 94 sr5 extended cab 4x4 pickup w 100k miles would sell for? Completely mint garaged kept w aftermarket and oem wheels

@@monkejr3522 Ok, maybe a little high. LOL. I just saw an original Ford Bronco listed for $45k. The market is crazy. I checked out BringaTrailer.com and it looks like $20k is the top bids for some of them. So start high and see what you can get.
