Perma Pastures is a cornucopia of practical knowledge for homesteaders, farmers, and well, everyone who grows anything. Nate, The Pig Whisperer (scratcher...). Nice to see that the new roster seems to have such a great temperament with the flock. Let's see if he can sound the alarm to danger when it approaches.
I'm sad you didn't ask William to help install your fence. You're the hardest working man who for a few years has gone to many homesteads before you even had your own to aide and volunteer to make their life easier.. Please let friends know who are coming you could really use their hands and expertise.
Oh that was so cute wen the pig just flopped down on his side wen you wer tickling his nose...he was asleep in a second...your new 🐓 is beautiful Nate....hope Katie likes him...
that is a stunning rooster and the ladies will definitely fall under his spell! I have, and I am not even a hen! What about putting tennis balls or something similar on the end of the gate rods?
Love the rooster. And Meanie has a great personality. Hope he's a keeper and not headed to the freezer. His permanent job could be clearing the brush on your 60-some acres!!
The new rooster is very handsome. You will soon have more baby chicks running around. You should name him William since that’s who gave him to you. 🤷🏻♀️ plus giving the pig some scratches made me laugh when he fell over and looked like he went to sleep. I bet he would like belly scratches. Lol 😂 Don’t over do while Katie is gone. Have a blessed day 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻💕👩🏻🌾🐓🐖🐑
Might I suggest spreading Moth Balls around the outside of your chicken pen, my Son puts them around the outside of his house to keep Snakes away, I also heard salt works too 😁
@@TheKraemerLife I both canned and froze foods, but I found the frozen foods took too long to thaw after working all day and I wanted dinner and bed. Applesauce is my favorite. I use apples from old, neglected apple trees. I wash them and leave the peels on. It colors the applesauce and adds flavor. I use very little sugar. I hope you have found apple trees on your homestead. There might be other old early and unused vegetables, pear trees, and nut trees as well. If you want black walnuts, pick up fallen walnuts along country roads or unused walnuts from neighbors. Feed them to squirrels in winter. They will plant walnuts all over. They grow better than seedlings you can plant. The wood is beautiful and valuable as well? Birds plant cherry trees too. Cherry wood is also valuable. Weasels will kill many chickens for fun and eat only the brains. We had chickens, pigs and a dairy calf to raise for meat. I regret killing the sweet animals. I finished hatching chicks in my bra that the mother hen stopped brooding when she had as many chicks as she wanted. Good luck. I just found your videos. P.S. leave your applesauce lumpy. The texture is an added pleasure.
What a great idea on the gate. I hope it continues to work well. Nate, did you happen to see the Hollar's video today.? Ben showed a chain gismo he has on his weed whacker for tough undergrowth and brush. He added a couple of chains to a blade type spinner and it really does the job. I think he said he got the original blade thing at Lowes. Love the way the pig just fell over when you were scratching her nose and face...pure ecstasy. Thanks for sharing. Have a Blessed day.
I had pigs about 20 odd years ago and what I used to do was bring out a long handled hard ish brush and used it to scratch they’re backs and belly.. the minute they saw me coming with the brush they got so excited and dropped on the ground waiting for the scratching to start… they absolutely loved it 🥰🥰
Awe, man! What a bummer. I think you should keep him around anyway! Isn’t it few and far between that you find such a sweet tempered, loving pig like him? And he seems to adore you so much, too. His meat would taste just terrible! Yuck! Don’t eat him. He can be your mascot and “new pig manager” they will need supervision and training, you know.
Looks great and love the coloring on the rooster. Amazing the colors the birds turn into once grown. Congratulations on the gate, that will work nicely! Fun to see your vegetables start coming onboard. I know you will be glad to get Katie home I am sure. My husband was gone months at a time in the military and I never enjoyed it but the children and I survived. Lots got put on hold but we survived! Best of luck and so nice of Perma Pastures gifted you some "get started items"........nice indeed. I love to see that in the community. Blessings
I've never seen a gate like that. That really looks as though that will give you confidence in keeping the animals in and on your property, and actually I guess it will keep other animals off your property. Hopefully delivery driver's know how to manage a gate like that. I love ❤️ the NEW Rooster and all the crowing. He has such beautiful colors. God Bless you and the givers of the gifts. That will be a new channel to watch for me. Thank you for sharing and teaching me something new too. 💚
For the coyotes, try a motion activated strobe light, or maybe just a light will help. It may help for the falcon eating your chicken too. Just a thought.
Love it gonna have to check out the jars order some ,made William smooth lol 😆 jk ....he be drowned in that Perma jar salves lol.💞💞💞💞💞♥️anyways beautiful ❤️ rooster 🐓🐔 he looks friendly
When working alone, screw a small block on each post and them set your long one on top to screw in, this way it s like your other hands , you set them where the long board is to go , Hard to hold a 8 ft and screw it in on one end with out it in the right place
Wow, you got a lot done.. love the new gate idea and I Love your new rooster... You have the most beautiful chickens... What kind of chicken is Betty Jane? And thanks for the video really enjoyed it.
Did you really just make a Crusty the clown reference? OMG LOL!! You realize he was local? Congrats on the gate hope it really does keep the critters in.
That pig going down reminded me of those goats that faint … you’re scratching and BOOM, down he goes. Gosh, if I had my own small travel trailer, I’d ask you if I could come down and “intern” and help you clean up a bit. I like mindless (not to be confused with HARD) work, where you can put headphones on and just have at it. I need a change of scenery from the suburbs, lol.
I'm using Comfrey for Arthritis, it's better than Diclofenac, this is really awesome stuff but don't take it oral it's bad for your Liver. Great work, nice from this guy bring you an new rooster.
In the old days we way way back when confrey was called nit bone, the Romans were used it for broken bones that's why I was calling it bone and it's still to this day it will definitely nit a bone back together and that's what it did for the Young man that almost cut his finger off but at the same time it can be put in a bucket of water and let it go really nasty and it's excellent for the garden you could talk to your buddy Ben holler about that because he uses it a lot for a lot of different things but it really is good for fertilizer. And I definitely want to comment on the Salve that he showed I've never seen a salve as pretty as that one!!!! They do a good job doing what they do...

Yes, he is a vocal rooster. We had a visitor and he crowed until they left.
@@TheKraemerLife Brilliant.
The perfect name for your new rooster would be "Sweet William". After his temperament and who gave him to you.
Great idea for a name
Such a clever name…like the flower, too!
We had a bantam rooster we named Willam. He was an attack rooster, especially after our three year old son. I don’t remember Willam’s end.
Omg I loved the pig scratching he made me crack up laughing it looked like he fell asleep 😴
He is so sweet.
Maybe a pool noodle could be used to go on the fence ends to keep from scratching your vehicles. Love the new rooster & Meanie is awesome.

That was a super scratch, so funny. I love watching pigs interact with humans.

What a truly nice gift of your new rooster from the nicest people! They seem to be committed to teaching and helping others. Heartwarming

I canned a lot of ratatouille from my garden. I love to can and love the winter quick dinners.

Looks like Betty Jean has a new Bo!!!!
Idea for the gate tips so they don't scratch: Put muffs on em. Like soft ones that go on the ends of microphones to stop pop noises.
Maybe the foam insulation that is used to keep pipes from freezing would protect the vehicle?
👋 Nate (& Katie) ✝️🇺🇸

I love how much you care for your chickens. Happy you have friends who look out for your flock.
