Yeah, pretty mind blowing stuff! Sometimes I can't wrap my head around what the hell he's doing. The thing is, he knows every measure of so many complex tunes like the back of his hand. It's one of those things where a drummer watches, and shortly into the song, you are completely lost. Then, you just sit back and watch the rest in ahh. Like, WTF?!? 😂
I have been playing for 50 years now and I studied drums, I read drum music fairly well, but I got to tell you, Dave is "thee" grandmaster of the instrument! There are tons of great drummers all over the globe, but drummers like Weckl show up once in a lifetime. The notes are flawlessly and uninhibitedly flowing from his limbs into the drums, just like morning-dew dripping off a windshield at the dawn of day. This man is VERY talented!

Amazing groove because of the amazing timing and beat blacement. VERY good sticking too. All these things Gavin Harrison has too, and Gavins drumming to me sounds more creative. So I will Pick Gavin over this guy as to what to me sounds complete/perfect.
Silky and effortless. Dave is better now at 61 than when he was a much younger guy. By far my favorite drummer. I've been playing since 1963 when I was 3 years-old and have seen all the greats, and Dave, IMO, is the best.
I've seen Dave live with CCEB twice and I've been to three of his drum clinics. He's definitely one of my favorites. Such a fine demonstration. But hearing Chick's keyboard work on this song is otherworldly as well. RIP Chick, one of the greatest musicians of all time.
The most musical of drummers . So incredibly fantastic. Without doubt the very best drummer I've ever heard . Been listening to him for over 35 years. Pure pleasure.
Tastes change. I was the same, I was listening to other music. I was lucky enough that I picked up on Weckl again when he came to London with Mike Stern, Tom Kennedy and Bob Mallach. He is without doubt as good as Buddy Rich. And I don’t say that lightly, but I believe it to be the truth.
Mr.Dave Weckl,...this guy has the best time out of most drummers alive today. 2 of the best timekeepers today, Erskine and Weckl. Shit, this man just gets better with age . 10/10 !
I’ve been listening to Dave for over 20 years and he still amazes me every time I see a video of him playing. He’s definitely one of our drumming gods.
Just unbelievably good. Words don't describe the tightness, the fluidity, the absolute exactness, while still maintaining a feel and an impression of improvisation while all the while knowing that this is all very calculated. Amazing. I've always considered Weckl a favorite even though I don't even know a fraction of the catalog of music he's played on and I don't even listen to Jazz. Every time I watch him play, I'm reminded why I like his playing and style. And the memory to play all these bits with such perfection. There must be an award for someone like this!
It's noticeable that Dave is responsive. A quality of him that makes us listeners to continue to see, listen to all his fushion hits and gigs. There are like no boundaries. He can play with everyone.
his touch on the drums is soooo incredibly recognizable and unique for as hard as that sounds... and it hasn't changed in 30 years of his music trajectory.... it's astounding to me... that's when you say you have developed your own voice on your instrument... to me that is God like talent... a true Master of the drum kit
He is such a different player now to 20 years ago. I think the majority of drummers do evolve, but Weckl has changed so much, and only for the better. From glory to glory
It is like watching...and listening to...water flow down a mountain stream. Follows the contours of the music with unwavering precision and absolute...and completely effortless... perfection.
Dave weckl is the best. I met him a few times at Zanzibar blue in Philly and he was such a nice dude. Same goes for his bass player. Easily one of my greatest influences.
I love that deep, deep rich sound of your bass drum man! Cool, awesome sound dude. Awesome, Talented musician man! God richly bless you my friend! Awesome talent!
I have worked and shared stories and good times with Dave . To me he is the perfect drummer #1 And he's a really cool guy. Mexico 2014 Yamaha drums / clinic tour .

God I love the color of that kit! My brother actually met Dave who was playing at The Troubadour. This was back in the 80's and he said Dave pulled up in either a Volvo or Audi station wagon and he helped him carry in his kit!
Very cool and extremely handsome drummer man! No drummer has what you have brother! I love the deep, deep sound of the awesome bass drum. I have always said if you can’t hear it loud and clear, it slaughters the sound! You are to, to awesome for the sound not to equal your awesome ability man. Awesome, blessed drummer!

At least i got to get Dave's signature. That made me happy.
