I also got off of Node Red, for me it was a couple of years ago. It's an excellent application that makes creation and maintenance of automations very simple. But like mostlychris, I was very frustrated by the inability to edit on a mobile device.
My top addons are ESPHome Builder, the three Voice Assistant addons, Studio Code Server, Mosquito Broker, and Music Assistant Server. I have also dumped Node Red. I use ZHA for Zigbee but that is a built-in integration.
I Chris, a bit offtopic, I have an Airspy HF+ Discovery SDR syncked with my TS-590SG. I use it within the amateur radio bands, specifically in LSB and USB modes for voice communication, synced with my radio. I use SDR Console, but I would like a feature where selecting a signal on the waterfall automatically adjusts the frequency so that the signal is contained within the corresponding bandwidth, which is typically around 2.7kHz. Does SDR Console have this automatic frequency adjustment feature? I heard that SDRuno have it. Do you use SDR?
My HA loses connection to server almost every other day. When this happens I will disconnect it and wait for about two minutes and connect it and it comes on. I am new to HA. I have been using apple homekit for years and have never seen anything like this. What can I do to keep it connected? I am using a raspberry pi 5. 🙏
Another question on this. Will using zigbee2mqtt help eliminate the conflicts with Wi-Fi band and losing connection to the zigbee routers? I have to reboot HA semi regularly to re-establish the network. Note: I don't need to use vendor's gateway or bridge on any of my zigbee devices.
@@brettautrey4117both integrations use zigbee channel 11 by default, but instead of changing this channel in home assistant, I would change the wifi channel of your router to something not conflicting with your zigbee channel. This way you don't lose connection to all your zigbee devices and increase the range of your zigbee network significantly.
@@brettautrey4117You will have to find out which channels (both wifi and zigbee) use which frequencies. Channel 11 on zigbee is not the same as channel 11 on wifi.
Appreciate the detailed breakdown! Could you help me with something unrelated: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (mistake turkey blossom warfare blade until bachelor fall squeeze today flee guitar). How can I transfer them to Binance?
100% agree on the Node-Red migration. You motivated me to make the move and I havent looked back since. Automations are far more responsive I agree!
Thanks just digging in to home assistant and this is a great starting list
Great video, thanks! Speaking of alarm, I would love to hear your opinion on the alarmo addon from hacs.

Is the speaker on the Voice PE device good enough for music playback?
I'm waiting for ZWave LoRa. Is this supported? thanks

How come you use zigbee to mqtt and not the native HA zigbee integration
It supports more zigbee devices and features than the native zha

Hello all In my opinion the concept of home automation should be invisible. Why use voice commands? am i missing the point?
Theory and Practice.
